User ImageProbably one of the few days he has to himself. Wandering about the pack lands, he found himself lost in thought of its beauty and the expanse of land that was under Deimos' family's control. Still, it wasn't quite his preference; being a northern born wolf, the cold is naturally his element. Seeing the land without the hint of white powder, it made him smile in remembrance what the snow actually felt like at times.

His thoughts traveled further into his mind that it became more of state of introspection. The charcoal-blue hued wolf sat himself down beneath the shade of a pine tree, looking out to the expanse of rolling land before being shadowed by the cliff that ended their boarder. Family, would it be possible that his family survived? If they did, would they even care to look for him now. Hanging his head, he pondered if Deimos ever wanted pups. It was every male's dreams to become a father and to have a family, it was the natural goal of everything that had two balls between its legs. But, being with his mate, he pondered if it was taking that dream from him. Surely Deimos loves him, he has told him so quite often, even expressed it through various actions that were truly reserved for him as Ehrek would reciprocate. Still, did he?

Ehrek sat beneath the pine tree overlooking the rolling grasslands that were shadowed by the cliff of the pack pondering his mate's dream of a family. In itself, if he wanted one too.

These were . . . these were all the wrong colors!

Reds and oranges and yellows behind her, brown beneath her! Fall! Gods, she didn't really like the fall. Bright colors were all well and good, but it destroyed the pristine greens of spring and summer, and whatever other pastels she could associate with them. Fall meant things were dying. Fall meant more rustic colors. Meh . . . Only her beautiful sky above was untouched, which was comforting. Blue still except at dusk and dawn.

Blue wasn't always a sad color . . . It certainly made Mythrila happy. Maybe it was vanity, considering her pelt color. But she didn't feel terribly vain to be honest. Just another statement of fact. The sky was blue and she liked it. the forest was green, and she liked it -

Whoa. Green. Blinking out of a daze, the femme looked up to the numerous pines now around her. When did those come? "Oh my . . ." Well it was pleasant to know some of the trees were stubborn against the dying colors. Almost as if she had hit another area of summer untouched by time~ Smiling to herself, Myth slowed her pace down to take in the scenery, sucking a deep breath of the somewhat minty air and exhaling softly.

Green and dappled shadows and - wait, blue? She perked at the contrasting figure, blue and gray against the green and brown of a tree. Blue!

Blueeeeee!

Instinctively she began to draw near, yellow eyes wide like a pup finding a most curious creature to investigate.

Snap

Ehrek's attention shifts quickly as eyes narrow and ears go alert, his hackles raise and his tail to his beta position. Who in the pack would sneak up on him now? They were family but even then it was not too wise to sneak up behind someone else. It was a twig snap, he was certain of the sound. Jerking around, the young male turned to the other side of the pine trees that sheltered him. Yellow eyes focused; green of the pine needles, brown of the dirt and wooden trunks, then blue. Far too dark to be that of the sky and even then it wasn't dark enough to quite be the shadows. His eyes narrowed for further focus, ears forward for further sound, and nose shifting through the air for a scent. He must have been upwind because he didn't pick anything up.

It was until the stranger drew near as the dark shadows vanished from the dark blue pelt and the golden, yellow eyes grew brighter. It was another wolf! Of course, but was it one of their own? Ehrek relaxed just a bit, enough to lower his hackles and put away his growl, still maintaining his alertness and his tail to signal his status within the pack.

Still, though how long it has been, Ehrek was finding himself unable to match many of the faces to their names and their names to their scents. Let alone identify this one. However, it came to him with eyes wide like a pup with curiosity and playfulness. Who was it?

Discerning from the scent now that it was much closer, it was a female, that was certain but what was she doing way out here? Did she have something to ask of him? Did Deimos need him? If so, why couldn't he just come out here himself, that way the two could share a good moment together alone and away from the family.

"Y-yes?" He sheepishly asked, tilting his head a bit to listen for an answer.

Blue! Sure, with a lot of gray, but blue! And . . . and! She could swear he had yellow eyes. Blue fur (kinda) and yellow eyes! Apparently ignoring the initial startlement the wolf displayed, Mythrila approached with eagerness and a waving tail.

"Hi! Hey there! Hola~" she greeted him with a big smile, stopping within conversational distance. "You know, you're a sight for sore eyes! Too much redness going around, too much brown too. Here's it's nice and green, and I finally see some blue!" She seemed giddier then a puppy in the snow for the first time; certainly her tailwagging began to pick up speed.

"How's it going, blue kinswolf? I bet it's lovely here knowing the pines will stay for ages. Does it get too cold up here? Do you even know this place? Not that you have to, I'm just wondering. Kinda ramble since I haven't seen another wolf for, oh . . . well since sun up really. Know what I mean?"

This wolf's words just spilled from her maw like a waterfall dropping water, she just continued to talk as if air was only necessary when she decided it to be! Ehrek's ears flicked backward, taken back a bit by the sudden assault of words and questions. Who was this wolf and what did she want!? Blue? Green? Red? Brown?

"N-no, I don't know the pack lands that well, I haven't been here that long," he answered only one of her many questions. He had been here for a while but not yet has he seen the sky turn grey and the the white drifts fall to the ground, wiping out color to the purity of the absence of it. However, she seemed very friendly to him even calling him her blue kinswolf. Wait, was she only nice before he was also blue?

"I-I haven't seen any snowfall yet so I couldn't tell you cold it gets. And I'm not usually cold anyway because I've grown to prefer it. If anything, I find everything quite warm right now and warmer if my Alpha was around like he usually is," Ehrek answered.

His tail still in its beta signal position, he buckled himself down. He was still a pack member and his heart was devoted to Deimos, the alpha. This was possibly a stranger in their packlands and here he was conversing with it. Her scent was not like the rest of the family.

"Who are you? And did you come here looking for something?" He questioned, trying to sound more stern than his usual young, playful self. "These are claimed territories."

His first answer was good enough to put a stopper to the rest of the sea of questions waiting on her tongue. While Mythrila was a wolf who might ramble, she was old enough to know that even one answer was good enough to fulfill several. While the wolf spoke she took the time to finally notice his body language, the raising of the tail, the stern quality that was snaking into the small creature's voice.

Whoops! Now how to respond, ah . . . She wasn't sure how high this guy was in the ranks, but he mentioned "my alpha" and surmised from that and the stance that he was probably a beta or some equivalent to it. Consequentially, she had to lower her tail before she risked further rudeness, and added a lowering of her head as well. Just in case!

"Sorry, sorry, desculpame! My name is Mythrila," she introduced. "I'm on a search for other blue wolves in hopes to find my sister, Adamantia. She looks terribly like me, only with slightly different and brighter markings. You wouldn't have seen her, have you?"

Ehrek's eyes raised as she slowly postured herself to a suitable submissive state. That was correct, he was a ranked wolf among the Einsame but how he stood here was rather unknown to him. Deimos would always be his alpha and that was going to stay, however what rank he himself may take, Deimos would never change. Ehrek gave a rather short howl to the winds and quickly snapped his jaw shut to end it abruptly. Maybe someone would hear his call, maybe not. In either case, it was still a situation that he can tend to on his own.

Looking around, no other members were nearby and none could be seen from what he could tell. Even his mate wasn't near like the usual behavior of the big wolf. It was strange and slightly unnerving that Ehrek was essentially alone. However, this female seemed fine enough, she posed no threat. Simply seeking her sister, she must have been passing through. Ehrek mentally shrugged as the tip of his tail casually before planting his butt down. A strange behavior in this wolf is that unlike most, when he sits on his behind, his feet extend outward and point upward rather laying flat against the ground.

Tail wagging slowly, "Well, since you're a stranger, and I didn't recognize you at all, chances are your sister isn't here," he replied. Which is unfortunate because then her quest would be over. "Then again," he said thinking out loud. "if you did find your sister what would you do then?"

Myth hadn't expected as much as a "you ring a bell" of course, but she had to ask, right? "Don't know to be honest," she answered, mimicking the wolf and plopping on her butt, though unlike the male she went straight to scratching a spot on her neck with a back paw. Aaaaaah~ "Tackle her with joy that she's still alive and we found each other? Mourn her half-eaten body while scattering the scavengers? Or maybe neither, maybe I will never find her. Telk is too large . . ." More scratching.

Aaaaah once again~ It was always the troubled spot, one that required much bending of the leg and neck to reach. But always so satisfying upon reaching. She hoped her journey would end similarly, even with her so casually mentioning the chance that her twin could very well be dead for all she knew. Though something told her she wasn't.

"You've got someone else's smell on you sir, pardon my being nosy." Mythrila chuckled at her small pun. "Is he around? Maybe he might know more." A long shot, but she took any chance to both ask about her sister and to see and speak with other wolves. Solitary journeying wasn't healthy for a group-oriented creature. "Then again, guess you read my mind by howling~"

"That's rather a morbid though," he added. How could one be so optimistic and pessimistic at the same time? Why she was just a bundle of... a lot of things, but never did he thought that she would pull this one out of the air and make his stomach sink a bit. However, this was still the first few moments that the two had met.

The blue kinswolves.

Ehrek watched silently as she casually tended to an itch that needed a scratch. Well, seems as though they have gotten to that casual level; he was wagging, she was scratching, and they were both sitting. Nothing too serious and his howl had already echoed with no response. I guess no other wolves were around nor was there any wind to carry his voice to any ears. Maybe Deimos wasn't around...

Wiggling his nose, he smiled when she brought up his scent. Oh his earthy scent mixed with his winter pine. Suppose there was a difference there that could be picked up. Made the young smile thinking about how much his old winter pine scent was leaving him as his mate's earthy musk was enveloping him just as a mate should claim and signal to others of their ... 'territory'. "Of course, yes, he has to know. He has a much better memory for these things," Ehrek tilted his head upward letting out a playful, low, long, accented howl, one that he often used just for his mate. Deimos has to know something, plus he would want to know about a stranger like this one!

Deimos wandered the forest alone, something that almost never happened. His uncle had gone one direction, his mate another, and Deimos had been left to wander in yet another direction to mark the edge of the Acropolis lands, leaving a warning to any lone wolves or rival packs that may or may not pass through.

And because he was alone, he was also alone in his thoughts; lately, however, his thoughts weren't a bane, and he smiled as he realized that finally, he was at peace. His pack was safe, old and new, and finally.....finally, they could settle down into a semblance of normalcy.

Only one thing kept him from true happiness, and it was something he kept hidden deep within. Deimos knew that Ehrek shared this desire with him, and he mourned the fact that they could never see it come true; puppies were a want of both males, but their same genders would forever keep them from seeing cubs of their own.

It was a bitter thought, one that he tried not to dwell on often. But seeing his niece's young ones had awoken that yearning in the big male again, and it was determined to rain on his happy thought parade.

Suddenly, a familiar howl cut through the air, pausing him in his tracks. He listened to it in its entirety, although his body had already turned towards the direction it had come from.

"About time," he murmured with a smile, loping into the trees towards the howl.

Never would he keep his beloved mate waiting.

"Morbid it might be, but also true it might be. But no more talk of death, I don't want to stain this little green haven with the brown talk," Mythrila said cryptically, though still in a jovial tone somehow - such was the way she lived, acknowledging the bad but pressing forward with the good. It never was healthy to ignore both sides of a situation, though one could wonder why she would feel a need to address both of them constantly. Probably a need for balance. Ah, balance . . . Hence her utter relaxation here with a stranger in the pines. So much "brown" and "fiery colors" had exhausted her eyes to be honest.

The femme tilted her head towards a random direction as if expecting the wolf to come any minute now that she smelled upon the male. Was it the alpha? Or the beta's mate? Or perhaps both . . . Myth straightened up from her undignified position of neck-stratching and cleared her throat. "Ah, um . . . Yes."

Nonsense was part of the rambling, as a wolf would soon find the longer they were with her.

As the seconds slipped, she began to review the mannerisms needed to not annoy a wolf of power. Unless a pup was being called? Wait, why would anyone call a pup? Because they're cute of course . . . she thoguht with a smile.

He could smell his mate now, but the scent of another also filled his nose. A low growl dribbled from his maw, and he slowed, sniffing the air more deeply. A trespasser, with his mate, on his packlands?

His first instinct was to bristle and charge in, but Deimos had always been a calm alpha, and he stepped through the undergrowth with his tail raised high, ears pricked forward as he listened to the stranger's voice.

"Little green haven, huh?" Wagging his tail gently, Deimos stepped into view, coming up behind his mate to nuzzle him gently. He eyed the newcomer, thinking that her blue fur was rather pretty. Blue tended to be his favorite color, as it graced the form of his dear mate.

"Welcome, stranger."

"Deimos, you didn't waste any time I see, quick to the call?" Ehrek teased as he nuzzled back into his mate as he arrived. But he was not oblivious to his mate's mannerisms, his ears were sharp enough to have heard that growl in his maw before he approached and his tail raised high with those large ears forward. I expect nothing less. the young one mentally mused.

He watched as Deimos came to greet the stranger female just after she had gotten up and straightened herself out. Yes, she was respectful to those within a pack, could save her hide one of these days while looking for her sister. She was bound to cross into territories and that meant that she would have to respect the land's owners.

"Huh, now that I think about it, you must have known you entered our territory when you passed through our marked areas," Ehrek queried. "I mean, you couldn't have missed a spot, right?" he asked, looking at Deimos with some worry. An unmarked area meant strangers entering their lands without any thought which could cause unnecessary problems for the pack and the strangers; innocent or not.

"Oh!" Ehrek snapped back to the group conversation, his tail wagging behind him as he remained seated. "This is my alpha, Deimos."

Never mind the minor holes in her logic, or the relationship of the males - Mythrila merely stared at the enormous wolf, he who seemed all the larger next to the smaller blue male. Worse, the . . . the red. Big. Red. Big Red. Oh she clearly heard "Deimos" alright, but the words "Big Red" were already burned into her mind - and practically into her retinas. No, he wasn't a particularly blinding red, but she was sensitive to any hue of the color for some reason. Any fiery color for the matter. "Fire, fire untame," she muttered under her breath, shrinking in posture, ears docked. Myth was almost at a hunch even.

The male, for all intents and purposes, was literally filling her with dread and anxiety. It wasn't right, blue and red together! The femme fidgeted for a moment, averting her gaze to the trees before returning to the pair.

"Guess I, ah, guess I felt like seeing some wolves, you know?" she managed to say. "Even if it looks like trespassing - and I swear that wasn't the intention!" Mythrila added hastily to the alpha. "I was just telling him about my sister. Blue like me, but better. More pure."

Now there was something in this Big Red's eyes, though, the blue that laid there. There of all places! She couldn't help but look into them, confused as she once more muttered to herself: "Blue to you too . . ."

But that made no sense!

As she probably wasn't to the pack wolves.

Deimos glanced askance at Ehrek, brow raised. There was something not right about this female. She just seemed strange, and possibly a bit off her rocker.

Sitting on his haunches, which made him a little less imposing, he cocked his head at her. "You like the color blue, don't you? But you don't like my color very much," he guessed, watching her face to see what her expressions could tell him.
