Truth had always come easily to Amitiel, he was born with his powers over truth. In many ways it had been discouraging, for the familar lines said to sooth and calm a child never worked on him... it wasn't as if his mother could say 'no need to worry Amitiel, its just a tribe trying to kill us I promise we will be ok as long as we leave for the moutains now' instead she had tried the 'shhhhh little Amitiel, we are safe you father will protect us there is nothing to worry about' and Amitiel had scented the lie straight away. When he had been a foal he had not been so considerate about his ability, calling people on their lies almost as quickly as the allowed them to spew from their mouths. But as he grew up he started to realise that most seemed to need their lies, they protected them in a strange way, made them feel less vunderable in a world so vast and full of darkness. Amitiel had come to realise that he needed to use more tack, learn when he needed to call another on a lie and when he needed to let it go. It had taken him years to master but Amitiel liked to believe that most didn't find his ability too disturbing, he had instead start to wonder if they even realised how many lies he heard and ignored... perhaps they were not afraid because they believed he could not scent all their lies? It mattered not now. Right now Amitiel was escaping. Escaping from the life that he had created for himself, it was built upon lies... those of those around him since Amitiel himself could not lie. He had believed he was needed, protection and aid had called to him.... but they had been using him, and day by day they were starting to steal his intergrity so he left. He was now wandering in the mountains, the early morning sun already warming him, melting the ice that was starting to form over his heart. He needed to watch the sunrise, it was need that wiggled and iched his insides.... he would seek a good spot, this he vowed.

Caoimhe sighed as she flew towards the mountains near her new home. This land was odd. Here it was fall, but the weather was still rather warm. This morning was the exception, it was crisp and cool. She liked that, it was a relief from the usual heat. She was glad the sun wasn't up yet, usually that meant that the heat would start soon. Wheeling around, she banked left and landed on a rocky outcropping. She rustled her wings and folded them against her.
Trotting along the ledge, she smiled wistfully to herself. This place she was looking down at reminded her of home. The white mare finally came to a stop on a larger outcropping that faced the horizon of the eventual sunrise. If all the places around here were like this, she might learn to eventually love this place, her new home.
A shadow fell over her, causing her to look up and notice the green soquili above her. She'd never seen a soquili with so many wings! Feeling bold, she called out in a friendly voice, "Hello up there!"

The greeting snapped Amitiel out of his state of musing, he had just headed east and found a good location to watch the sunerise when the voice had awoken him to the world around him, like a cold shower he was instantly aware, his eyes darting immediatly to the source.... his breath was stolen from him, the mare who had summoned him from his thoughts was beautiful, a pelt of the lightest white that seemed to sparkle with a hint of lilac. A delicate detail of roses and vines crawled up her legs only adding to her beauty, her hair was long and well groomed, purple and sparkly and topped with the longest unicorn horn he had ever seen.
Landing not too far from her he bowed his head low in greeting before catching his breath once more and reply, "Good morning fair maiden." He forced his eyes away from her and to the location where the sun would soon rise, at the moment there was a find drizzly mist that coated and clung to the air creating a fantasy of white, he had heard once that many believed this state of the world to be when heaven flooded it. Amitiel believed that they believed it was true. Just as there was a point when heaven flooded there was a time when hell flooded also, that was when the earth was shrouded in the thickest and most impenitrible darkness imaginable.
He was silent for a moment, simply watching the spot before him. Eventually he returned his attention to the mare and asked, "Would you mind if I joined you? I long to watch the sunrise as I do every day.... I can find another spot though if you prefer."

Caoimhe blushed prettily at the stallion's compliment. She'd never been called a fair maiden before! Smiling, she bowed as well, "Good morning sir." At first she had been startled by his appearance, shed been quite wary lately what with that batwalker Terra about. With a shake of her mane, she straightened up, ears perked towards the handsome stallion.
He was a very lovely sort of dark green with splashes here and there of light green. His throat, belly, and hooves were a startling contrast of white while his wings (all of them!) where like hers, white with different colored tips, green in his case. His hair, oh his hair was divine! Long and such a lovely mix of colors with golden sparkles in it! Most interesting was the scarf around his neck and the bracelets on his legs.
She indicated a spot next to her and replied to his question with, "Of course you may join me. To be honest, the sunrise seems much more like something to watch with company rather than alone." She chuckled wryly, "Maybe that's just me though since I'm alone in a new land."

He scented only the truth from her, it was nice not to have to question himself straight away... and the fact that she had used the word 'honest' had his heart doing little backflips. Truth and lies where things many took for granted, he had met many who had been telling themselves the same lies for so long that they could no longer tell truth from lie. He hoped that such a thing never happened to him... but his ability to scent lies and to only speak the truth he suspected it would never happen.
"Yes, watching the sunrise is far nice with company." Graciously he took a seat beside her, lowering himself in such a way that the mass of hair was flung on the side opposite her so that it couldn't annoy her. The fine pieces of gold and blue beads that where braided in his hair was a constant reminded of the fragility of life.
He watched the space before them for a moment, already he could feel a slight warming of the air but could not see the faintest rays of red and orange lick the sky yet. So he turned to his sunrise companion for the day, smiled softly and asked. "A new land? Do you like it here?" Amitiel had learnt a long time ago to avoid too many questions that would allow for a truth or lie to be spoken, simply because hearing lies frustrated him.... yes, it was that reason that Amitiel mostly avoided talking of families and friends, places others had been or longed to go.... he only asked such things when he was interested or testing for a speaker of truth like himself. He was yet to find someone who didn't lie every now and then, and although the occasional lie didn't bother him if the user did so to protect himself Amitiel felt true anger at those that simply lied as if it was second nature to.
He couldn't be certain what he was doing now... was he testing her or just curious? There was such a sadness in her eyes and voice as she spoke that Amitiel was sure she was miserable here... was a part of him hoping he could take away some of her pain? He didn't know.
As if just remembering he had not yet introducted himself he blurted out, "Oh excuse me, M'lday.... I have not yet introduced myself, my name is Amitiel.... Angeni...." He had been about to say 'Angeni of truth' but had caught himself at the last minute, he just hoped she didn't interpret what he had said as him being arrogant about his breed.... for Amitiel, such things were trivial.... in the grander scheme of things any breed could shine, some just needed the opportunity to present itself.

Caoimhe let out a soft sigh at his question. Did she like it here? She didn't really know yet. This was only her first week, so she couldn't really form an opinion that quickly. She thought of her beloved sister and closed her eyes for a moment to gather her thoughts. Hesitantly she began to respond, "Honestly I'm...not really sure how I feel about it. It's quite pretty and somewhat different from where I'm from. I guess it's because I haven't been here for very long. It's only been a week since I lost my way. I was going to visit my sister and got knocked off course by a very strong gust of wind."
She ruffled her wings, stretching them briefly before letting them settle once again against her back. So his name was Amitiel and he was an angeni. She wondered briefly if they had domains here like they did in her homeland. She wouldn't press him though. It wasn't her way, if he wanted to tell her he would, eventually. Smiling warmly at him her introductory reply was, "A pleasure to meet you Amitiel. My name is Caoimhe and as you can see, I'm a crossbreed." She chuckled softly at that part. She probably seemed rather silly, but for some reason she wanted to show that she had a sense of humor. Noticing the warmth in the air, her smile grew. It was almost time!

Deciding to drop the subject about her feelings towards her new home Amitiel turned his attention to the sunset once more, already the start leak of colour was starting to drift and pierce the otherwise plain and dull sky.
He couldn't help a chuckle escape his lips as she commented that she was a cross breed, so far she had spoke nothing but truth and had even used the word 'honestly' again, his interest was definatly on the creature sat beside him. "It is a please to meet you also Caoimhe! Crossbreed." He turned to glance at her for a moment before once again returning it to the sky that was starting to turn pink with the arrival of the early morning sun. Her humor was amusing, but Amitiel was more pleased that she had not taken his own introduction as arrogance....
"I believe the show has started." There was a smile on Amitels lips that had not been present for years, a smile of pure joy and happiness.

Caoimhe watched as the slowly rising sun painted the sky with hues of orange, pink and purple. It was beautiful and this was one of her favorite times of day. Peaceful, cool, and quiet it was perfect for thinking or for observation. Should she look at her companion and take the opportunity for silent observation? Would that be terribly rude of her or would he be alright with it?
She struggled against the urge to covertly observe the handsome stallion next to her. She didn't want to appear rude or tactless. Sighing softly, she fidgeted a little before stilling herself. She would settle for looking out of the corner of her eye. He was a handsome example of a stallion. The growing light of the sun highlighted his strong back and kind face. Caoimhe felt a little weak and so tore her gaze from her companion. She blushed lightly at the sudden feeling growing in her chest and hoped he would believe it was the coming sun painting her cheeks.

Amitiel had been concentrating so hard on the sunrise that indicated a new day, a new start and another day of duty that he barely noticed the figgiting mare for a moment. As the sun rose to a point where the purples and pink started to fade he turned to face his companion to find a light pink colouring to her normally white pelt, he had heard once that those of such light complextion overheaded and burnt easily. Instantly concerned he asked, "Are you too hot? Burnt? I am sorry... I should have taken better care of you." He wore his concern in his eyes as he watched her.

Caoimhe had distracted herself from her companion by gazing intently at the sunrise. His voice broke through her thoughts despite her best effort to focus on the scene before her. Blinking a few times, she turned to Amitiel with a "Hmmmm?" Oh! He was worried because of her blush.
Shaking her head, she smiled gently at her companion, "No, I'm not hot and I'm not burnt. I'm fine, honest." She looked up into his eyes, "I'm sorry if I worried you." The mare nudged him gently with her shoulder and said, "You're doing a fine job Amitiel. I feel relaxed and peaceful here with you." Ugh, her mouth had gotten away from her! Caoimhe blushed again, a little darker this time and dropped her gaze quickly, hoping he'd miss it....though that didn't seem likely.

Amitiel had to hold back a laugh the look of shock on her face, it seemed she had allowed herself to become consumed by the sunrise also... yes, he was sometimes wholy comsumed by the beauty of nature around him. Smiling he said, "Beautiful isn't it!" He risked a glance at the beautiful sunrise, contemplating how nature had managed to create something so delicate and wonderful.
Turning back to her he listened to her words, no lies that he scented. Interesting.
"I am glad you are satisfied then," he said with a smile, and then watched her cheeks burn pinker again.
If it wasn't a burn, then maybe it was a blush? He had only ever witnessed one before, and it had been when they had been caught in a huge lie. He hadn't scented a lie.... so, why was she blushing? Curious and unable to stop himself he asked; "Why are you blushing?" Surely no one was such a good liar that he was unable to tell? He had met brillant liars, some that he was sure if he wasn't able to tell he would never have guessed had been lying.
Once he had heard rumors... whispers more like, or those who where outside of the realm of Angeni abilities, was this mare one of them?

The white mare sighed inwardly. Now what did she do? For some reason she didn't want to lie to him. She couldn't figure out why that was, but at the moment there were other things to worry about. Caoimhe looked up into Amitiel's eyes again and replied in a soft voice, "I'm blushing because what I said sounded rather romantic."
There, it was out. She wondered if he would be upset. Would he laugh at her or would he be kind? Her thoughts whirled around inside her brain as she waited for how he would react to that. She hoped things would be alright between them.

Amitiel had very little experience of romance, the one time he attempted it the mare had laughed and thrown the sentiment back in his face with spite and malice. No, he was not good at detecting it either it seemed. He smiled sweetly to her and then said sincerly, "You need not blush for such things," he moved closer, moving on instinct and kissed her cheek where the hot blush burnt. He moved back again with a smile and very little understanding about how his actions could be seen he said; "Blushing usually means embarrassment correct? Well, you do not need to embarrassed with me!"
Amitiel had spoken 'matter-o-factly', easy words for someone who didn't really have much experience with the opposite sex. Perhaps it would have been easier if she simply had attempted to lie to him. But still he had not scent one lie, she had even admitted to something that obviously shamed her -why else blush?
Curious, as Amitiel usually was, he couldn't resist asking, "Caoimhe, why have you not lied to me?" Yes, it would likely give his ability away but part of wanted... no, needed to know.
He sat for a moment, turning his attention between the sunrise and the mare beside him trying to figure out which was more beautiful, they where both gifts of nature was the only conclusion he could come to. Which, given the fact that Amitiel was compelled to watch the sun rise and set every opportunity he had, saying she was also a gift of nature meant a lot. Curious once more he finally brought himself to ask the one question that was wriggling and niggling at the back of his mind; "Does it bother you so, that your actions could be considered romantic towards me?" Was he not worth the effort? He didn't know...

Well he certainly wasn't a shy one! Unfortunately, she was now frozen in shock and amazement. All she could say was "Uh," repeatedly as her blush darkened. She wasn't embarrassed any more, just....in shock.
Caoimhe came back to herself slowly when he asked why she hadn't lied to him. She truly couldn't think of any other reason aside from, "I like you and I always try my best to be honest with those I like."
She shook her head in response to his next question, "No no! Not at all. I was more afraid it would bother you. I mean, we did just meet and we barely know each other."
