OOC: I'm going to kind of steal (and try not to godmode too much) the current infants for this. The guardians of said infants are quite free to post RPing their children, but the guardians aren't actually present at the time. wink
Caroline had been comissioned by Valelldia to teach the infants a lullaby, so she'd gathered together all of the infants, including her own Rojiza. Present are Rojiza, Kale, Anzeka, Aisrhan, and Anjette, all sitting more or less attentively toward the short, stocky gypsy woman before them. "Alright," she begins, "I know most of you can't talk," she smiles lightly at Anjette, "But you can all listen. Even you, Rojiza." A giggle from Ro. "I'm to teach you a lullaby, and I think the one I'll use is the one my Mama sang to me when I was a wee bairn." She clears her throat and then in a low, husky voice, she begins to sing.
"Sleep my child and peace attend thee, All through the night Guardian angels God will send thee, All through the night Soft the drowsy hours are creeping Hill and vale in slumber sleeping, I my loving vigil keeping All through the night.
While the moon her watch is keeping All through the night While the weary world is sleeping All through the night O'er they spirit gently stealing Visions of delight revealing Breathes a pure and holy feeling All through the night.
Love, to thee my thoughts are turning All through the night All for thee my heart is yearning, All through the night. Though sad fate our lives may sever Parting will not last forever, There's a hope that leaves me never, All through the night."
When finished, she smiles, wondering how on earth she's to teach these children to sing when they cannot even talk.

Anezka sat with her legs folded "indian style", holding her ankles and rocking back and forth as she listened to Caroline sing. She closed her eyes and hummed a little to the lullabies melody. Ani was always very keen on songs, especially slow, sweet ones. When Caroline finished she smiled and politely clapped her hands, "Pretty..."

Delighted at a verbal reaction, Caroline leans down toward Ani. "Would you like to try and sing it back, darling?" she asks, smiling warmly toward her daughter's first friend. Straightening and addressing all of the infants, and a child who had come to stand in the back, she says, "You all can sing, if you like. Just try. Repeat after me, if you would," she instructs. "Sleep my child and peace attend thee," she says, singing the first line. Eagerly she awaits their responses.

Ani nodded and continued to rock back and forth, "Sleep my child....and peace attend thee" She was a little off on the timing and she had no clue what she was repeating back, as her understanding of speach was not fully developed. but that mattered little. Her buck-toothed smile grew bigger and she nudged Rojiza, "Sing...yeah, sing"
[ani is like a talking parrot, hears it-says it-has no frickin' clue what the words meant...lol]

OOC: @Em: I saw your permissioney post in the regular thread, and sort of added him in. xD He's the 'child who had come to stand in the back' that I mentioned in my last post. Feel free to have him do stuff. 3nodding
Caroline smiles at Ani. "Good, my dear. Very good. Now the next line: All through the night," she sings. She continues to go back and forth with Ani, repeating lines from the song. Rojiza, meanwhile, is content to listen. When Ani nudges her and entreats her to sing, she merely smiles and shakes her head.

Annjette was dropped off a bit ago and obviously wasn't happy about it. Her violet colored eyes swum faintly with the threat of tears from the hurt that caused. Voltaire had agreed to allow Caroline to 'borrow' her while he made adjustments to Clair d'Lune.
However, her ill-mood didn't stay for long, Caroline acknolwedged her and that seemed to make her feel better. Also the song was pretty and served to sooth her further. For now she just watched the Rabbit-girl and Caroline interact. She had never sung before, but she had watched her papa play the fiddle many times.

Having successfully gotten Anezka through the song, she turns to the rest of the group. "Would anyone else like to try?" she asks. "How about you, Annjette?" she suggests. "I'm sure you have a right pretty voice." The last word sounds more like 'vos' as she says it.

Annjette blushed and looked away for a moment. Could she? Surely she was able to vocalize, but singing was an entirely different matter. She smoothed out the skirts of her dress attempting to be adult and lady-like as she had seen Lorelei do from time to time, "Will try." She replied to Caroline cautiously.
The small swan-girl wanted to do the best job she could, but would it at least be good? It'd give her confidence, and that was assured. She had not yet discovered a talent that was outside of magic, and perhaps this was hers?

"Oh good," says Caroline. She sings the first line of the lullaby to Annjette as she had to Ani. "Can you sing it back to me now?" she asks.

Annjette listened intently as the first line was sang to her as it was to Anezka. It seemed easy enough to do.
"Sleep my child and peace attend thee..." Her voice was light and airy, but yet there seemed to be a hauntingly dark and sad undertone to it which seemed to speak of her very own duality. She did not seem too aware of this, and once she was done she waited for words of approval.

Caroline stares at Annjette for a moment, stunned. "Wow," she says. "Ye've a prettier voice than I have," she says approvingly, smiling warmly at her. "Let's try the next line." She sings the next line of the song. She casts a sidelong glance at her own daughter, who seems more interested in her toes than in the song.

Annjette blushed more at the compliment and smiled slightly glad that Caroline had approved of her song-voice. She then listened carefully to the next line of song as it came and then sang it back:
"All through the night..." Again the untertone was present in her light and airy voice. It was something she'd likely not be able to get rid of, and it almost seemed as if she sang in two voices all at once without meaning to.

Caroline continues to repeat the song line by line for Annjette. She wonders in the back of her mind what Rojiza's singing voice would sound like when she finds her voice. "See?" she says with a smile when they are finished, "You've got it!" she says to Annjette, patting her little cheek delicately.

Annjette smiled at Caroline glad to have pleased her to some extent, and then blushed as the woman patted her cheek. It was one of those gestures that confirm and re-establish that one had done a good job.
"Done?" She asked, just a bit a way she saw Voltaire approaching dusting off his hands and looking tired as if he had just ran many leagues, but the truth was he had been working on other things all day and they were just as tiring.
Of course now the swan-girl was not in any hurry to leave.
