Sometimes it feels like they only express interest when I like someone else. This guy Scott from my high school and college has often made comments about me being "smoking hot" and always saying things like "You're such a dork, but that's why I love you!" or "You are such a bozo, but you're MY bozo!" and calls me "hun" and makes only-half-joking remarks about going out with me. Like, all the time. A mutual friend of ours even asked me for my number, in front of him, and I knew it was for him, because we barely know each other... plus she turned to him right after and said "See, was that so hard?" so he obviously talks about me / getting my number while I'm not around, as well. I had a text conversation with him tonight...
Quote:
Scott: Hey hun. We need to go out sometime lol
Me: What do you mean?
Scott: Like go to the movies or go out to eat or something. ;)
Scott: Does it sound like im asking you on a date?
Me: Isn't that what a date is?
Scott: There is no point in asking questions you know the answer to though you know? And i know the answer to that question. Lol
Scott: Not really. It can be considered hanging out these days
Me: I'm confused now xD I just want to warn you, I have like no money
Scott: Ill pay ;)
Me: I just want to let you know, because of certain things you've said before, I don't want you to get the wrong idea or anything but I like another guy
Scott: I understand. Do you think he likes you
Scott: I'm gonna go to bed. Im real tired
Me: I know he does, but he just moved out of state which is why we're not dating
Scott: So you are holding on even though he is not here. Is that healthy? Lol
Me: He will be back eventually, I told him I'd wait for him. Plus we've been good friends for a long time
Me: I know you said it wasn't like a date, but little things you say sometimes make it kind of seem like you might want it to be more than hanging out, that's all
Scott: Sorry it seemed that way...
Me: Sorry if I got the wrong idea, I just didn't want you to get the wrong idea either
Scott: Alright. Well goodnight
Scott: Im also high. So thats probably why i sounded the way i did. Im sorry :(
It's okay I just want you to know there was someone else
Scott: I know... Night :/

Ugh, I just know he's going to act all butt hurt about it or not let it go. Or be passive aggressive about the whole thing. I was telling my friend Mike about him, and Mike said I should use him as an excuse, as in say I'm dating Mike. Which is awkward because I couldn't exactly say "Thanks for the offer, but I'll use your best friend as an excuse because I actually do want to date him." I already went through drama with that once, don't want to do it again.
