Okay i see a mazda rx7 on craigslist for 7k, it has like 89k mileage and has some body damage. the seller claims it drives well and it's mostly stock. Personally I'd change the body kit anyway, this is just giving me a reason to do it now, but in order to buy it, I'd have to test drive it. I KNOW you guys told me to wait for the rx7 but shyt 7k?!?! I don't want that to slip me even if it has body damage, those stock externals were going anyway. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2049145965.html

If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. In this case you may spend in excess of a good RX7 just fixing the damned thing. Or, you may not. It is impossible to tell if the car cannot be put on a hoist and thoroughly inspected.
Which is what you should have done anyway to avoid being ripped off.

usually when my dad test drives something, he brings it all the way home. I figure if he has the time to do that I can probably do that as well.
I just need to know what to look for, though I do know if somethings seems too good to be true it most likely is, but my dad's friend got a perfectly good corvette z06 for 10k just because the guy needed quick money. (low mileage as well)
I see the situation is a lot different since the corvette was in great condition, but heck if a simple observation of the car can answer this, I am curious as to what to look for so I make a good decision.

Hmmm....7k. Either there is some BS going on or he just wants to get rid of it. Thats a tough decision, its like a catch 22 right there.
If you buy it and there are too many problems with the internals and it costs you more than what you paid for, you got screwed over. But if you don't buy it and it actually isn't really all that bad, you missed a good deal.
You are going to have to gamble on this one I'm afraid, but if you find an RX-7 that costs a bit more and is in really good condition, I'd go for that one.

I'm curious as to how a light cover fell off.

This>>>>>>>>that, in my opinion. Not only is it $2,000 less but it's also older and much more collectible than the third-gen RX-7 would be. Plus, it seems to come with tons of parts.

[/img] I'll admit it isn't the best looking of the RX-7s, but it is the first-gen. I'd imagine that since it was produced during the very first year of actual production that it'd have to have some worth, if not today then in the years to come.

Do you have a picture of it or have you seen it IRL... Some body damage is kind vague.
Edit- Lol... failed to see link
Yeah... it looks like you might end up investing a lot just for the body work.

last time i went to buy an RX7 it was a first gen.
it'd also been taken over some sweet jumps, as evidenced by the strut towers being three inches closer to the hood than stock, and only on one side.
that, and the owner kept firing it up and shutting it down without letting it warm up.
needless to say, i didn't go home with it.

Hmmm, beginner driver determined to get himself in over his head for some godforsaken reason buying a car that he can so totally find for that price when he actually is ready for it but right now is nothing more than a deathtrap at his level... Yeahhhh, that's what your future looks like at this rate. Seriously, Tsuki SLOW DOWNNNNPatience is a virtue, and you're gonna put yourself in a bad situation if you don't try to find some and stop rushing at every opportunity to get ahead of yourself.

I do agree with Ivan, I had to roll with my mustang for a very long time, SO eager to sell and buy something else, but I had to find what I wanted, and I waited 5 months and sold my stang and got my wagon. So ya, test this car out, take it to a mechanic or two and make sure there is not 1 leak. if everything checks out, hell go buy it and buy a new headlight cover HAHA

iandrew: yeah, I'll try that, if you were a seller would you mind having your car taken to be checked by associates of the potential buyer? (I don't know if i should be straight forward with the guy since i might be missing for awhile with the car)
Chronos: yeah i am wondering about that too, but I was like ******** it since I don't even like those lights anyway.
Ethereal: That image some how made me think the car was uglier than I did from the start... probably a safer buy, but I really don't like that car.
Atlas: Body work I can get done cheap since my dad's best friend does work for cheap, but I intended to replace all the externals anyway and as long as it drives well I could care less as long as you can still tell its a rx7 xd
Ivan: nooooooooo why ya breaking my stride man DX now I'm gonna feel even more paranoid lol Now I am gonna ask your permission to buy the car and put stuff on it, since you think I'm gonna crash.
Heart of sugar: That I will and hopefully it turns out well (not even gonna buy a cap, I'll replace the lights).

...... I say buy it In terms of resale, FD's are amazing, take a thorough look at it, if the body can be nicely fixed, even if it runs like s**t, as long as it runs, you can flip the thing for 10k easy
Edit:
P.S. if you dun buy it, I'm close enough to Jersey, that I probably will

Hey if you buy it, can I drive it once? xd (desperate to at least touch the car)
