Nanako Omahari, guardian of Cross Academy, promised the night class a special guest would appear at the meeting set for the night. Part-way throught the meeting, Nanako's long-missed childhood friend, Hiroku Ravenscyr, returns to the Academy after a three-year hiatus. His return would seem to be a happy occasion, but not all is right with Hiroku, he carries within him a dark, terrible power that forced him to leave Cross Academy those three years ago. Hiroku moves in the Academy, and all seems well for the first few weeks. He bears the power over flame within him, in conjunction to Nanako's power over ice and water. But one night, as Hiroku is in his room alone, he taps into the other power within him. His hand ignites in a black flame, the very same flame that caused the burn scar Nanako carries. Hiroku dismisses the flame, albeit with difficulty. He continues through normal life at the Academy, until one night, at Lotus Park, he is present at a not-so-friendly skirmish between Kuro Tenpi and Nanako. The power released by the two releases the power sealed within Hiroku, which reveals itself to be an entity called Scyr. Scyr attacked the Academy three years ago, and was sealed inside Hiroku as a safety measure. Scyr absorbs even more power from a passing vampire girl, Keysa Koola, and fights off Nanako and Kuro until Nanako is able to use Hiroku's cross to seal Scyr away. The cross shatters, and so does the seal. Hiroku and Scyr are separate beings once more. Hiroku loses his control over the shadows, but, to his amazement, finds out he can now control light energy. Nanako's other side, Yuuka, pays Scyr a visit, which leaves Scyr weakened, but very angry. Scyr creates a black-fire energy orb the size of a football field, and throws it at the others, attempting to destroy them and a goodly part of the Academy. Hiroku and Kuro both fire white-flame energy beams at the orb, but its descent is unstoppable. Nanako eventually resorts to the other function of her ice powers, and they drain the orb's energy into nothingness. Scyr, distracted by an attempt at an attack by Keysa, does not notice this until it is too late. Scyr then flys at the ice, attempting to destroy the weakened group. Hiroku springs out from behind the ice, and channels the remainder of his energy into a pure light-energy beam, with which he destroys Scyr forever. Hiroku passes out from the strain the loss of energy put on his body, and Keysa cares for him while he is out cold. Kuro and Nanako managed to have kept enought energy to walk, and both leave for their respective dorms. The shadow of evil has passed from Hiroku's heart, but its memory will never fade. The battle is won, but the war is just beginning. Nanako's other side still runs rampant within her. Will Hiroku find a cure for her as well? Only time will tell.....
