Ask woke up in the morning knowing that Isolde would be needing a tour around the school today. Luckly, he knew his schedule would allow for it. He got up and dressed in a simple green shirt and brown pants. He put on his most comfortable pair of boots and wandered down for breakfast.
After that he moseyed towards the office and settled in to lean against the wall outside the doors to wait for Isolde to pop through them. She'd probably be about two minutes, he thought.
He hoped he wouldn't trip over anything today. Ever since he'd grown he'd been like a super klutz. It was not fun. Any grace he'd had as a child was long gone and he was stuck with long limbs, weird feelings about other people (boys if he was honest) and a pair too many wings to smack into things or people when he went around corners too fast.
It would really suck to make a fool out of himself in front of Isolde, she'd always been so graceful. But at least she'd be nice about it if he suddenly fell over a banister or something. His voice was done changing, thank god, he'd have hated to have his voice break in front of her too.

Isolde bounced down to the office in her blue dress and black galoshes. Ask was supposed to give her a tour around the school. It was nice to hang out with her oldest friend, even if they didn't sail boats anymore.
"Hi Ask!" Isolde waved frantically at him. "You grow too fast! I'm never going to be as big as you! Do you like my wings? Aren't they pretty?"
She spun around to show them off, then looked up at him. He was a lot taller then her now- she only came up to his chest. It happened really quickly too; he was only a bit taller then her at the Ball, when Gavin and Kei started fighting over him.
"I see you recovered from your ordeal at the ball! Even if you can't dance as well as Kei and I."

"Hey Isolde." He fidgeted a bit as she commented on his growth. "Do you want to be taller then me? I do like your wings, they're lovely. And as for the ball..." Ask heaved a huge sigh, sure, he'd recovered... if the confusion brought about by Gavin's weirdness and Kei's protectiveness was considered healed. "I never want to dance again. I'm an even bigger klutz now."
Luckly he was used to her rapid fire chatting, and he never minded answering multiple topic changes in a row. He put a hand on her shoulder to start steering her towards their first destination. "You have your schedule, right?"

"I don't want to be taller then you - just somewhere closer to the clouds, like you," she said as she whipped out her schedule. "You'd be a lot more graceful if you learned to dance," she said, in what she thought was a sly tone, and nudged his side. Unfortunately for her, Isolde was too guileless to be sly. Ever. "Your wings grew, too! Can you fly with them yet?"

Ask almost fell over when she nudged him and then blushed in embarrassment. He really needed to figure out his new equilibrium, and soon. "I'm not going to learn to dance. That'd just encourage them. And they may be big enough, but I have to strengthen them first." Speaking of his wings they flared to help him regain his balance but smacked into the wall. Ask winced then sight and pulled two of them around to make sure he didn't hurt them. Once he deemed them unhurt he took her schedule and looked it over.

Isolde twirled her dress a little. It felt nice and swooshy. She thought Kei would enjoy how it felt; she should ask him. Dresses had to be more fun to dance in then pants were. As Ask looked at her schedule and decided where to take her around, Isolde decided to keep pursuing the topic of the dance. Then she could report back to Kei how Ask felt about it.
"Why don't you want to encourage them? Wasn't it nice having them fight over you? I wish someone would fight over me. You're going to have to fight them off anyway, Ask. Or you would if you dressed a little neater. We need to get you a nice smart suit, something snappy. Maybe a hat to go with it. Then all the guys and girls will want you. Plus if you know how to dance, then you could pick who you danced with instead of getting dragged into it. Who would you pick, while were talking about the dance?"
Isolde was determined to have her answer. If necessary, she had a secret weapon. She had heard about the Halo boxers.

Ask took a look at her classes and decided to show them where they were in order. That way it would make chronological sense, then he'd show her all the dorms and other buildings. He started off in the direction of her first class.
"No, it wasn't nice at all. It was very confusing. And I feel like some sort of advantage that they're fighting over to gain superiority over the other." Ask made a small face just thinking about it. "A hat? Isolde?" He made a small tsking noise. "I like my clothes just fine. They fit, and they're good for hiking and stuff." He tried to resist blushing at the "You're going to have to fight them off anyway." He failed.
"Anyway, I'm not going to get dragged into a dance again. I'll run away first. And I didn't want to dance with anyone there! I mean I knew that something bad was going to happen (for once it'd just been a simple hunch and not fact) if I danced and it did! Ugh, that night was a catastrophe." This was probably the most Isolde had ever heard him talk, but now he was getting flustered from remembering The Night That Must Not Be Spoken Of, Ever.

Isolde skipped after him. "But isn't it nice to be wanted? It's not because they're fighting with each other, it was because they both wanted to dance with you. It's romantic." Isolde sighed girlishly. Then looked at his clothes. "Hiking? Really?"
Isolde didn't understand boys sometimes. They just didn't make sense.

Ask blushed again and made a little sound of frustration. He couldn't seem to stop blushing lately, especially when "wanting" and Gavin and or Kei came up in conversation, especially conversation with the word "romantic" in it. "I guess, but I don't know about romantic. I think I was convenient on some level. And yes. Hiking. Really."

Isolde sighed. Ask and hiking. He would be difficult about it. "Well, I don't think it was just convenient. Not for Kei, anyway. Gavin I'm not too sure of." Isolde wrinkled her nose. "But Kei wouldn't just do that to confront his brother." Isolde grabbed Ask's hand and started swinging it back and forth as she walk/skipped along side him. "I know you're getting all grown up and all, Ask, but I think it's ok to be liked. You don't have to be embarassed about it. And I know you are cause you're blushing. Or is it that you have your eye on someone else?"
(Once again, Isolde fails at sneakiness.)

"No, being liked isn't a bad thing." Ask responded and let his hand and arm swing along with hers. "And, no, I don't have my eye on anyone. I can't seem to stop blushing these days. It's just been... very confusing lately."
Isolde was totally guileless. She was a real sweet heart. Whoever she wound up liking would be really lucky. They better take good care of her or he'd beat them up. And it was a rare thing that could make him say that.

"I don't understand what's confusing about it. You like someone, you dance with them, you get butterflies, you date and you fall in love, get married, and have babies. That's how it works. All the stories go that way."
Isolde really didn't see what Ask had to be confused or embaressed about. She knew how love worked; Ask was older, so he should too. Right?

Ask sighed. "I never even considered romance, Isolde. And, things can be very confusing." He would have been amused by her list of events if he hadn't been thinking about the dance and various other events since the Halloween Ball. "Not every thing happens like it does in stories. I guess you'll know what I'm talking about when you're older." He stuck his tongue out at her teasingly. Clearly he'd been waiting to use that one.
"Here, this is where your first class will be." He said changing the subject, not that he expected it to last, and opened a classroom door for her to look into.

Isolde peered into the room. It looked . . . classy? Desks and whatnot. Not terribly interesting. "I hope I can sit near a window! Some of those stories are actually really gross. I read one where a horse's head gets nailed up on a gate and another one where a girl wears this really gross fur coat for years without changing her clothes or washing her hair." She looked down the hall. "If all the classes are along here, I think I can find them. Can we go see the other buildings?" She paused for a moment, then had a wicked thought. "Like the boys' locker rooms, maybe?"

"Yes most of your classes are in this building." He described how the numbering and floors worked and pointed out the stairs.
"As for the boys' locker rooms, why would you want to see those? They're very messy and gross." He made a face and started leading her to the cafeteria instead.
