We're half way to home and time for my official mid season rankings! I thought about doing this last week but wanted to wait till every team had at least 8 games under their belts. So here is how I rank them.
Top 12 1. Baltimore Ravens: If I would have done this ranking 1 week ago, it would have been the Patriots sitting on top.
2. New York Giants: 5 game winning streak has me believing they are the top team in the NFC, but playing against weaker NFC opponents for the most part keeps them in second till they have proven themselves against a good, tough opponent.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers: Arguably the best, but Roethlisberger's return didn't make them the unstoppable force many thought they could have been.
4. New England Patriots: Was Sundays loss to the Cleveland Browns just an off day for the Patriots? I couldn't justify placing them at #1 after loosing that bad to a team with a loosing record.
5. New York Jets: Being blanked by the Packers, then struggling to win in overtime against the Detroit Lions shows that this team still has some issues it needs to address before the playoffs.
6. Atlanta Falcons: Guess no one from the Falcons organization got that memo from the Bucs head coach Raheem Morris that they were suppose to be the best team in the NFC.
7. Philadelphia Eagles: Back to Vick as the starting QB, and the Eagles looking to challenge the Giants for #1 in the NFC East.
8. New Orleans Saints: Perhaps loosing to the Browns was the wake up call the defending Superbowl champions needed to wake up and play the way they did a year ago.
9. Green Bay Packers: Am I the only one who was more impressed with the Packers 9-0 victory over the Jets than their 45-7 romp of the Dallas Cowboys?
10. Tennessee Titans: Can Randy Moss be the missing piece the Titans need to overthrow Indianapolis and win the AFC South?
11. Indianapolis Colts: Injuries are taking their toll, and Sundays loss to the Eagles have shown just how vulnerable this Colts team is right now.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Don't feel too bad Buccaneers, you were a 4th and 1 from the Falcons 2 away from making it into the top 10. And still one of the better teams in the NFC.
Muddled Middle 13. Oakland Raiders: Since their loss to the 49ers, the Raiders have won 3 straight, outscoring their opponents 115 - 37 in that span, could this be the most dangerous team going into the second half of the season?
14. Kansas City Chiefs: Still in first of the AFC West, but that lead is hanging by a thread.
15. Miami Dolphins: On the bright side, all of the Dolphins losses have been to teams ranking in my top 5, and they should have won against the Steelers if weren't for a poor call.
16. San Diego Chargers: Off to a slow start but now bringing the heat, and Phillip Rivers has quietly had a great year, closing in on Dan Marino's record for most passing yards in a season.
17. Cleveland Browns: Since Colt McCoy took over, the Browns are 2-1 with huge wins over the defending Superbowl Champions, and a Patriots team which had the best record in the league. Two very impressive wins for a rookie.
18. Washington Redskins: I don't think McNabb was brought into Washington just to be benched during 2 minute drills.
19. Chicago Bears: I don't know if the Bears have figured this out, but it's no secret to the rest of the league how to stop the Mike Martz offense.
20. St. Louis Rams: Can start to distance themselves from the rest of the NFC West with a big win over division Rival San Francisco on Sunday.
21. Houston Texans: Started off great, but have sunk back to their inconcistant .500 style the way they usually have been.
22. Minnesota Vikings: Brett Favre's come from behind win has saved the Vikings season... for one more week at least.
Bottom of the Barrel 23. Jacksonville Jaguars: Managed to be .500 this far, but how much of it was luck? Or teams they beat being unlucky?
24. Detroit Lions: Looked promising with a healthy Stafford, but with him sidelined for possibly the rest of the season could ruin any hope the Lions had of a respectable record.
25. Arizona Cardinals: We knew that with their QB core this was going to be a long season for the Cardinals. After Sunday's loss to the Vikings how much will the Cardinal fans be excited to hear who their new QB will be once the season is over?
26. Seattle Seahawks: How will the Seahawks rebound and pick up the pieces after being thrashed by the Giants?
27. Cincinnati Bengals: A valiant effort in a near come from behind victory Monday night against division rival Pittsburgh, but this team is facing a massive overhaul come the end of the season.
28. San Francisco 49ers: Glass is half empty- they are 2-6 and last place in the worst division in the league. Glass is half full- they've won two of their last three and still have a shot to win their division.
29. Denver Broncos: First a thrashing by the Raiders, then blowing a 4th quarter lead in London to the 49ers, how much is this team looking forward to the off season?
30. Buffalo Bills: They may be 0-8, but in the last three weeks they have taken the Ravens and Chiefs to the limit, and played a good game against the Bears in a loosing effort, this team is playing with too much heart to be ranked last in my opinion.
31. Carolina Panthers: With exception to their games against Seattle and Arizona later this season, I don't know if this team can win any more games.
32. Dallas Cowboys: Rather be the 0-8 Bills playing with heart than have a win under my belt and have given up on the season like the Cowboys, the faces of the players Sunday night against the Packers really says it all for this team.
[Edit] When I posted this I originally had the Jacksonville Jaguars at 25, but after thinking about it, even if I'm not convinced that they are as good as their 4-4 record indicates, that it was unjustifiable to place them behind Arizona and Detroit, so I moved them to 23rd and top of the bottom of the barrel list, moving Detroit down to 24th and Arizona to 25th.

Of course I place the Ravens at #1 and tonight they loose to the Falcons, I'm about as bad at naming #1's and watching them fall as the BCS rankings.

Take a look at #32 Dallas cowboys, I thought I heard something, it's the Superbowl slipping.
There is one Number I don't agree with that would be the Vikings at #22. Brett just saved his coach the job.

Brett just saved his coach the job. In my rough draft before posting I initially had them placed at #20 ahead of the Rams and Texans, but overall St. Louis and Houston are having the better seasons, and even though Brett, for the moment saved his coaches job, it was against a very poor Arizona team, Good enough to put them in the muddled middle, but have a lot more to prove to be ranked higher next time.

Not really too because the big question about the Vikings is Jared Allen Mullet. With Mullet a better team without Mullet the team does bad. Well you should have put them lower than the Jags.
