Yu stared up at the cliffs, swallowing a bit. The large dark lion hesitated just a moment, before looking back. Behind him stood Haki, who would fight is OWN way in, and Susu, his dear little half-sister, who would come in with him. Or so she'd said. The seer said strange things sometimes. He let out a huff, before turning back to the cliffs. His lungs filled, his lips curled back, and as his jaw opened wide, a deep and fierce roar ripped forth and echoed over the roar of the sea.

Gunnar hadn't had a decent challenge in ages. Duels against his fellow Stormborn were good fun and kept him in fighting condition, but they were nowhere near as good as a real duel. When he heard the roar of challenge the blond lion's ears pricked and a ferocious grin of delight spread across his face.
He had been idly patrolling near the base of the cliffs, and now he came running towards the roar. Seeing the strange lions, Gunnar let out a roar of his own. Three on one, eh? Surely they knew they wouldn't gain admittance with such cowardly tactics ... but Gunnar felt he was a match for any three foreigners if they did decide to jump him at once. He laughed, shouting towards the lion that seemed to be in the lead. "Are you here to challenge me, honorably? Let's fight, then!" He waited for the strange lion to make his first move, grinning his toothy grin.

"If you refer to the fact there are three of us, only two of us fight, and not both of us against you! I fight you for myself and my sister!" His mother, what little he'd remembered of her, had taught him not to gang up on others. It was wrong, and unfair. He shifted into a battle-ready stance, before charging.
The feel of the beach under his paws as he ran was odd compared to savanna dirt and grass under his paws. It wasn't something he couldn't get used to, though, and he was willing to. As the caramel-maned lion leaped at his opponent, he felt his paw just barely brush the other lion's side, enough to maybe scratch an itch.

Good, good. So the outsider would fight honorably. Gunnar wasn't surprised at all that this lion would challenge on behalf of his sister. In Gunnar's experience females didn't generally want to fight their way in ... at least, he had fought few of them. He braced himself, preparing for the lion's onslaught.
Waiting for the charge, it was easy enough to twist out of the way enough to avoid a true blow. The other lion's raking paw did little damage. Gunnar laughed. "Is that all you've got? You'll have to do better than that!" The blond-maned reaver was amused, delighted by the chance to fight. He struck back at the other lion before the stranger had a chance to recover from his charge. It was hardly the crushing blow he had intended, but hopefully it would at least keep his opponent off-balance.

And off-balance he was! When Yu recovered, his lip curled back in a growl. He wasn't going to play nice, just because his sister was here watching. Hunkering back, he leaped forward, claws bared as he slammed a paw into the other male's side. The feeling of the claws sinking was a welcome sensation, though it did throw him off balance again. When he landed on the ground, he tumbled a bit, struggling to pull himself up before he could be pounced on.

While Gunnar hadn't been able to get in a good solid hit to the other lion, his opponent's next strike was truly staggering. The reaver snarled at the pain, lurching aside from the force of the blow. He didn't think any ribs were broken, but ah!
The blond lion felt himself developing a smidgen of respect for this challenger. Gunnar wouldn't go easy on him - no reaver would ever allow himself to be beaten! - but he was pleased to have a worthy challenger. This battle was going to be satisfying, unlike his duels with that cringeworthy female.
Gunnar was still out of breath, but he leapt for his opponent anyways, claws and teeth bared. Hopefully he would be able to deal some pain before the other gained his feet.

Yu was expecting the hit, he just wasn't expecting it to be so HARD. Digging his paws a bit into the ground, he bore the brunt of the blow, eyes narrowed. There was pain, that was for sure. At the least, he'd bruise on the flesh. At the worst... He shifted. A bruise to the bone. His next move was fast, as his paw shot around to hit the other male. It felt like it had been a few minutes since the other had laid the blow, but it hadn't even been a FULL minute. Not that lions could really tell time beyond 'sun up', 'noon' and 'sun down'...

Gunnar knew his hit had been solid, but his opponent bore it well. The strange male reacted quickly, just as quickly as Gunnar himself did after a blow. That was good. Well ... not so good for Gunnar, maybe, as the lion's paw hit him hard, painfully hard. Claws raked into the flesh of his shoulder, tearing open wounds that would burn for days. Gunnar ground his teeth, fighting back a startled roar of pain.
With his shoulder bruised and torn, Gunnar's return attack was not as savage as it might have been, but he put his all into it. The reaver lunged for his opponent, claws raking, teeth snapping, seeking to get a hold on him wherever he could. His strength was beginning to flag - as was the stranger's, surely. If he was to win, he had to end this quickly.

Indeed, Yu was weakening. He didn't let that show, though, as he bore the attack, barely letting out a grunt. He had massive size on his side, something he was thankful for, as it made this easier. There were lions that didn't take it as easily, but he did well enough. Mustering his strength back up, he charged at Gunnar, though his pace wasn't as fast as it had been earlier.

A solid hit, one Gunnar would feel for days. The blond reaver was a good-sized lion, but not as large as his opponent, and he staggered a bit at the force of the blow. Moving as quickly as he could, Gunnar was able to disengage before the other lion could take him down and finish the fight. He was a Stormborn, and although he was definitely starting to weaken, Gunnar didn't intend to let this damnable outsider beat him.
His speed and strength were flagging, but Gunnar still managed to launch one last strong attack, battering at the other lion with his heavy paws, snarling his anger. He didn't have the energy to waste on a good roar. The brown lion knew that although he was not yet spent enough to quit, this would likely be the last good attack he would be able to muster. Hopefully it would do some damage.

Yu let out a roar of pain, staggering away from the blow. As he tried to catch his breath, he charged at the other, though it lacked the same fire as before. When he felt his paw brush the other lion's side, it felt to him more as if he was scratching an itch for the other.
He looked back, sides heaving. "I think... This is the end... Of our fight..." He stood as tall as he could, given his injuries, squaring his jaw a bit. "You put up a good fight..." But had he put up a good enough fight?

Gunnar's aim had been true, but he was pretty well spent. He tried to return the other lion's final (weak) blow, but he might as well have been a cub batting at the air. Breathing hard, the blond lion drew himself up and looked the other in the eye. The stranger spoke true, it was without a doubt the end of their fight. Neither had won a decisive victory, but Gunnar was very impressed with the other lion even so.
"You fight like a kitten," Gunnar said, scoffing even though he himself was exhausted. He grinned, adding "Brother." The matter was settled in Gunnar's mind. He nodded over his shoulder, looking back at the stronghold. "Come. Let's have the healers pamper us and bring us food while we tell the others about our battle."
