Valeri and Miranda had come to the park together but they weren't within each other's company. Instead Valeri sat on a nearby park bench going over some important looking papers while Miranda busied herself at the playground that was still within view of the park bench. The rat-girl was very adept at playing on her own as she just went from sandbox, to small jungle gym and now to the swings. She had discovered much to her delight that she could reach them much easier to seat herself and even push herself on the swing to some extent.
For now she just took on a lazy sort of swinging rhythm as she gazed around under the brim of her wide hat for playmates. She hummed thoughtfully as she gazed about. There weren't many children on the playground and those that were there had already paired off and were deep in their games where she didn't want to intrude.
The first child that wandered up to the playground, she decided, would be her playmate and they would have to enjoy it!

And that first child happened to be a little fox boy, whom flicked an ear and glanced at the swings dubiously, both of his hands pushing his glasses on and making sure they were completely covering his eyes!
He glanced to the rat girl, eyes widening in disbelief. Another animal like him? With paw hands and everything?! He couldn't believe it!
He padded over as fast as he could, not accounting for how uneven the ground was, and ended up falling flat on his face right before he got to the swings.
How embarrassing.

She'd spotted the boy as he was coming to approach him and then watched as the boy clumsily made friends with the ground apparently face first. Miranda was torn between laughter and concern and instead she opted to feel concern first and then laugh when she was very much certain that the boy was well.
The rat-girl slid out of her swing and wandered a bit closer to and offered her hands to him to help him up, "You okay? You didn't break anythin' did ya?" she grinned still trying to hold back a case of the giggles. Miranda couldn't help it. It just seemed so funny when the boy was suddenly down for the count when he was very excitedly walking toward the swings just moments before.
Miranda waited patiently for her help to be accepted or denied.

Jerking his head up, the boy scowled slightly as he attempted to sit up and right his glasses, his eyes clenched shut in a very silly manner. He finally took her hand and helped himself up, giving a slight smile.
"Tanks..." He muttered softly, both ears twitching. He glanced to the swings and pointed. "Wat r'dos?"

She didn't seem to mind or notice the scowl and just waited again repressing a small giggle though it was hard but she managed it. When he took her help she gently pulled him up and nodded. Miranda's gaze turned toward the swings and then looked at the boy, "Tho'th'e are th'wings. You put your butt in the th'eat and you have th'omeone pu'th'h ya th'o you can th'wing." she explained readily.
"Atlea'th't it work'th better that way when you're th'mall. When you're bigger you can pu'th'h you'th'elf," Miranda added after a bit of thought so as not to discourage the boy.

"Ooooh." The boy murmured softly, ears perked up as he walked - slowly - over to them, pushing one experimentally and eyeing it dubiously. He then put an arm over it, waving his hand on the other side and watching it curiously, and then hanging from it with his tail swishing. He tried to climb up himself, legs pumping as if it would give him some step up by using the air.
