It started with a text.

For a few weeks Sorrin had nagged Elzo endlessly to let him meet the legendary Audrey, for weeks Elzo had said no. It wasn't till the night of Audrey's birthday that Elzo finally started to clue him in. As such Sorrin spent a good portion of his evening spreading the petals and shooing people away from the path. When the time came, nothing happened. Sorrin got no text, he got no phone call, he was almost sure he never saw Elzo take the path. Ultimately he wandered off after no one gave him a hint what had happened, it wasn't till the next day that the news reached Sorrin.

Audrey had bailed out on Elzo, and Elzo couldn't explain why. So as a result Sorrin was now the shoulder on which Elzo cried or rather panicked to near death over the whole situation. Even in that situation it took Sorrin another few days to get a full name, and address something to work with. Elzo didn't ask for it, and Audrey probably only knew the faintest details about himself, but if what Elzo had been saying was true then something could be done to fix it. Even if Elzo was too upset to deal with it, Sorrin wasn't.

So once again Sorrin was waiting, his bike propped up with himself leaning against a tree outside of Audrey's house. Maybe, just maybe he could set something right.

The Victoria Collins Break-Up Plan was of so many steps that Audrey couldn't keep them all entirely straight in her mind. One step was apparently dressing like a total hooker so that the guy was all hot and bothered for you, something that she couldn't at all do. However, the skinny jeans and heels from the Killingworth wedding were making an appearance, though that was beneath a rather unfortunate plum-colored sweater. After all, it was cold out. The spa and salon had been the other one, and this was where the bluenette had given in.

Audrey Collins was now a blonde.

So when the sunny-haired girl stood in front of the young man standing on her doorstep, it might have been a bit of a throwoff. Maybe not, she didn't look all that different. Audrey still had her keys out, ready to maim the person in her yard. "Are you lost? I can't let you in to use the phone, but you can borrow my cell to call someone and get directions." The tone wasn't precisely pleasant.

Boys were the last thing she wanted. Vicky said it was the one thing she needed. Ugh.

It took a moment for Sorrin to realize Audrey was indeed the girl before him. Hadn't she had striking blue hair in the pictures Elzo had shown? Everything else matched up though.

Except those heals with the sweater, that just didn't do it at all.

"Audrey Collins right?"

He paused waiting for her to respond, right now was the hardest part. What did he do next? 'Hi I'm your most recent ex's best friend' 'Hi I swear I'm not a creeper/stalker.' Not to mention she already sounded pissed off.

Well the last part was fairly explainable: Elzo.

That had a slim, also freshly dyed eyebrow raising in an expression that was not at all easing up on the poor guy trying to do a good deed by sitting in her front yard for his bro. Alright, so he had no idea who she was in a dual sense of the word, Audrey wasn't really worried about Elzo taking on some sort of Italian Mob hit on her. Maybe Marlo might have, but that wasn't too much of a worry.

Two seconds and the boy'd be dead.

Instead, the bag on her shoulder was shifted. "Yep, that's me. Are you delivering something?" There wasn't a package, and her stance was defensive. Who was this dude?

Sorrin, while Italian was not actually a hitman at all, far from it! Just another shmuck boy calling for the lovely lady. Though he did look a bit older then the most who stopped by her place.

"Nope, not delivering, just a friend of a friend you could say? I was wondering if you might not be to busy today, we could maybe go somewhere and talk?" He shifted off the tree shrugging his shoulders, "I've actually heard a lot about you, but I never got a chance to meet you."

Sadly he glanced at his bike, "Preferably the closer the better, folks won't give me the car yet."

A friend of a friend, hm? But not naming which one? That was interesting and more than enough to make up for the point she was irritated. Besides, it would placate Rosie if she were told that Audrey were talking to a boy. Elzo might even drive by, and then he might be jealous! Though why she wanted him jealous was a mystery. It wasn't like she was going to take him back! Ever!

Jerking a finger towards the porch and the swing, Audrey smiled a bit. "I have a swing that fits more than one person if you don't want to have to haul me behind you. I'm rather light, but that's a little...junior high, isn't it? Then maybe you can tell me which of my friends you know. There aren't that many that I'll probably even narrow it down before where we get where we're going." The grin sharpened and her wicked sense of humor emerged.

"Then I might steal your bike. Safer to hang here." For both of them!

If Elzo actually drove by he would probably swing between accusing Sorrin of stealing Audrey away, or possibly just leap straight toward Audrey and beg to be taken back; neither seemed good.

"Well I never mind a good junior high cliche, always good for a laugh, but seriously, I road all the way out here honestly I'm kind of tired." Slowly he made his way from the tree hands stuffed casually into his hoodies pockets. "Not many huh? Before we reach the swing my, a short list indeed." Taking a seat on the swing he made a shocked face.

"My bike!? You would make me walk home in this weather? Woe is me should I get on your bad side." He leaned back in the swing slowly pushing it back glancing over at Audrey, for a moment his face looked to be deep in thought as if trying to decide what to say next. "So... which friend do you think we share then?"

Shoes were kicked off next to the front door as Audrey crossed her legs to sit across from the guy on her doorstep. "Fear my bad side, because this is my good one. Imagine what the bad one looks like! It's horrific!" Brushing fingers through her hair to look almost bemusedly at the color before talking again. "On the short list? You don't look like Jada or Fallon's type, and Pasha would never resist the chance to come over and see me. Vicky doesn't let boys out of her grip." Eyes looked him up and down, assessing what she could gather from the boy. "Zac doesn't talk to anyone. So you're probably here from one of my other Hillworth friends." There were not a whole lot of them these days, she hadn't really had a need to go there since Drew had gotten distant and Ursula was gone.

"Spill it. Which one?" The new adult propped a foot up on the swing and put her chin on her knee. It wasn't a very adult-like pose, but Audrey had never cared much about how she appeared. Especially not in front of a boy!

"The wrath of a women scorned they say is the worst of all when it comes to wrath in general." He shifted slightly watching her as she took a seat with him, waiting to hear just how short the list was, and well, it was rather abrupt at that matter. "Owch, you really weren't kidding now? Yup, I'm friends with a Hillworth boy, one you know rather well." He paused for a moment and sighed, "Ah to hell with it. I'm a friend of Elzo's, he told me- no he hasn't stopped telling me about you since I've gotten back."

What ever chipper appearance Sorrin had when he arrived it was now replaced with the look of a youth who was stuck in a situation he didn't much desire being in, still, you never let a bro down."According you him, you got upset, stormed off, and refuse to talk to him. End result he's been a complete wreck since then. I mean a real wreck. Whatever happened, he won't say... but he's not taking it well."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 08, 2010 12:56 am

Eyes that had been warming up just a bit with having someone to talk to had gone hard and flat as the tundra, as well as cold as the ice that inhabited it. Of course she had generally arrived at that conclusion on her own, but was rather hoping he said he was a friend of Janice Fitzpatrick and wanted to regale her with stories of their copulating. That would have been preferable for having to hear about how Elzo 'wasn't taking it well'. A bare heel slapped against the porch as Audrey sat up straight and proud.

"What isn't he taking well, exactly? Not getting laid after all that investment? I told him he should call one of his giant breasted bimbos for a little bit of enjoyment, since he all but started the process in the middle of my birthday dinner. Did he tell you what he got me for my birthday? Oh he was gonna give me some nice c**k, isn't that wonderful?" It wasn't that he hasn't gotten her a real present, that wasn't the point. The point was that was his idea of a present!

"Like he didn't lie to me about the sexy girl texting him and asking if he was with me? Why did she need to know, she doesn't know me!" Arms were gesturing wildly now, her voice raising and becoming more and more intense as she crescendoed towards the finish. "Oh and by the way, maybe you didn't get that I saw him snuggling up to that bimbo Barbie waitress on Halloween. Her and her exposed fat a**! So yeah, he lied, he was a total douchebag, and I punched him when he wouldn't leave me alone. Sorry if that's a problem, but I'm not a notch on some hotshot's bedpost." The tragedy of it is that she was. She really was, and hated herself every moment of every day for it.

It was why she couldn't be with Elzo, even if it was all totally innocent. Audrey was convinced it wasn't.

Sorrin had a name for this; Elz-plosion. You see when a girl deals with Elzo long enough Sorrin found that mentioning his name later on could have many, many, maaaaany unwanted side effects.

Such as having a sharp, witty, and cute blond turn into the ice queen.

"What he isn't taking well is that the one person he honest to God loved walked out on him on her birthday and he's not even sure what he did wrong, and for the record he hasn't done anything with anyone since you two, all he does is talk about you unless he's pointing out how I'm single it's alwys about you I haven't seen him talk about one girl like this ever."

He was going to give her what? While it sounded like the Elzo he would have known back at camp, this wasn't at all what the plans he had been a part of lead to. "From what I heard he didn't give you any present because you bailed out of the car before you even got to the picnic area!"

The next part however threw him slightly for a loop, sexy girl? He couldn't write that one off unless... "Who was he texting? Have you seen his phone, half the names in it are turned into some sort of joke, he has me listed as Bromance for cripes sake. And no I didn't know about this barbie on Halloween, look, just, you know what? Sit down. No don't give me that look. Sit!"

Standing up Sorrin fished out his phone sliding it open before clicking to a picture, it was the very park path he had been set to guard. "Do you see that? That's where he was taking you, I spent that whole night freezing waiting to hear from him that his big surprise was a success after making sure no one even so much as touched a rose petal."

Click.

"Do you see this? That picnic blanket and the iced soda? He set that up for you, and you didn't even see it because you just stormed out on him and sucker punched him on the side of the road." The phone snapped shut and with it Sorrin took a deep breath calming himself, this was turning out... well pretty much how he figured it would after mentioning Elzo's name.

"For God's sake, Elzo's first, middle, and last name respectively should have been Stupid, Reckless, and Idiot; but he's a good guy. You didn't give him the chance, he said you just hauled off on him, he was texting some girl Victoria, he was nervous said that she was the one who helped set most of this up anyway."

"If Elzo really told you everything, you would know you're something different," he said with a final sigh before slumping against the porch railing. It was her turn to do the yelling thing, he probably wasn't going to like it much.

God damn you Elzo.

Normally Audrey would have responded with a matching tirade and the pair probably would have ended up in a bloody fight in the middle of the Collins' front yard. Jason would have had to break it up, possibly call the cops, and then deal with the ferocious Amazon that his little girl had become over the past year. Sorrin was lucky that he had said the magic word, however. "Victoria? Victoria Collins?!" Her voice was incredulous, a bit ominous, and the look in her eyes was not at all pleased. "Blue hair, blue eyes, fantastic tits and a**?" Odds are if Sorrin saw a picture of Audrey, next to her was Vicky.

Holding out her hand again, fingers made a come-along gesture. "Lemme see that phone again. I want to see more than the two second flashes. I need to think." Lips pressed together as the phone was placed into her hand, the pictures accessed for flipping through. A bit more delving revealed that Elzo had indeed been sending non-stop text messages mourning and wondering what the hell had gone wrong. It pulled at Audrey's heart, and the anger melted away to a deep sadness that she'd been crazy and messed up something really good.

But the point still remained that Elzo was still probably better off without her. After all, hadn't she hopped into Castor's arms without even a thought for the boy who loved her more than anyone else? Wasn't Beryl ready to ice her? It was bad enough that she'd dragged her family into this mess, what would happen if they got back together, and she mysteriously vanished?

No, it was probably better that he forgot all about her.

Handing the phone back quietly, ice in her eyes melted and threatening to flood, the blonde spoke as smoothly as she could. "You can tell Elzo that I'm sorry I was wrong then. But I'm not going to get back together with him." And that was that.

"Yes, Victoria, I should have guess you were related with the name, still that's who he was texting." He paused at the second comment, "I'm not saying anything regarding that, right now that would be rude to you and to her and that's not why I'm here."

Reaching into his pocket again he pulled out the phone passing it back over. "Go ahead, you won't find anything but what I've told you." Sure enough she found Elzo complaining, lamenting, over all emo-ing to the highest degree of emo Elzo would ever possibly reach.

Sorrin had nothing more to do as Audrey flicked through text after text it was evidence enough so he simply waited till the phone was handed back. What ever cold glare Audrey had it was fading fast now it seemed.

"So that's it huh..." awkward, now he got to play the one who bared even worse news to his friend. He started towards the porch steps but stopped turning back to Audrey, "Look, Audrey, I can understand you might not want to date him, but... you can't just have me go back and tell him it's done. At least do me this, do it for Elzo and for whatever good feelings you might have had and still have and just talk to him. One last time?"

No crying. It was the one rule that the bluenette had set for herself all those years ago in middle school, where everyone was trying to find where they fit. Tiny Audrey had found out very quickly that she didn't really fit in anywhere, and crying achieved nothing but making her look stupid on front of all those idiots. Lately she was more and more emotional, but even now she would be damned if this friend of Elzo's saw her crying over him. You had to be the empty Coke machine, it was something she'd heard somewhere. They were going to press your buttons, but you had to be empty.

The problem was, she was anything but empty. If she were empty, there wouldn't have been a Castor, an Elzo, a Khal. An anyone! There would just be her and Rosie, going it together through the ranks of pleasurable young men until they could go no longer.

"Listen, if you don't want to have to tell him, just send him my way. I appreciate what you're doing, you're obviously a really good friend." God, was she honestly being this nice? What had happened to the cranky young woman who wanted nothing to do with anyone? Probably Pasha. It was the only explanation. "I don't hate him anymore, shock and awe, so I'll talk to him if he comes by." Pausing, Audrey sat on her hands. "Tell him my parents are out on Thursday night, best he comes by then. Dad is uh. Not thrilled. I didn't tell him anything, but I'm his only daughter, his baby, blah blah." It was faintly embarrassing, really.

Looking up at the sky, and back at Sorrin, she tilted her head. "My folks are inside, do you want me to drive you back home? Least I can do, after all this." It hadn't been a really great thing to do, but it was a noble one. For a bro.

Please don't cry, please don't cry, do anything but cry that was the last thing Sorrin wanted was to have to console a crying ex, specifily Elzo's one. Thankfully it seemed that wouldn't happen and Sorrin relaxed. However only slightly considering she was such a sharp thing earlier.

"I'll let him know as soon as I can, I won't do it now, he would probably try calling you or having me pass my phone to you... he's not exactly ready for it yet, but Thursday should be enough time." He smiled softly shrugging, "Parents will be parents, and bro's will be bro's. Elzo and I have done... well we've done a lot of stupid stuff and I'd do just about anything to help him out since he's the only real good friend I have in this city."

He turned looking at his bike shrugging slightly, "If you think we can stuff that thing in the trunk it would be nice? Good chance to meet the infamous Audrey Collins after all this time. Especially now that we've gotten past the details of this really really awkward and strange situation?"
