She thought it would be an enjoyable dinner. She thought it would be quiet. She thought many things. But now, all the classy brunette could think was 'oh god, oh god, oh god, make it go away.' Nathan Darrow was like a bad pimple that was easily popped, but would show back up even bigger and pussier than before. He was rotten.

"You know," she began, "as much as I enjoy our times together, and believe me, I do, there's a time and place for everything." Elegancia smiled at the waiter, who was staring at the two of them expectantly.

He asked if they were dining as a date.

"No, no, we're not. He'll be leaving soon. Hopefully." Elegancia looked back up at the waiter, then threw him a look of condescension. "Could you, like, go away for a bit?" She snapped her fingers away from her body, trying to get him to leave them be.

Elegancia reclined back in her silky chair, crossing her arms and looking at Nate expectantly. "Anyways, what is the pleasure today?" How did he even see her? This was the last time she would take a window seat. As she waited for a logical response from Nathan, she began to recall how... embarrassed she felt when Nathan's goofy-self waltzed in, throwing such a hell-raising look at her.

What was it that he wanted? A good meal? Money? She could indulge in the latter, but wasn't too sure about the former.

And here he thought that nothing good was going to happen today!

It had started off as boringly as ever. Home at the apartment with Tony, who left in the morning for work and left him alone for the early part of the day. He did nothing with his time, bumming around, shirking off his duties, not bothering to go out on patrol or do anything to help anyone. It was one of his many days off. The hours dragged by, and he went out to find something out of doors to do.

Time passed, nothing came up. Until he was strolling by a restaurant and happened to peek in. Bingo. Slipping inside, he said his table was waiting and he slipped into the seat across from Elegancia with a big grin plastered on his face.

"We will be dining together, though not as a date. Or I'll be dining, on her bill. Either way. Can I see a menu please?" He grinned, "Just ignore her, she's a bit moody. Must be her time of the month."

The waiter seemed to like Nathan more than Elegancia in that moment, and he gave the boy a menu and said he would return when they were ready to order. Nate laughed.

"Well, I saw you in here, all alone, and figured I'd boost your spirits with some company. And also, I'm hungry, you've got money, and you owe. So it all works out. Get stood up? Why you in this place alone? Besides the obvious 'have no friends' bit."

There was nothing she could do, of course, but get huffy and make angry faces at Nate. "And what, exactly, do I owe you for?" The brunette wanted to throw the biggest temper tantrum in the world, but because she was in such a public place with many watchful eyes of the upper-class, Elegancia decided against it. Maybe the whole 'kill with kindness' approach would work on Nate? She'd have to wait and see.

"But that doesn't matter, now, does it? The present is that you're here, and here we are, dining together." She choked back the need to throw a glance of hate at Nate, feeling the heat seethe in her brain since it couldn't escape out of her eyeballs. "Anyway, how are you today? Robbed any good stores? Exploded any city property?"

Elegancia snapped her fingers once more at the waiter, who was dealing with another customer, and then hollered in his direction. "Sir, sir, we're ready, sir!!" After a sufficient amount of wait-time, the man made his way over to their table. "Uhm, yes, I'll take the coq au vin and pomegranate juice," she paused, then continued, "and I'm not sure if I'll want dessert or not. Check back with me." She then waved a soft hand in the direction of Nate, to signify that it was his turn to place an order.

Nate seemed to thrive on her angry faces, grinning broadly as she huffed at him. He shook his head, laughing. "You already forgot? You agreed to pay me to keep your secret safe, remember? Not that this covers it, but this might help pay back all the debts you owe me, anyway. Because I save you so often."

He grinned at that.

Not missing her change in attitude, Nate eyed her suspiciously. He did not believe her for a moment, and absolutely knew she was just trying to save face. Looking around at the people nearby, who were all but ignoring them, he decided he could have some fun with this.

"I'll take one of everything you're making right now," he said lightheartedly to the waiter, leaning back in his chair. He could not have been grinning any broader, his teeth showing as he beamed at her. "And that'll be on her check."

Ohhhhh, how kind of him! What a gentleman! How could Elegancia ever forget that he was keeping her deep, dark secret? The very same one that she was keeping for him? She brought a hand to her chin and sighed into the palm of her hand, through a look of pure hatred at Nathan. His very presence irked all of Elegancia's buttons-- the bad ones. If idiocy was given a human form, Nathan was it. So maybe her faux-kindness act wasn't working, that was just fine.

Acting wasn't her forte, anyways.

When Nate ordered one of everything off the menu, she dropped her mouth incredulously. She could afford it, of course, but it was just the principle of the matter. She didn't want to pay for it, that's what mattered! Unfortunately, the waiter was off, his head hanging in worry. Would he be able to bring everything out properly? Luckily, it wasn't so much the fact that they had quantity, but quality.

"You dolt!! Whatever you're doing, it's not working!! You have my secret, yes, but I have your's too!!" She slammed a fist onto the table, then continued as calmly as she could, "fine, fine. Fair's fair, right? If I pay for this meal, do you promise to leave me alone? You can dine as much as you'd like, then that's it. I never want to see your face again. Deal?"

Nathan grinned at her, flashing his teeth as he leaned back in his chair, scooting it out so he could balance on the back legs while putting his feet up on the table. The plates clattered under his shoes, ankles crossed.

"Whatever do you mean?" He asked innocently, "I'm hungry. I couldn't decide. Did I forget to order tasters? My bad. Oh well, we can share. You're a big girl, right? I'm sure you can eat all this and more. You look like you already have."

There was fun to be had in knowing what might piss someone off. Nathan knew, for instance, that Elegancia got mad very easily, about a whole range of things. And that she was trying very hard not to show it, though that effort was, in Nathan's humble opinion, falling a bit short. In any case, he was saying all the things a normal person would shove to the back of their mind. The things they knew they could say, just to be hurtful, but knew the other person too well to let them slip out because of that very fact.

"Look, I doubt anyone is going to believe you if you say anything about me. And anyway, what if they do? The difference between you and me is that you care. Me? I'm the kind of guy that likes trouble. Danger." He grinned again, clearly having way too much fun. When she offered him the promise, though, he laughed.

"Oh, of course. What kind of a guy do you think I am? I'll leave you alone. I mean, unless we cross paths again. And I'm bored. You know how these things go."

"All of those nasty things you said aside," she spoke calmly, "I think we can have an enjoyable meal together, don't you? I mean, it's not like it would be too unheard of--" she trailed off, then began subaudibly, "we, as sailor soldiers, ought to be nice to eachother, right?" She sounded unsure of herself, as if she didn't have confidence in her statement. Not in the least. "C'est la vie!"

Elegancia crossed her arms and looked at Nate in disdain, his clunky shoes up on the table-- was he bereft of any humanity?! Honestly, this was a five-star restaurant, and she'd be damned before she was asked to leave and never come back again. She'd have to act soon, though, since people of the upper class were all staring and chattering amongst themselves, like they always did. For once, the snooty booty took it upon herself to do something than shoot her mouth off. Pushing her chair out and standing up, Elegancia waltzed over to Nathan's side of the table. In as swift and elegant a movement as possible, Elegancia pulled Nate's chair back, grabbed his legs, and placed them on the floor daintily. She then leaned over his chair and over his shoulder, stuck a finger in his cheek, and said, in as threatening of a tone she could manage: you will behave. You will.

In a minor haughty huff, Elegancia trotted back to her chair and smiled daintily at Nate. Perfect timing, too-- three waiters were approaching with their exquisite (and entirely superfluous) meal-- "oh, good! I'm absolutely staved. You'd better enjoy it, Nathan."

"Enjoyable meal together, huh? If you say so," he laughed, knowing that he, at least, was going to enjoy it. He doubted she would, though. Still, the way she was daring him to stay, and trying to make them look like friends, was just a challenge to the frosty haired boy.

He was going to make her evening a living hell.

"Whoa!" he looked at her in surprise as she pulled his chair, thinking she was about to spill him out of it backwards. But instead she caught his legs and forced him to sit properly. He grinned as she leaned over him, jerking his head to the side to avoid her finger as best he could.

"Your crone like nails kinda hurt," he informed her, completely ignoring her intended threats, "I thought frilly girls like you were supposed to be all into manicures? Are you going for the hag witch look? That would explain the face, I guess."

He looked at the food, hooting loudly.

"Alright! I'm starved, too. Hey, is your food here somewhere? I'm not sharing." Like he could eat all of that food on his own. He'd get through one, maybe two plates if he was lucky. But that's what doggy bags were for, right? At least Tony was going to eat well tonight. Might make up for all the bad stuff Nate had done so far. Maybe.

Disregard, disregard, disregard, Elegancia told herself. It wouldn't do to throw a tantrum in such a fabulous restaurant, especially since she already had Nate going against her. She watched angrily as the waiters placed plate by plate, soup by soup, and basket by basket of food onto their table. It certainly wasn't elegant, and people continued to stare and whisper amongst themselves. The only thing she could do was look about and smile, then look at Nate. She'd have too look away immediately, of course, lest she made such a face of hate and disgust that Nate would melt away into smithereens of pure focused Elegancia hatred.

"I don't care what you say," she began, "we're going to have a lovely night. I'll make sure of it." Elegancia was scheming. Oh, boy, was she scheming. as the waiters flounced off to do whatever it was that they did in the back (mainly b***h about customers), the brunette watched Nate figuratively 'dig in' to a plate of food. She had never understood that phrase, since she had only been around people with proper dining manners, but after seeing Nate gorge himself, she truly understood what it meant. And then she knew what to do.

Eying a bowl of pea soup, Elegancia inched a hand closer to it until she pulled it in front of herself. She did so as skillfully as she could manage without Nate noticing, which wasn't too hard between him munching away and hiding behind the myriad amounts of food on the table. Then Elegancia picked up a tiny trinket of salt, poured the entire thing into the pea soup, and smiled diminutively.

"You know, Nathan," she said meekly, "I would really like this soup right here... It's my favorite..." It was disgusting how much Elegancia was beginning to get used to Nate. She knew that once those words left her mouth, the pea soup would be the very next thing he'd want to eat.

Nate could see that she was struggling to keep her cool. But he was distracted as all the food came in. They had to pull up another table to put some of the items on, as they didn't all fit on the table. He grinned.

Glancing up, he caught her expression before she turned away, and he thrived on it. She hated him, and he loved it. Adored it. She was miserable and angry in his company, and that made her hilarious and fascinating. Running into her this evening was probably one of the best things that had ever happened to him, short of being able to 'save' her life and get her in this debt in the first place.

He arched an eyebrow at what sounded like a threat, though, wondering if he had been underestimating her. Should he have been more on edge, more prepared for anything she might have tried?

Whatever: there was food to be eaten. And he enjoyed it with gusto, offering some to people around them, but never to Elegancia. Not the most polite date, surely.

He looked up when she said she liked the soup in front of her.

"Oh yeah?" He watched her skeptically, looking down at the soup and then back up at her. "Here." He stood up so he could lean over all the plates, dipping a spoon into the soup and holding it up to her mouth. "Have some. I'm not all bad. It is your favorite."

Elegancia slapped the spoon away, pea soup splattering on the floor next to their table. Oops! "You didn't let me finish what I was going to say!!" She began to think, as quickly as possible, for a solution to the scheme she had concocted. As sweetly as humanly possible for Elegancia, she continued, "what I wanted to say was that... It's my favorite, and I want you to experience it as well. It is truly exquisite."

Master work! Artisan, in fact!

"Yes, so, take another spoonful, and quietly slurp it down... You'll find how delicious it is... Scrumptious, in fact!" Elegancia reclined in her chair, smiling at Nathan coyly. She'd be laughing soon, no doubt about it. Hopefully he'd think twice before taking advantage and sullying her social status next time! Nathan really did need a lesson, too-- obviously, his parents weren't fit to give him one.

Nate frowned as the pea soup threatened his other food. He looked back up at her in surprise and with a slight look of disapproval. But he didn't back down, remaining as he was, leaning over the table.

"That was rude," he pointed out with minor disinterest. He was keen on letting her explain herself, though, watching and tilting his head as she spoke.

"Oh, really? Why don't we try it together? You feed me, I feed you, right? Even ground. I mean, if it's your favorite and all." He wasn't sure he was even walking into a trap, but it was definitely fun. He grinned at her, picking up another spoon and offering it to her, while keeping the one he had used before in hand.

He wasn't sure she'd go for it, but he'd try the soup anyway. Whatever she thought she was doing, he was going to prove he was better.

For whatever reason, Elegancia went red in the face. Not beet-red, but rosy red. "Well, Nathan," she began quietly, "I've already tried it. I... I don't see why we both have to enjoy it..." It wasn't so much the fact that Elegancia had tainted the soup that bothered her, it was Nate's suggestion. As a matter of fact, she was so flustered that she had forgot that she had even poured an entire trinket of salt into the soup. Looking at his mouth, which involved his lips, Elegancia rolled her eyes in embarrassment.

"Honestly, don't you have any, like, boundaries? But... whatever." First, Elegancia grabbed the spoon out of his hand and put it into her's. She wouldn't be letting him stick that in her mouth-- gross! His cooties were the last thing she wanted. Yes, Elegancia still believed in cooties. After, she picked up her own spoon and handed it to him. "On the count of three, okay? And no shoving it in my nose! I'll get mad!"

She dipped the spoon into the soup, held it up, and prepared to feed it to Nate...
PostPosted: Thu Dec 09, 2010 11:59 am

Nate noticed her go red, but attributed it to sheer anger. He was almost used to her constantly being angry with him anyway, but that did not deter him from holding his ground and keeping the spoons leveled. One offered, one waiting for her to taste from. When she took the spoon he was giving her he grinned broadly.

He may or may not have forgotten why they were doing this in the first place. It seemed they were both trapped in the trap they had set for the other, but neither was willing to pull out at this point.

He laughed. She was so prissy! Oh well, he didn't care. The idea of her nose hadn't occurred to him, but he didn't go for it since she had suggested it, just grinning wickedly at her and then offering her the spoon while he took a sip from hers, making sure she wasn't cheating.

Then he paused. What. The. Hell.

Trying very hard not to gag, he was trapped with this terrible salt death soup in his mouth, not sure he had the physical capability to swallow it down. He looked at her, then forced it down, hiding his gags as best her could. "I could see why you like that," he said, his voice altered from the effort an suffering, "fits you perfectly."

She puckered her lips in disapproval. Nate's charm (if you could call it that?) must have been lost on Elegancia at that moment, as she pushed his hand away the moment she slurped down the soup he offered her. "Blech!! What were you thinking?! It was obviously tainted, or are you like. Mentally incapacitated?!" Reaching towards a glass of water in a hurry, wanting to get the awful taste out of her taste buds, Elegancia accidentally tipped the cup over, resulting in a spill across the table. "Now look what you made me do, you jerk!" Of course, the brunette snapped her fingers at a waiter to come clean the mess up.

"Are you ever nice? I mean, really, why are you even here?" For whatever reason, Elegancia had reached her breaking point. Every girl had one-- it hadn't been met the time on the highway that resulted in her missing her spa date, nor the time she was thrown into a lake, nor the time when she was essentially blackmailed-- but now, when he ruined her high-profile dinner, her breaking point was broken. But what could she do? Cry? He'd probably like that! But why was he able to get under her skin so easily? Not even a youma could bother her so much! "Is there something about me? Something I've done to you?"
