She had returned home after her journey with her mother and had thought about nothing else excpet saying goodbye to people. She was excited and nervous, she was impatient and yet scared. So many feelings swirled within her, perhaps making her a little more hyperactive than normal.

She was using this new found energy to locate one of the lions that she called 'friend' despite his mean exterior and manner towards her.

Uumi or Rocky - as she liked to call him - had been the first other lion she had spoken to outside of her immediate family. He could be rather harsh but she was either to dumb to realise or simply chose to ignore it. She didn't want to think herself friendless and used Rocky to fill that position. Plus they weren't that different.

Both of them hated the pridelands.

Both of them wanted adventure.

And both of them were weaker physically than most others due to their difficult birthings.

As if the reminder of this triggered within her she slowed her step and padded across priderock, opening her maw to call for her...'friend'.

"Roooocky! Where are youuu?"

Uumikaji was stretched out behind one of the few rocks scattered across the top of priderock, gaze lingering on the sky. It was early morning, and the colors were beautiful right now. But of course, Uumi didn't watch the sky for it's beauty. Perhaps he was wishing some kind of death upon any birds that might fly by? Yes that was much more suited to something the red male would do.

His ears flicked back, hearing Kib's call. He cringed and his eyes narrowed, gaze coming off of the endless sky and flicking around. Maybe if he just stayed quiet and behind the rock? Though he knew she was leaving soon, which made him very jealous. He had to wait for his twin to be ready before he could leave. He'd been ready for a long time.

His tail flicked. "Over here, Peach." He called, shaking his head in a disappointed manner. Why was he even giving away his hiding spot? Ah well. Lions worked in mysterious ways sometimes.

"Oh!" She seemed pleasantly surprised at hearing his voice, making no comment on the nickname. She had long come to the conclusion that if she was to give him a new name it was only fair for him to do the same. "There you are!" She trotted over to sit beside him - but not too close as she knew he didn't like that.

"I've been looking for you." She announced, eyes scanning over his crimson fur. He was such a strange looking lion, intriguing in a way. He was like a flame as she was like a moth - drawn to him due to curiosity.

"I wanted to come see you before I went." She continued, "I know you'll be leaving soon too and that if I return you might not be here." She remembered him saying that he wasn't sure whether he wanted to return in a previous conversation.

He snorted, eyeing her a moment before his gaze flicked to the lands easily seen from priderock, as if he didn't really care why she was there or not. "I don't see why you would do such a thing, as I only intend to make you look a fool." He murmered, voice void of any anger. It was really just a cool calmness, now.

Ah so she wanted to say goodbye, how sweet. He thought he could barf. But he was the one that had been wondering if she'd left or not, before, hadn't he? When he bumped into her brother. A strange cat, he was. "I won't be back." He stated, and knew it for truth. He'd decided on that since their last conversation, though she was the first he'd told. He assumed Kiuma would be coming back to the pridelands, but something tugged at him and in an unsure yet still sure way he knew he wouldn't be coming back. Just not why. "So are you just here to say goodbye?" He snorted, glancing to her and raising a brow.

Kiburi tilted her head in a quizzical fashion before breaking out into a small giggle, reaching up to place a paw over her mouth in order to muffle the sound. "Silly Rocky! You're my friend!" She was still seemingly oblivious to the fact that Rocky didn't like her. "That's why I came to see you."

His statement about him not returning hurt more than the sentence before it and she shuffled a little closer. "I'll miss you and our little chats." For some strange reason she did genuinely like him. "I hope I'll get to see you again some time."

She released a held sigh and found herself gazing towards the horizon too. "Do you think we'll see each other again?" She had no idea how big the world truly was.

His eyes narrowed more at the giggle, watching her from the corner of his eye. Like many things, laughter made him uneasy. He cringed and huffed a little. Friend, he thought not. Maybe in her eyes, but certainly not in his. "My mistake." He murmered though, whatever. He'd just play along with it.

He bared his teeth just a little when she moved closer to him, but after a moment he let himself relax. It was okay. She wasn't going to cuddle up next to him or anything. His unease of lions being close to him was seeming to grow stronger as he grew older, Kiuma was the only one allowed to touch him right now. And his mother. "Something tells me we'll see each other." Unlike Kib, Uumi did not see the world as big. He thought it'd be fairly easy to bump into another once you've met them. He almost felt as though once you met a lion, liking them or not, you held some sort of connection. A connection that let you run into this other individual more than you came by several different strangers.

She drew in a contented breath, taking comfort in his presence. She would miss him dearly, he was such a strange lion and his habits always confused her. Never had she been upset too much by his words, unless you count the first time they met and his insult against her parents.

That was long forgotten though.

"You really think so?" Her blue eyes shone as deep and passionate as the sky on a summer's day. "I'll look forward to it." She nodded.

Then, "when will you begin your travels with you twin?"

Oh goody. He rooled his eyes and his paw rolled over a pebble, moving it back and forth. His gaze floated up to the sky. "Well it's just like you to look forward to such a thing." He said.

His tail flicked, curling about his hind legs. "We leave when she's done with her first hunt." He said, sounding rather bitter. "I have to wait, still." He sighed. He'd waited to long, he wanted to be rid of this place.

"You mean you won't miss me a teeny little bit?" She asked, putting on a pouty expression. She wanted to pounce on him, n** at his ears or pin his tail beneath her paws. But she knew she couldn't. He wasn't the touchy type of lion and she didn't want to overstep the boundaries.

She wiggled as she tried to contain the impulse to get closer to him, obviously finding it quite difficult.

"It's probably for the best your sister completes her hunt though. Just means you'll never go hungry." She gave him an understanding smile, knowing how he felt all too well. She was impatient to get going too.

Would he miss the annoying little brat? Well actually, yes. He just smirked at her, shrugging lightly. He'd let her keep wandering about it.

"I know it is. It will be rather upsetting if she fails it though." He thught he might just up and leave with out her then, and scavage for food. "And Im not a big eater anyhow." He murmered, tail flicking. His claws flexed a little. "So the only thing holding you back now is saying goodbye to your family, why bother?" He only knew this from his run in with mchele.

"I'm sure she won't fail!" She piped up cheerfully, tail flicking from side to side. "She always seemed to have a lot of energy from what I've seen of her." Actually Kiburi had found herself quite nervous of the red female, never getting close enough to actually talk to her.

"Yep, and I'll be saying goodbye today hopefully..."

She was a little miffed at not having her question answered but wondered if maybe he hadn't replied because he actually was going to miss her. She smiled a little at this and settled more comfortably, urge to pounce him fading.

She didn't want to ruin the goodbye just because of her childish impulses.

Uumi seemed so grown up in his mind compared to her and with a tilt of her head she found herself staring at his profile, the strong chin, the nose, the eyes encased with darker fur. He looked so wise as if he was much older than he actually was, and in fact she never remembered him acting like a cub. It was as if he had been born, an adult in a cub's body.

She found a sudden desire to show him the happiness that youth could bring. The joy a simple game of tag could bring. She wanted to show him that being young was a wonderful thing and that he should enjoy it.

She sighed softly, not realising that she was staring.

After a moment he nodded. "You're right." He said, simply. Kiuma was too intelligent, too blood thirsty to fail on a hunt. She'd even told him that she'd been able to catch little things quite well. He was just nervous that his leave of this place would be prolonged.

"And then you will be gone. Like a light spring breeze." He murmered, and almost hit himself for saying something so.. cheesey. He stared hard at the sky now. Just let her say anything.

His ear flicked, the silence was a bit weird. He view Kib as a chatterbox, really. He glanced to her, and away again. Perhaps waiting to hear more words. Growing uneasy he looked to her again. Why was she staring? His eyes narrowed. "What the hell is wrong with you?" He hissed, but oinly because he was so uncomfortable. He also wanted to ask 'what is so wrong with me that you stare so freely?' but he could not bring himself to do so. He didn't want to know what was wrong with himself that badly.

She snapped from her reverie feeling a blush warm her skin beneath the pale fur. What was wrong with her? This wasn't Kib at all! Where was her voice? Why had it suddenly departed from her? She suddenly felt very shy and unable to put her thoughts into words.

Rocky wouldn't appreciate them anyway.

He'd laugh if she said that she simply wanted him to act more like a cub.

Her ears drooped a little and she swallowed nervously. "I was just thinking about how grown up you look now." She said, it wasn't a complete lie but it was good enough to hide some of the truth. "You have a pretty face." She tried to hide the small smile that was creeping onto her face but failed.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2006 6:33 am

Her blush only seemed to make him more nervous, and he looked quickly away. That landscape suuure was interesting, the way Uumi stared at it. Like he'd never even seen it before!

His ears flicked, and he snorted a little. He was about to tell her that of course he looked grown up, he was growing up after all. That was, until she told him he had a pretty face. He began to choke imedietly on his words, eyes shutting tightly as he tried to get over the small fit. "Don't... say things ... like that." He finally managed to calm himself.

He still didn't look over at her, though. A frown flickered onto his maw. A pretty face? he was highly doubtful.

She gave a small but rather nervous sounding laugh and nodded, wondering what was so interesting on the horizon. Maybe he was thinking about all the adventures that waited for him beyond the skyline? She knew she often thought that when gazing out across the lands from this pinnacle.

"Why not?" She asked finally when he replied to her compliment. "It's only the truth!" She insisted, her initial embarassment fading as she grew more comfortable with the idea of flattering others. Though...Rocky seemed more uncomfortable than flattered.

She frowned in a way similar to his - a strange and rare expression for someone as carefree as her. "You'll be a very handsome lion when you're older."

She had never really paid attention to males before - especially in this way - so...did that mean she was growing up? The thought excited her, thus proving that she was more than ready and capable to set out on her own. She was growing up!
