It looks like the healthiest way to eat, and I've been thinking about trying this diet for some time now. I believe it's a great idea, however, because of my current lifestyle and lack of money I think it will be extremely difficult even just to try for a while. Has anyone else ever heard of, considered, or tried this diet? What is your opinion of this "way of life"?

The only person I've ever heard of being a raw-food vegan is Bif Naked. She swears by it. THIS is a good article talking about raw food (and Bif! heart ) Personally, I know humans are designed to be ominivorous so I wont be going vegetarian any time ever. However, I know that, in general, here in the West we do eat too much meat, so cutting back is probably a good thing.
One thing is guaranteed though; going raw-food only WILL make you lose weight, and fast, but probably not in a safe way.

Aw, Bif Naked! I remember her!
And re: raw food, I'm not sure it is inherently healthier - I mean, plenty of things will kill the a** off you if you don't cook them first - but probably the kinds of things you have to restrict yourself to are more likely to be healthy.
I am never going to become a raw foodist because I don't subscribe to any diets you have to buy specialized equipment for.

Thank you for the article!! smile hm... perhaps I will just have raw food meals as an option. Not something to do all the time, but in moderation. I am not getting anywhere near the amount of vitamins & minerals I should be getting, I was hoping that switching to only raw food would be the solution, but then I am sure that I will need to eat SOME meat some of the time. I would very much like to lose some weight but I wouldn't want to lose vast amounts of weight in short periods of time. The goal is to be healthy not to be skinny. It seems that I will have to put a lot more thought into creating a personalized diet.

i think as a rule, dairy and fruit and veggies are better raw, however i think that grains and meat are probably better for you cooked. some foods have nutrients that are activated when you cook them, others loose nutrients. it comes down to researching each food to decide how its better for you.
