November calls a strange and unusual circumstance. You wake up to find you're in the world of the Fae and fairy tales. If you don't know where you are, you'll certainly be able to piece a few tales together for posterity. . . Maybe. Survivors Study and Eat Their Wheaties.~~~~ So, where do you find solace from the angry trolls and Red Queen? Do you hide in Rapunzel's Tower or in NeverNeverLand? What could possibly be used against the enemies of the magical wood? Do real time objects work there or are you going to try some unconventional methods? How twisted could you get, and how could you get back without losing your sanity?
Fairy tales have been toned down for centuries, just for us. In that time, we've been sugarcoated to the highest standard and possibly believe we don't have a problem fighting the unknown. Lets see how everyone does when thrown into the dark world of the original frights.
We're talking about the Big Bad Wolf, waking up in a beast's dungeon, being mistaken for a peasant, and most definitely sucked down a rabbit hole into another land. It's about who you kill and from whom you take food.~~~~ Info -- Grimms Fairy Tales, Hans Christian Andersen, Lewis Carroll, all have one thing in common: An Origin of Fear. Andersen killed/tortured females in his stories, Grimm had a way of bleeding people out, and Lewis Carroll stretched a madness. I wouldn't want to be stuck with these three in a dark alley.Sario-rip Find the fairy/elf/benevolent being queen! They always give you something helpful! Watch out for dragons! If you think you can, you can! Stay out of the woods! Pick up the nearest sword! Don't go through the normally-closed door! If it's sacred, don't touch it! If it's possessed, don't touch it! This is the hardest because it's so vague. How do you know what fairy tale you're in? We'll have to come up with a series of tests, I think. Like, are there any strange mushrooms that want you to eat them? Are you underwater? Candy houses? Are you dressed in rags cleaning the hearth?

Why not make a general rule not to eat/drink strange objects/food in a fairy tale land. X3

I'd say eat what anyone doesn't want you to have. The fae have a horrible habit of giving you things you Want to try, so I'd say stick to grass and nothing else, unless you had the foresight to remember a few snacks.
I could still make it a d20, since that was pretty fun last time. I welcome the tests, though. Tests and tests when you've become sure of your tests.
As far as tools, I've always been a fan of iron and salt. You never know when you're going to come into a dangerous place, and those two things are pretty nifty.

Oh, it'd almost be necessary, especially if you knew your tales. They're pretty much identifiable by recognition. If you see a wolf, you're either in Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs. In both cases, avoid going into houses or wearing bold clothing.

D20 would be fun but I enjoy making up tests as well. You can take it either way.
A witch would be much more vague, there are always witches.

@ 'Nilla If the witch has a wart and has a broom, maybe Wicked Witch. If she has decaying teeth and sticky fingers, definitely Hansel & Gretel.
SR, great post, quoting!
However nice the benevolent queen is, make sure to never eat anything she gives you.
It's also safe to say that, per your post, you should have a Compass/working astronomy knowledge. . . and a watch that keeps perfect time, a sword, lantern/light, gloves, friends, a book of jokes, More common sense, a Will to survive, a**-kissing prowess/cunning, and the ability to create tests.

i think you'll find this helpful. i know i have ^_^ it's Instructions by Neil Gaiman. it's baisically instructions in what to do if you find your self in a fairy tale wink http://www.endicott-studio.com/cofhs/cofinstr.htmlit mentions remembering your name but it's also a good idea to use a different name because names have power and someone useing evil magic can use your name to control you.

Dang, I'm going to be used as a test subject. I'm ALWAYS a test subject.
I like that Neil Gaiman link, 1DS. Very poetic, and Names have power. If power is the currency, trade is the mode of currency, and deceit is its wallet.

Never forget, Fairytales used to be cautionary tales, as thus they will always end badly for you.
