The true meaning for most human beings' actions, especially parents, can very much immoral and frivolous. What Maisie knew was the truth. At a young age, she knew the truth of her parents and their true intentions. She knew that her only use within their bitter divorce was to intensify their hatred for each other. She knew for a fact that Mrs. Wix, passed her google-eyed stare and under her greasy grey hair sat the brain of a woman who cared most for her than any of her guardians, governesses or mentors. Lennyka knew what Maisie knew after reading "What Maisie Knew" in the well-known part of the building where the Rockets who knew most frequented. Lennyka Dinkley certainly knew what Maisie knew just from reading her book, but she knew more.

Unlike Maisie who knew only the tip of the iceberg during her youth, Lennyka knew much, much more. She knew the truth of human beings, of how terrible and a corrupt species they are. She knew that they were disgusting embodiments and deserved no sort of sympathy for their actions. Yet, she also knew that passed the sickening souls of humans sat a beauty seen in no other species. Human beings had the utmost ability to express emotion through written works, to bring the image in one's imagination alive without stripping away the imagination of the reader. That is what Lennyka knew. That was the one truth she knew and loved about humanity. The fact they were the processors of great beauty. Some are ignorant to such things, like her brother, but she knew such people exist and won't judge them. It was possibly a secret only discovered by those who knew where to search. Yet, it is a wondrous secret and those who knew most just knew where to look.

Yet, Lennyka Dinkley also knew she was in trouble. She was suppose to be delivering a handful of papers to be signed by the head honcho of all things book-y that afternoon. After having them sign away at them, she was to return justly to her duties in filing. However, they were not there. A new delivery of books to the library had just come in and it took all she could to not just trash the delivery forms and tug the boxes back into her room. However, Lennyka Dinkley also knew Miss Claire, her roommate and greatest friend ever, would get quite feisty if she found out Lennyka obtained some more stacks of books to add to her collection. So, to pass the time while waiting for the head proprietor of books and avoid her BESTEST FRIEND's anger, she read.

And she continued to read, and read, and read . . .

Until time passed and it was late evening.

Lennyka Dinkley was in trouble and she knew not of a way to get herself out of it.

Imogen had several books tucked under her arm as she pushed open to the door of the library, hoping, vaguely, that no books would fall on her head this trip. Looking around, there didn't seem to be anyone at the desk that could help her by re-issuing her books...

Oh, but there was someone. A girl sitting near the front desk with a shipment of what was apparently new books. Imogen didn't recognize her as one of the regular library staff, but maybe they had transferred her here to help categorize all the new books or something.

Walking up to the girl, she asked in her usual cool tones "Do you work here?" arching her scarred eyebrow as she did so.

She put the books down on the desk and continued "I need to return some of these, and have others re-issued for me." she explained, waiting for the girl to hurry up, pull her nose out of the book, and help her.

Sorrel eyes raised themselves from the wondrous words they were blessed to meet to the image of a rather unimpressive woman by facial means. One hand raised to scratch the back of her head and she shook it, leaning to the side slightly out of embarressment.

"Ah, no . . . I don't work here, sorry. I'm in the filing department . . . in charge of papers and paperwork and anything papery, y'know? Aha . . . "

A short pause clouded her speech before Lennyka Dinkley cleared her throat and continued.

"The head honcho of all things um, book-y hasn't shown their face today. I think their out on an um, to be honest . . . I don't know. I just to know they haven't shown themselves for some time and well, I've been here . . . waiting . . . just waiting for them to return."

Another hesitation.

"So um, guess . . . you're going to have to wait for her . . . aha."

Surprisingly cold brown eyes watched Lennyka as she squirmed her way inelegantly through her explanation.

"I see." was her only remark at the end of this rather awkward moment between two women. Not really having anything else to do, Imogen turned and sat down on the desk she had placed her books on, and seemed to be settling down for a wait.

A minute or two of silence was allowed to pass before Imogen spoke up again "So if you do not work here in the library, what are you doing rummaging through the new shipment of books?" she asked dryly, that characteristic eyebrow raised once more in the direction of the other girl.

"For an um, delivery." answered the lowly grunt, twin teal braidtails swinging to and fro as their bearer shifted from side to side in waiting. "These are um, new books for the library. I just, ahaa . . . got a little bored waiting for the person in charge and decided to read . . . "

Lennyka poked her glasses up higher onto the bridge of her nose and blinked curiously at the girl. Less at her action for choosing to sit down but more towards her books. The girl obviously was a reader; she had a books for a reason.

"So, you read books?" spoke Lennyka, stating the obvious.

A small pause.

"You read books huh . . . " murmured Lennyka in addition, answering her question and repeating the obvious once more. "What books did you bring back to return?"

"I see." Imogen said. Apparently it was a favorite phrase of hers. She turned her gaze from Lennyka and over to the boxes of books. She had to admit that she too had some curiosity as to what types of books had arrived in this newest shipment. She didn't admit as much though.

Instead, she snorted at the girls' question "Yes. I 'read books', as do you, and just about everyone else over the age of three." A small, sarcastic smile tweaked at the edge of her lips.

With a casual movement of one hand, she pushed the pile over gently so that the spread out across the table so that the other woman could read the titles at her leisure. There was a book on marine pokemon, a book on architecture of the previous century, two books on fancy cooking, a history book that focused on the Kanto region, as well as one book on mountain climbing. Altogether it was a very strange combination of books for any one person to check out all at the same time.

Lennyka's gaze remain untwined by the girl's sarcasm as all focus was turn downcast towards the covers of the books by authors she had not even heard about. She nearly shouted an "OH MY ARCEUS!" to the surrounding air just out of complete self-embarrassment. Yet, the glasses wearing girl kept her cool -- somewhat. A jittering hand reached out towards the books as if they were the holy possessions of some kind of messiah. Gosh, they were beautiful.

"I . . . I have never read any of these before." she replied, voice monotone to reflect her inner knot of sadness. "They're all . . . such exotic topics. I . . . will have to read these later . . . and anything else you read, plus more. I'll read this whole library one day, one day."

Was there . . . a sudden hint of jealousy and dare say, competition within her voice? Arceus, this girl picks the most random people as one-sided rivals.

Imogen watched the other girl with a mild sort of curiosity at the way that she looked at the books she had chosen.

"Hmm, well, if they keep getting shipments of books this size in, your task may be an unending one." she observed, eyes returning to the stacked crates once more before looking back at the teal haired young woman.

This girl was definitely an odd one. One moment timid and awkward, the next there was almost a challenging light in her eye. Challenging her to what? A read-a-thon? Imogen enjoyed reading, but she had better things to do than read constantly. Writing, for one thing.

In truth, the choice of books was less random then a casual observer might believe them to be. She had actually read them as research for a book that she was writing, something that she did in her free time. Often she leaned towards romances (something people who knew here would most likely be shocked by), but this particular one was going to be a historical fiction/action/adventure story. It had been piecing itself together in her mind slowly the past few weeks, and she had decided to take action on the inclination.

Unwilling to share that information, though, Imogen decided to ask a question instead.

"And what is it you're reading?" she asked, nodding her head towards the book the other girl had had her nose buried in until she had arrived.

"Oh, this?" she said and gestured towards the cover before flopping it forwards in front of her carelessly. "A book entitled 'What Maisie Knew' I picked out of the shipment of books over there."

A hand waved off to behind her and she sighed. "It's simply a piece of butchered text based upon the Victorian era." she snorted. "Nothing interesting -- I've read compositions ten times better than a book about things a girl knew."

A sigh escaped passed her lips as she turned her gaze towards the entrance-exit momentarily than returned it to the book's cover.

"Why can't I a read a book about things people don't know?" A pause once again, they were quite common for the girl. "Than again, no human knows everything . . . not even me! Ugh, I wish I knew everything . . . but that would make reading useless as I read books to learn. Augh!"

The conversation seemed to have turned directly one-sided as the grunt continued to babble with herself. However, she took note of Imogen's presence once again and sighed.

"My name is Lennyka Dinkley, by the way." she spouted. "I haven't seen you around the base before, are you new? It's not often well . . . we do obtain new grunts everyday so I can't say it isn't often so . . . um, yes, are you new?"

Imogen tilted her head so that she could read the title better. It didn't sound terribly interesting. Apparently the other girl didn't find very interesting either.

"A book of things that people don't know couldn't exist in the first place. You'll have to content yourself with books of things that you do not know." The woman said with a shrug.

"And knowing everything would be incredibly boring." she pointed out simply "What would be the point of living if you knew everything? There wouldn't be one."

She listened to the other girl babble a bit more before finally introducing herself. Figuring that it would just be strange to continue the conversation without introducing herself in return, she repled "My name is Imogen Bowerson. But no, I'm not new. I've been here for awhile now." A cynical smile overcame her face "I'm not exactly the most noticeable person a room,so It's not surprising that you don't recognize me." she pointed out.
