Folbran was beginning to doubt that his little stroll was such a wise idea more and more with every step he took.
It had seemed like such a glorious morning, a clear, calm vision of lush green lawns speckled with dew, each droplet catching sunlight and refracting it, like a million scintillating stars, golden and nameless. To be wakened to such a sight was to Folbran the absolute peak moment of life. He had stood, stunned by it all, taken aback by such beauty rising from what would be such normality on any other day. It was a glorious, glorious, glorious day indeed. All he wanted to do was to be out in it, basking in life's glory while it lasted. Which, given Murphy's Law, was bound to not be a very long stretch of time at all, in fact, quite the opposite. It was to be just enough time for him to be trapped by foul circumstance.
He had come to what was just about the apex of his walk, that being an adorable little park, speckled with trees and benches, when he noticed the light that had shone so brightly earlier to be dimmed, dulled, a pale cast of what it had been. Looking up, Folbran was quite distressed to find that the sky had clouded over, and moving in from the east were heavier masses, doubtless laden with rain. One hand immediately went to his hair, and the thought of the time spent fixing it up wasted was bad enough, besides the fact that he was naturally- and quite strongly- averse to being wet at any time it was not necessary. Such a thorough aversion, in fact, that he wasn't even going to wait for himself to get rained on. There was no time to run home, but there WAS time to find shelter. He darted into the park, all the fresh leaves on the trees turned up to receive the oncoming turn of weather, and searched for the thickest tree he could to cower beneath. Finding a suitable trunk, he sat, wrapping his arms around his knees and pulling them to him, resting his chin on the platform created.
And of course, it did rain. Folbran stared out across the green expanse of the park, waiting for it to end.

The last storm that Dinnye had experienced had left him in a rather distressed position, cradled in the arms of an older boy who had protected him from the viciousness of the outside world. Today, however, he had saw on the weather channel that It was just going to a light rain shower, nothing like the craziness of that night. With that thought in mind, the little melon boy thought he would take the scenic route home from his piano lessons, rather than going by taxi like he normally would.
It was days like this that Dinnye truly enjoyed, the warmth of his coat, the way his goulashes making squishie noises as he hopped puddle to puddle, and the pitter-patter of rain drops along the top of his melon-print umbrella. Everything was lovely, fresh, and clean... The rain seemed to simply wash the filth of the world away...
Something bright poked out from under a large tree not too far away. Humanoid like, and bright red like fire.. Curiosity got the best of the child, and he slowly trodded over to the child. The other was wet, and seemed to shiver.
"....?" There wasn't much he could do, especially since he was silent as an empty room... All he could do was tilt his head at the other child, and make a concerned face, hoping that the other would understand what he meant.

The tree hadn't provided cover like it was supposed to. This was the most probable cause of Folbran's current sour mood. He shivered, despite his knees pulled to his chest for warmth, the only dry spot on him being the small patch his chin sat on, having not moved since crouching down. The rest of him was dreadfully damp, the soft material of his clothing laying cold against him. Even worse, his hair had gotten just enough water to ruin its style, and it now lay slicked back against his temples, magnifying his misery tenfold. He lay somewhere between 'wet cat' and 'very unhappy camper' on the grand scale of foul auras.
He stared straight ahead and slightly down, focusing on a singular blade of grass, trying to will it to tear itself in half by will of dissatisfaction alone, and this preoccupation prevented him from noticing the pair of galoshes that came to a rest beside him.
After a small stretch of time, it became painfully obvious that the flora wasn't going to destroy itself for Folbran's entertainment. With a slight sigh, he sat up and rested against the trunk of the tree behind him, grimacing from the crick that had developed in his back. When he opened his cinder-colored eyes, he became acutely aware of the (rather adorable) bespectacled boy looking down at him, silent but for the sound the rain made on his umbrella. His previous horrid mood immediately melted, and he smiled, grateful for anything to take his mind off of the liquid evil falling from the sky.
Tilting his head, he started, only a little quizzically, "... Hello ...! How long have you been standing there, exactly?"

"...." Oh how he disliked rainy days at this very moment! The rain washed away what little words he had, leaving him even more silent than before, the ink running off his board faster than it could be written.. Though.. There was little he could do to change that at all.. Perhaps a little bit of physical interaction could communicate what he wanted with the bright child.
Kneeling down into the wet grass beside the other, he put his umbrella down beside him, removing his jacket, and placing it around the shoulders of the other. It was then when he realized just how fridged the air was around them! The other boy was going to get sick, he just knew it!
Luckily, one of the cabins that was nearby belonged to his father, and was always prepared for random excursions and getaways that tended to happen at the spazzy man's every whim. With a tap of the other's shoulder, the melon boy pointed towards the building, hoping the other child would understand and agree to getting out of the rain. He was POSITIVE there was something in there that could dry his clothes, or atleast, get him out of the wet ones for now with a replacement.

Folbran looked at the boy just a little longer, not sure which he was more puzzled over, the actions of the other or the reasons behind them. Surely the other had other things to do, and they doubtless were more important than running across a rainy field to help a soaking-wet and thoroughly sour-looking boy. He was happy, though, very much so, and appreciated the gesture a great deal. He felt good, even though he was soaking wet and his teeth chattered. Something about this boy made him... He didn't quite know. It was a new feeling. He liked it a great deal, though.
The jacket draped over his shoulders was warm from its previous occupant, and Folbran pulled it close around him. It had a faintly sweet aroma, like some fruit... Melon? Yes, definitely melon. He shuddered, hard, and hopped up off the ground, stomping his feet. "Brrrr! I think I've had enough of this cold and wet, how about you?"
As if to answer his question, the other boy pointed off a short ways in the distance, at a little cabin that was, hopefully, his home. There were still no words from the other boy, but Folbran had a feeling he understood the other's meaning. He looked up at the sky, at the little droplets that were falling, and nodded. "If we're going there, I say we get a move on. This will only get worse to spite us if we don't."
