I thought I made a thread about this months ago but I can't find it so I guess I never did. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfX5yGm0hcsThey want to use these scanners everywhere, not just the boarders, but in schools and other buildings... it's outrageous.

Apparently there's a pilot's union that is encouraging their members not to use those scanners. There are also a lot of people that are not very happy about the full-body scanners or the new, more thorough pat-downs.
I can sympathize with both sides. The TSA has a huge amount of responsibility.

The rose in spring I think it's a load of s**t if you ask me. If. The good is the enhanced security. I'd rather have someone pat my body down than to pick my body up. The bad is the enhanced "privacy issues" that allow for, well, to put it brashly, molestation. I believe when security personnel(sp?) pat down three year olds, it becomes a slight problem, but then again, as security evolves, so does terrorism.. if such a thing exists. Consider it a necessary evil I guess. I'm not for it, or against it. I prefer boats myself. Is it humane? Or just another step to takes certain freedoms away?

I think it should be said that air travel is not an inalienable right. If you don't like it you can always take a bus.
My main concern with the full-body scanners is not privacy but radiation. If my concerns about the radiation exposure can be alleviated then I'll most likely have no issue with it. I've been told that the exposure is no different than the exposure you get when you eat a banana.

Every human has a civil right to own a certain amount of privacy, but more obvious is every human is basically built the same way in terms of bio-anatomy. Should go without saying that we're equally shy and arrogant, hah.

I'm just going to end up shaking my head when one of these pilots who won't use the new technology get killed because they did not utilize it and a bomb goes off- in their plane.
Note: The images are not as high-resolution as was previously suggested. the picture showing the woman naked was a hoax, copied from a website and ran through several filters.

actually there's two types of resolution, and there's also the video edited version they give to the public, which is not nearly as accurate as the real thing. Yay Disinformation.

From what I understand, you can skip the scan for a thorough pat down. And let's be honest, you're in a line with how many other people? If one of the people searching touches you wrong, then start shouting it out or inform another security person. As someone on in an article said "I'd rather not be in a plane that falls out of the sky."

My understanding of the new pat-down procedures (as told by a reliable source) is that there's absolutely no way *not* to touch someone inappropriately. They won't be feeling your junk with the palms of their hands, but the new pat-downs are quite thorough.

Another thing is that at the very least, you are being patted down by someone of the same sex. I know that's small comfort since either you or they could be attracted to the same sex, but again, if you feel that the way they are doing it is wrong, you can always complain or request someone else to search you.

So. People are upset that they might have their 'privacy' disrupted by a full body search, but conveniently ignore that it deters attempts to blow up the plane... Hmm...
No one's forcing you to get on the plane. No one's gonna say, "get on the plane, get searched, or we'll...blow up your mailbox." (couldn't think of a way to finish the threat.... redface )
Seriously, I'd rather know for a fact that there is no chance someone can sneak a weapon on to the same plane I'm gonna be flying on. Stop getting your panties in a twist just because they're being as certain as they can that the plane is safe (heh) to fly on. Don't like it? Don't fly. Get on a boat, or a bus. So far they don't have full body searches for those yet.

There was one guy who didn't want to do either, and the people there told him he had to leave then, and they couldn't refund his monies for his flight. Then when he went to leave, someone else came and told him he was subject to a ten thousand dollar fine because he refused the patdown and the scanner and couldn't leave the airport(he wasn't getting on the plane).
Like wtf?
