What to do if you are totally broke? I'm going to make my pets gifts because I know they won't care. But I don't know what to do for the rest of my family. I was going to make a calendar for my mom but she just bought herself one sad

i've found food gifts always go over well, wheither you make cookies from scratch or homemade jellies and salsas. these seem to be universal gifts heart

So make her a calendar on the computer with little kid pictures of you. She will love it, trust me. Write a short paragraph about the particular picture, memories, especially if it's a picture of both of you.

I still get coupon books from the kids sometimes, and I really like them----you know, the "Good for one kitchen cleaning" type things? Washing the dog, washing the car, mowing the lawn, making dinner, that kind of stuff. I don't use the coupons very often, but when I do, the help is always greatly appreciated! Manicures, pedicures, all that stuff is great, too.

We are all so busy. I am always happy when we can just be together long enough for a girl's movie night, complete with munchies and manicures. We have such a great time talking about EVERYTHING!

You are always the best gift you can give.

@ Strega I am baking organic cookies (secretly hoping to infect the rest of my family with a healthy lifestyle) but that's just to pitch in with the family dinner. Almost everyone is making something, except my brother, one cousin and my uncle... But they get away with it cause they're significant others do it. (Or in my brother's case, our parents do it.) So ya I'm making a plate this year.

I'm making xmas cards for both grandmothers and the family I use to babysit for. Hmm, maybe I could frame the pic the professional photographer did of me an my dog for my dad. I txt it to him and he called me flipping out saying it was so good it should be a poster.

I personally think I look really tired in that shot lol, with my eyes half open.

Then I also had an idea to make everyone T-Shirts. My brother in particular was jealous of the club that had all matching tshirts but each had their name and their dog's name stitched on the back. So I might look into doing something like that.

My moma only uses a calendar at work. So she really doesn't need a second. The coupon thing is nice, I tend to save that for mother's day though. I'm so use to going overboard at xmas, my whole family is. I guess it's just, they get me something uber nice and I feel bad if I don't come up with something equally nice.My brother got me an iphone for my bday, I don't think a tshirt really compares.

If food is not an option, look up some arts and crafts stuff that you could make. I used to make pen holders and business card holders out of popsicle sticks, toothpicks and other similar scrap wood for my teachers and tutors.

You could also make a jigsaw puzzle if you have some thick cardboard lying around.

Turns out my mom just wanted the calendar for the pics. I guess she wants to frame em or something... I dunno, the point it I'm gona go ahead and make it. And as for my dad, I found a site that lets you make desk calendars too. I bought my brother a shirt off cafepress.com where I have my own store and had a 10 credit from my commission. Plus there was a special going on so the shirt ended up being half price yay.
