Either you weren't paying attention, were out, or in class, but upon returning to your room you find that someone has slipped a slim red envelope under your door.

User Image

Flipping it over a few times in your hands, you eventually shrug your shoulders and decide not to throw it out just yet. Instead, you tear it apart to find a piece of pink paper inside. On the card is written a short message in deep red similar to the envelope.

Now what could all this be about?

Feel free to post your reaction to your student finding the invitation and what they decide to do about it. Are they interested or do they just curl their nose, crumple it up, and toss it into the trash?

The Speed Dating RP will happen by the end of this week (The link will be posted here if anyone misses it). Please state at the end of your post if your character is interested in attending in BOLD font so that I can make a list.

The look on Shehk's face was abject horror. She had been given an invitation that pretty much said DESPERATE all over it, looking at the piece of paper.... and then at the scissorbird on her desk... then back at the piece of paper, before cautiously offering it to the avian.

The scissors went mad with it, nearly nipping a finger or two before the Pricolici actually let it go.

NEVER. She'd be DEAD before she went to any such event.

Well..
......

Dead-again. She was already...okay, that slang was confused.

Deacon had been sleeping. That's the best word his mind could come up with. His head was still pounding from that blasted band battle! The bakeneko had risen from his bed with an irritated groan, clutching both hands to the sides of his head. Thanks to that event, Deacon had developed a strong distaste toward live music. If only for fear that he might be knocked out by an instrument... Or even one of the band members. Best to avoid concerts from now until the end of time, he'd decided.

Through his squinted vision, he saw something on the floor near the door to his dorm. An envelope? His ears turned back at it, ignoring it for the moment. Probably some note ridiculing him for his failure, or worse... Pictures of it.

By Jack... If there were pictures in that envelope, he'd hunt down who took them and he would end them.

After a hot shower and a few much needed pain relievers, he stepped out of the washroom and glanced down at the envelope again. Combing his fingers through his wet hair, Deacon growled to himself and went to retrieve it at last. He turned it in his hand as he walked to the bed, sitting upon the edge and frowning to himself when he found no writing on the front or back. Had it been from someone who wanted to piss him off, surely there would have been something written on it to spark his rage.

Tearing one side from the envelope, the tabby tugged out the card inside. He wrinkled his nose at the pinkness of it, turning it around to confirm there were only words on one side. Peeking into the envelope to confirm that this was indeed the only thing inside, he read it over at last. His sneer seemed to fade the closer he got to the bottom. When he'd finished, a sly grin was tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"About damn time I get junk mail that's interesting..." He muttered to no one but himself, lying the card and envelope on his bedside stand and thinking over what sorts of girls might show up. Ones that were extremely easy on the eyes, Deacon hoped.

Nothing could go worse than that band vs band battle, right?

Deacon would be attending.

Tahki just stared at the letter she'd found at her door today. What in the world was who ever who wrote this thinking? It sounded shady to the gryphon but at the same time she was pretty curious. Maybe it could be a little pick me up after the battle of the bands slaughter she had caused.

Double KO? Really? Just how did she accomplish something so fail. It could have been worse though and Tahki knew it.

Still now there was this letter at her door and she wasn't sure what to do. It could be a way to acquire more courage. But a date? Would she... Yeah, she had to. Tahki looked at the letter and gulped.

Tahki will be attending.

Totally entranced by the bright letter, Belladonna scooped it up from the floor in such an awkward motion that she fell to the floor in a happy heap of intense curiosity. Having just returned from tending to the plants in the gazebo for the garden club, she felt bad for a moment about getting dirt on such a pretty envelope, but needed to know what grand possibilities it held within more and instead ripped it apart into little shreds of bright red paper.

"Dash dating?!" Belladonna asked aloud, her brow furrowing at the thought of it. While she did want a beau in which to lose countless hours of love with, she wasn't so sure about how successful dash dating would be... Could she truly impress someone in ten minutes? Would they surmise her award winning personality in such a short amount of time? Wouldn't they just see a red head with too much time on her hands and not enough friends?!?!

"Dear Jack, please don't tell me you're going... You don't need a boyfriend, let alone one you met at something like that." Binx spoke from the bed, his little kitty limbs stretching out as he awoke from a nap. With slitted eyes Belladonna stared at him, clutching the letter to her chest.

"Oh! I'm GOING." She announced, jumping up from the floor and thrusting a hand into the air dramatically. "And I'll be the PRETTIEST ONE THERE!!" At least finding a date would be a nice consolation prize in the event her hair frizzed!

Junko was in her room busily sewing the first of the three kimonos she had been asked to make; Sin's was the easiest right this second, she knew for sure what its design would be, it was very easy to do for her. The colors, the pattern, the style...though she'd never made a kimono that was purposely made with a wide off-the-shoulder neckline. It was okay though! She could totally do this! She was so into her sewing that she didn't notice the red envelope that slid under her door at first, her floor had been cleared out to make room for a workspace, pinning and marking the places that needed to be sewn. She was working with blacks and purples and pinks, even a bit of white! So it was quite a shock to her when she saw a bit of red in her peripheral. She nearly panicked, convinced she had somehow cut herself and had been too distracted to notice she was gushing blood all over Sin's kimono and had totally ruined it...until she realized the red was not on her hands but just in front of her door on the floor. Oh, and it was an envelope. Not blood. What was that? Junko leaned over to grab it up and stare at it, turning it this way and that in search of some kind of return address. Who had sent this?! She couldn't find it...strange! Oh well?

"Well? Open it!" She eventually ordered impatiently. Junko pouted.

"I was about to do that anyway." She said as she neatly opened the envelope, carefully pulling out the pretty pink card inside. Oh? Was this from a girl? Oooh! It was an invitation? She'd never been invited to an event or anything like that before! This was exciting!

...Dash...Dating? Junko blinked, reading the message over again. But she wasn't...she'd only met a couple boils! She wasn't interested in dating anyone she hardly knew anyone, it wasn't exactly a priority to her! "It sounds interesting. And you've been wanting to meet new people, haven't you?" Make new friends, things like that? Junko looked fairly unconvinced still, looking toward Her at first and then down at the envelope. It did sound fun...but it said 'no longer wanting to just be "friends"'! What if she had to date someone? But what's the worst that would happen? She didn't...er...find romance? She was okay with that! Even if she didn't find romance she'd be meeting new people, right?

Junko decided she would attend.

The brush of.. something.. woke the dozing marid from her afternoon nap. Drawing a lengthy yawn from the demon as she rolled from her back onto her side, gathering the layers of plush blankets tighter around herself in a bid to get right back to her napping. Shifting about had only managed to dislodge the envelope from where it had fallen onto her face from the open window beside her bed, and pulling her blankets in drove a sharp corner into the hollow of her thought. She could ignore a great many things in the pursuit of rest, but not that, and with a disgruntled huff the water jinn dis-tangled herself from her bed covers to sit with her back against the wall. The letter held loosely between dark fingers as she stared down at it blearily.

After a moment or two she managed to chase away the last clinging vestiges of sleep, and tore the thing open to read the interior contents

"Oh my," she grinned, refolding the letter to place it on the bedside table. "What an interesting concept."

She had no interest in the supposed romance of the occasion, but the possibilities for fun and entertainment seemed boundless. So many of her peers were awkward, nervous beings in the presence of the opposite sex, and Yaya could admit in drawing delight from watching their fumbling attempts at courtship.

The Marid would be attending, if only to watch the show.

It took the Chupacabra a moment or two to fully read the invitation (her English was still weak in terms of reading and writing lately) and she looked it over with some mild interest. What did 'Dash Dating' mean? Or 'Eligble Singles' for that matter? Was this an event where people could meet people and become friends? If that was the case then the monster was interested because she needed more friends, not to mention she needed to get out there more as the VP of the school.

Her parents had been so proud of hearing about that, maybe they would be more proud to hear she had made a ton of friends at a 'Dash Dating' thing!

Chuppi will be attending only because she doesn't understand exactly what 'dash dating' means and she thinks it's part of her duty as the VP to go to events and make sure people know she's there.

Tess unfolded the invitation and re-read it for the nth time since she found it in her room. Her lips were twisted into a frown but it wasn't directed at what she was holding. No, it was directed at her indecision. Because she was torn. Figuratively. Well, she already was torn literally but that's not the point, Tess, focus please!

On the one hand, she had no luck with the Singles Board. It had been an embarrassing experience and she didn't really need any more blows to her self-esteem. She already felt undesirable given she was half the other ghouls in school. Literally.

On the other hand, this didn't seem like the proper thing a manananggal would do, and she has been trying to reinvent herself (though she was failing. Miserably at that). Maybe this was the opportunity she was waiting for to take the first step!

With a smile, Tess decided she is going!

After the one huge long fiasco that was Braum's life, he sighed and flopped onto his nest of blankets and pillows. Curling up after a very trying day, he drowsily noticed a spot of crimson on the floor next to his favorite cuddling pillow. Staring at it inquisitively, he cocked his head to the left, then the right, and darted forward to grab it. In short order he had it open, and was scanning the contents.

With a small, bitter chuckle, he laid his head back, staring at the ceiling while the letter laid on his stomach. With a sigh, he shook his head. He shouldn't go. He knew it. His last encounter with females had gone badly in Sex Ed, and what was worse, was when he became sober and less angry, he realized it had ALL been out there in front of BELLADONNA. With a grunt he flopped over, burying his face in the pillow while he brought the letter forward to hang over the side of his nest. Staring at it dangling there from his hand, he bit the pillow in thought.

Maybe she'd be there and he could explain himself? That alone was shocking to him, since he hardly EVER cared to explain his actions, and he hadn't specifically done anything WRONG in his personal measure. But still. If not Belladonna, he could drown out his cares and worries and take his frustration out on some poor young thing in the form of actively wooing her and going in for a quick shag before depositing her on his doorstep never to bother himself with her again the morning after. Yeah. That sounded like a very good stress reliever.

He decided he'd attend.

Tilting her head to the side, Kasumi held a crimson invitation in one hand. Where it came from, she wasn't sure, but it spoke of possibilities and did say that hopeless fawning at a distance would be one's undoing! Kasumi would have chewed her lip had it done any good, but she steeled herself and reread the message several times. Speed dating? She'd never heard of such a thing and didn't know what would come of it, but still. It could be a chance to meet more of the student body that she was supposed to be serving the needs of. Why not?

Tapping the letter against her chin, the ghost stared at her rather barren closet. Perhaps she could borrow an outfit from a friend?

Kasumi decided she would attend.

It might have been the first truly nice gesture anyone had made toward Harrow at Amityville, other than a few small notes jotted onto the chalkboard on his door -- and, strangely, it was greeted with suspicion, his eyes darting up and down the hall a couple of times before he grabbed it and ducked back into his own room.

There he stared over the page a few times, uncomprehending, before the words finally clicked into place and his eyebrows pulled tight together in the middle of his forehead. Dating was scary enough, but speed dating sounded horrifying. All the same, it might be a nice way to just meet people who weren't interested in pushing him around...

Instead of crumpling up the invitation and tossing it, he folded it carefully back into its envelope and tucked it into his breast pocket. He figured it couldn't hurt to go, so he'd go and give it a shot.

(( Pardon me if it's too late, I've managed to see it on probably the last day. ))

Returning from a walk around the school, though it was more like getting lost while just trying to check out the place, Colette had entered her room to hear a small crumple under her shoe. Why was there an envelope on her floor? She could have sworn she tested out her mail-basket and it worked fine. If someone stuck it in the slot of her door, it should have caught it. She figured she'd have to check that later, though it was odd, she knew she hadn't bothered to personally meet anyone yet.. ugh, she hoped it wasn't another note from a gnome.

Despite her swords' protesting snaps for Colette to let them gnaw the envelope to pieces, she hushed the two trouble makers nestled against her back, closed her door, and opened the envelope. It looked welcoming enough and at least matched her in color.

Oh Jack.. date? Why would anyone give her an invitation to this? Colette pondered and weighed her options. Continue to sit around and know no one or at least go and meet some ghouls and boas? She knew if she was ever going to work for someone or find battle-training partners she'd have to get out there. Oh well, it was obvious. Colette would just have to attend. She hoped to Jack she didn't get in over her head, and that her swords would behave.

Coralie quite enjoyed naps in the middle of the day, but unfortunately she wasn't exactly a deep sleeper. She often chose to ignore any goings on and continue to snooze, but she certainly heard things. It sometimes made those naps pretty unproductive...as was the case today. She was curled up on her bed, Wilfred half on half off her face, but draped over her eyes. Everything seemed fine but then...there was a pattering sound. The sound of something smacking paper.

At first she stayed where she was...but after what felt like 10 minutes of that sound she had to admit she was a little annoyed. So she slumped up from her bed, looking rather cranky too, to find Luka was playing with an envelope on the floor. He stopped for a brief moment to look up at her with wide, blue eyes. "Look!! This thing invaded our room! But I got it! I'll teach it to sneak in like that!" He then went back to batting the thing around with his little black paws.

Sighing Coralie snatched it away from him and took a look at it through sleepy eyes. What a weird thing...a red letter? Please, it wasn't some prank love letter or a poor attempt at advertising was it? She ripped the side open sloppily, not seeming to care about keeping the thing intacted, and red the piece of paper inside. It took her unwilling brain a few moments to process what it was saying.

Dash dating, hu?

She imagined a room filled with ghouls and one or two poor unlucky boils and then the awkward quick ten minute talk sessions that would follow. It was terribly silly, lame, unrealistic for actual means of meeting people. She grinned, huffing back a laugh, "Well, I have to say, this should be interesting." It was just something she had to see. For the fun of it, of course.

Coralie would be attending!
