Each hoof fell into a crackling of leaves strewn across the forest floor. Through the trees and remaining foliage down lower to the ground, golden light of a fading sun filtered through, setting his armor agleam. The chain clinked and rattled softly with each movement he made, the stallion keeping a steady pace. Just beyond the thin line of trees he could see the sunlight glinting off the surface of one of the rivers, leading him towards the mangrove and cypress forest should he travel long enough. Should he?
The thought was a peculiar one. He was not seeking adventure, as he had as a colt, and he was sure his family was aware he would not be returning for some time. It was not patrols around his mother and father's lands he now took, rather, patrols of a wandering son.
And a wandering knight.
His muscles flexed beneath his tan coat, years of training and sparring and learning having quite an effect on his physique. Sure there were males - and females - larger and stronger than him still, but he would like to hold a little smug pride in his strength. And his speed.
In a rare show of childness, Arthur allowed the energy still zipping through his body to jet out, twisting over and around obstacles. He thundered on through the forest, and though he might seem careless to potential dangers around him, his eyes and ears were keen to keep him from stumbling into a predator's lair.
Time passed, and his speed slowed, slipping out of the trees and along the smoother terrain along side the river. Now a steady trot, his breath came out into the crisp air as solid puffs, controlled... but still evidence of a small workout. Endurance in a run was never his strong point.
At least it was fun.

Dusk, the time where day slowly loosened its grip over the land and night began her graceful sweep over it. She felt more at peace at this time, though no longer welcome in the herd she'd been born to, she now moved across the land on her own. The light breeze caught her mane, making it ripple lightly at the ends as well as catching the charms and ribbons that decorated her, but as she lightly stepped through the forest, careful of every step she took, mindful of the smaller world that lived below her hooves. As she stepped through the forest and towards the river, the fading sunlight caught the sunset colored scales that adorned her body, creating a faint shimmer in the air around her.

The slight breeze pulled him along, tugging playfully at his mane and tail. It pushed him to follow the river further and further, keeping his simple pace. His body was as relaxed as he could be, muscles ready to snap to attention in case trouble should decide to emerge from the forests around him.
But wasn't a foe that caught his attention with their movement, at least not that he would assume when he spotted the figure. Dainty, careful movements far more graceful than most he had encountered through his life, the being seemed to glow. Even as he slowed further to a calm walk, approaching carefully, that glimmer didn't seem to want to dissipate. It was the first time he'd seen someone with scales, or at least scales that did not belong to one of those dragon-esque Kalona. Rainbow, too.
"Good evening, m'lady," he greeted simply, bowing his head in respect to the mare. He stopped a small distance from her - close enough to host a conversation, but far enough to still be respectful of a stranger. Just as he'd been taught by his knightly tutors. His eyes caught on her crystal horn, brow raising ever so slightly. Now he was sure he'd never met a winged, scaled, horned being before in his life.
That wasn't about to turn and rip his throat out, at any rate.
Flicking his gaze across the flowers and lace that adorned her, he couldn't help but wonder if her delicate appearance was nothing more than a facade. "Pardon my intrusion, I was not expecting to encounter another in this section of wood."

The sound of another's voice caught her attention, she blinked a few times before her gaze fell onto the armored stallion. She was surprised she hadn't noticed him before, she was generally more careful about where she was, and who was around as well she wasn't that well equipped for a predator.
"Good evening sir." She said with bow of her head, a sign of respect. She had many lessons of the sort and well she didn't see any reason let the lessons she'd been well taught to go to waste, it had been a major part of her life for so long, she saw no sense in changing it now.
She'd never seen a stallion in armor before, but then again she had not met many stallions since her rejection of the herd, she mixed kind was not welcome. "I am sorry, I did not mean to interlude on you. I can go if you wish.." She said, her tones soft and feminine.

She was charming, well-mannered. Voice and actions all befitting her regal appearance, really. More and more he felt the twinge of curiosity as to why he'd never encountered her before. Not that he was acquittance to all who lived in the area, but still.
He shook his head lightly, brown and orange bangs flicking across his emerald eyes. The chains at his side jingled from the vibrations. "Not at all, m'lady." His features remained stern, though he did lighten his voice to not be the rougher tone he typically used. "I was only passing through, myself." He paused, and for a moment, allowed himself a chance to his curiosity. "Forgive my bold question, but are you by chance from around here?"
He was not his siblings. He did not thirst for treasures he did not own, he did not seek knowledge of the obscure. Obliging his curiosity was not usually his way, but every once in a while would do no harm, right?
