Now that Periwinkle was by his side the mole boy had been informed he was expected to take a whole raft of new classes. What's more had has to stop off at D-corp to pick up the specific books and information to accompany them. Looking at the high stacks and thick volumes that he would have to read Taren was not looking forward to the experience.
He shifted the heavy back over his shoulder and felt a small reassuring bump against his leg. He looked down and smiled at the black and purple head that rose up beside him. Periwinkle was barley out of her shell and had already settled on her job, which was his body guard. And althrough he was pleased they had bonded quickly he wished she wouldn't insist on body checking everyone that got with in five feet of him.
One of the techs he had spoken to suggested she was picking up on his anxcities and reacting to them in her own way. It was a good an explanation as any, still he wished she wouldn't.
He tried to reassure her he was fine but he couldn't hide the quickening of his heartbeat and the shortening of breath that came over him being out in the open like this and away from home. Even in a hallway that seemed deserted.

"C'mon Kal... You heard what P'las said. You're still too fat and so it's more laps around the building. And more swimming tonight!"
Around the corner came a blue frog boy, half turned to argue with the rather fat green dragon sulking behind him. She was not a fan of this new exercise regimen and was not ashamed to show it. Something was muttered in Draconic and Nibal seemed to soften a bit.
"Hey... the swimming builds your wing muscles, so that means more flying when we do get to. And I'll get you a treat if you do at least five laps around the building before it's time to go."
This seemed to cheer the green up a bit, as she knew she'd be able to convince the frog boy to give her more treats than she should get. Perking up a bit, she raised her head and suddenly grabbed the back of Nibal's shirt in her mouth, causing the frog boy to come to a sudden halt.
"Kal! What was that..." He turned as Kal continued to stare past him, spotting the mole boy and the dragon just ahead of him. If he'd continued on, he probably would've run into them! "Oh." He gave the green a pat on the head as he addressed Taren.
"Sorry, I should watch where I'm going..." He glanced at the dragon, grinning a bit. "That's a lindworm, right?"

Taren knew the pair were coming before they appeared, not only picking them up through hearing but the vibrations they made as they walked. Another small skill that he had picked up from his animal DNA, especially useful when digging around in the dark.
Although the skill was not nearly as effective above ground so before he could turn around, and execute an escape the pair appeared round the corner. Taren froze, eyes flickering around for somehow to avoid the encounter, he was not good with others around his own age. However they were in a long straight corridor with no obvious turnings. He was still looking when Nibal addressed him. Taren squeaked in surprise and promptly dropped several books on his foot. Ow.
"Ugh...sorry...I guess.yea, she's just recently Hatched...PERI STOP!" the mole boys voice suddenly rose as said lindworm that had been crouching beside the mole boy eyeing the pair suddenly darted forward. Pausing right infront of Nibal she pushed herself up on the thick coils of her body tilll she was on level with his height, placing her claws on his shoulders she pushed her head close till she was almost touching him and snorted, Nostrils flaring to take in his scent, inspecting him critically as Taren groaned. "I'm sorry...please don't be scared. She just wants to make sure your not a threat." the boy explained sheepishly.
After a moment Periwinkle seemed satisfied (althrough she left with a warning hiss) at least she backed off and dropped back to the floor, slicking back to coil around Taren's feet. Kal was completely ignored it seemed. Maybe the dragon thought that Kal wouldn't act without Nibal or just didn't hold dragons on the same threat level. Either way, her eyes remained focused on the frog boy.

Nibal looked guilty for making the poor boy startle like that, but before he could offer to help pick up the books, the lindworm was pretty much right in his face! Kalseru hissed a warning to the smaller dragon that seemed to be ignored as the lindworm continued to scent the frog boy.
Nibal was glad that he was wearing a shirt that covered his shoulders, but he just hoped that the other dragon wouldn't lick him. Kal was immune to his toxins, but he was rather sure this dragon wouldn't be. And, since she'd just hatched, it wouldn't be good to make her sick so soon!
He was relieved when the lindworm retreated back to her boy, giving a sigh that nothing bad had happened. Well, other than Kal continuing to hiss. He reached back to rub her head. "It's okay, Kal..."
Turning his attention back to the mole boy, Nibal grinned. "They like to protect us," he agreed, chuckling. "Kal seems to be like a really large dog sometimes."
The green snorted, obviously not thrilled with this analogy. Not that she could really deny it... but it didn't mean she liked it.

Taren gave a small nod, looking relived that the frog boy didn't take it against him. As Kal hissed and huffed Periwinkle simple gave her a bored look, she might as well of yawned to show her disinterest in the threat. Not that she would let the much larger green to near her boy without a fight but the young dragon had already figured out instinct and racial memory served her well when dealing with out dragons. In other words she knew what to expect. Humans were much more serious threat and tended to agitate Taren much more. The hybrid children were even less predictable.
"Budge over Wink." Taren muttered as he leaned down to retrieve his fallen books, nudging aside part of his dragons curled tail to reach the last one.
Taren soon righted himself but still seemed unsure and making a visual effort not to make eye contact with Nibal, even if he did try a slightly forced smile at the quip. "I guess so, but I sometimes wish periwinkle was more like a dog, a dog might actually listen to me occasionally. " He voice casting a look down at the Lindworm who turned her head away to show just how little she cared about this. In her own mind she did her self assigned job just fine, that was protecting Taren.
