Description: Corin is a young male on the shorter end of the height and weight spectrum. He is rather thin, with a lean build, though he has abit of a baby face and pinchy cheeks. He appears very young, and his personality only emphasizes the juvenille age his physique gives off. His skin is relatively pale, though in many areas on his upper body there is a tan tint that matches the patterns of his species, and on his lower legs, there is a orange tint. Between his toes which are also highlighted orange-yellow, there is a black webbing commonly seen in duck feet, though because of his small feet and how humanized he's become, these are not normally visable unless he parts his toes. Along his upper arms and over his shoulder, there are small black speckles, and near his neck and collar bone are black rings that imitate the feather pattern on the chest of the gadwall drake. On his cheekbones and lower jaw are similar speckles to that of his arms, though under each of his eyes, there are three, distinct triangular speckles pointing downward.
Corin's hair has varying shades of brown, ranging from a darker, almost woody undertone, to a very light, tan highlight. Shorn to a messy fluff on the top of his head, his hair has a feathery texture, and appears to be rather poofy, and light. The longest it reaches is about halfway down his neck. It tends to spike in various directions, and there is a single alfalfa that curls forward and slightly angled to the left in the center of his hair. His fringes and side bangs are much the same as the rest of his hair. His forehead is mostly covered by his hair, and it frames his face, his bangs long enough to reach, but not poke at his eyes. His eyes themselves are a deep, dark brown, with a shiny glossy look to them. His wings are the same as the gadwall drake's, and are attached to his shoulder blades, and abit small compared to most wings. They reach a span that is equivalent to alittle more than halfway down his lower arm from his shoulder, measured from the tip of the longest wing feather to the end of the feathers attached to the bone of his shoulder blade.
Personality: Corin displays a sweet, kind demeanor and starts out very much like the child he is and looks like in his early years with Kevin. He has little to say, and is very quiet and obedient, with an innocent curiosity of the world around him he knows not of. He is loyal, probably to a fault, and retains much of his duck-like habits from his old shadow form, quacking with surprise and following around his owner with that innocent admiration, even if there was nothing to admire. He finds little to hate in others and things unlike himself, and holds a very optimistic viewpoint of the world. In this, he also mistakenly doesn't have the ability to realize or recognize danger or find those things that pose a threat to him. His natural instincts are still prominent in his reactions, and common sense is normally overpowered by animalistic logic after he discovers he's not in an ideal position. Panicking is a trait of his that he fails to suppress on various occasions, which often leads him into more trouble than he can handle, and brings about a cycle of events that requires intervention by another to halt the spiral. Corin will seek comfort from various sources, and take awhile to regain his composure and normal calm state of mind, though he does leave behind the incident rather easily afterward. Corin is quick to forget and forgive, and has a long lasting trust and belief in all others that he meets, one of his greatest traits, and greatest faults.
In addition to this tendency to fall into a spiral of negativity, Corin also has been noted to have several disadvantangeous traits following his more ideal ones. For starters, being quick to trust in a world corroded by greed and selfish desires makes Corin a liable target for a bad crowd. His naiivety is second in his list of faults that finds itself behind his panick. In being loyal, Corin has also fallen into a category of taking things too far. Unfaltering can easily turn into a negative trait of his, since he will quite literally do anything that will bring happiness to the people he loves. That combined with his naiiviety has a very low failure rate in getting him into trouble.
Despite his personality making him prone to falling into situations that would easily hurt and bring down his mild self-esteem, he has kept his sweet and kind ways and holds strong to himself and those he comes to love. He hides little, and is very honest, and perhaps that would make him shallow and unsettlingly kind at first glance, but he receives others with open arms and worries not of the future or of the past, choosing to believe that as long as he and the people he cherishes are happy, that the "now" is good enough. Loving others is easy for the young duckling, and he holds true to his loyal, go-lucky route through his new life alongside Kevin. While he also loves attention and being taken cared of by his owner, he also grows nervous in face of a crowd and being the center of attention, showing a slight shyness, though he would quickly grown comfortable around other people if given the time to interact with them.
Corin also displays some frequent habits that have been noted by Kevin through his time spent alongside the older male. He has a tendency to flutter his wings whenever he's happy or smiles, and in general, has found that he loves cool baths and swimming, thanks to his duck heritage. He also is very predictable and readable in the small, subtle actions he takes with his hands when he's nervous or holding back giggles. Corin is also undoubtly a visual learner. Telling him how to do something without a demonstration is likely to lead to less than pleasing results and a very flustered and disorientated duckling. While he struggles with learning human ways, his determination and willpower keep him from abandoning them for his natural, animal instincts. He does all he can to make himself the best he can be, and make it easier for those around him to be around him. His sweet demeanor and unfalliable soft aura has given him an attractive base as a person. The little quirks he retains from his gadwall origins only aid in making him more child-like and innocent.
While people do change over time and through maturity, Corin of his youth will likely grow up without loosing much of his old personality. It's very likely he'll retain his sweet, child-like innocence while gaining some more common sense and human-like features to add to his diverse ways. Learning more and being more emotionally developed will also help him discover more about himself. While this period of time will surely bring about a more fragile confidence, Corin's strength from his childhood will likely make him less vunerable to falter in his ways and accept how he is as the right way. His lack of need to suppress his animal half will also give him strength to move past self-doubt and keep him steady as his body and mind changes and matures.

As to why Corin became Kevin's pet, the reason was quite simple and small, though how he goes about fulfilling it is less than easy to read or understand. Little Corin was brought forth to change Kevin. For a long time, Kevin had been discontent with the way he was, with life as it was. He didn't want to be the way he was, and yet he stayed as is because there was no one to bring about any difference in his sunken heart. Without anyone, Kevin had become lonely. He didn't trust people, nor himself. Until Corin appeared, Kevin had no one but himself to rely on, because no one really ever tried for him, and even to himself he felt sometimes he could not trust the way he was or what he'd do. The person he became conflicted with what he dreamed of being, even if he tried burying away all these dreams, and for awhile, succeeded.
It was thanks to Corin's appearence that Kevin change, that Kevin was able to change. Corin provided essentially what Kevin had always been missing, just by being around; someone to trust. Quiet persistence and his warm attitude and ways that Kevin had tried to shield himself from for so many years was brought back, and with a startling background, so that Kevin couldn't turn it away. At least very easily. Without his former means of avoiding people all together and being able to ignore the needs of those around him, Kevin found in Corin companionship and a loyal friend. He found that he could trust, that his fear didn't have to dominate his life. Little Corin gave him firstly, a way to remember what trust felt like. Corin took away his loneliness that brought about all his less that admirable traits. His unfaltering loyalty showed him what it was like to trust in another, and also reminded him of what it was like to believe, by seeing him old self in Corin's sweetness. Without even trying, Corin's personality had already begun to process of changing Kevin, and luckily, for the better.
Corin's influence however, didn't stop with just idly watching and staying alongside Kevin. While his innocence and personality did contribute to a large piece of what brought about Kevin's slow evolution, Corin also took action in helping his stubborn, overprotective owner, perhaps unintentionally as well. The way Corin never failed to somehow always be near Kevin and stay beside him, despite his attitude and the constant complaints he received from the older male was one such way. By instinct, and by will, Corin enjoyed being around Kevin and took action to stay near him, following him, perhaps to an unreasonable extent.
Even the things he didn't do had helped bring about changes in Kevin that would otherwise had been unbelievable. Corin's quiet nature that was probably brought about by the gadwall duck in him, had a reasonable part in helping Kevin adapt. Corin rarely complained, or whined about not liking something, unless he truly loathed it. He rarely disobeyed what he was told to do, put in his all to not trouble Kevin anymore than needed (though by simply being there being trouble to the gruff older male, that didn't work out so well), and leaned away from asking for things unless it was a necessity.
To Kevin, Corin was both a challenge and a friend. From day one, Corin's reason to exsist was simply to do exactly that, exsist. The way Corin carried himself and who he was, was enough for his purpose to be fufilled if he just stayed the way he was brought into the world. Devotion and love for Kevin as his owner manifested the reason for how he acted, even if the duckling really had little idea of it. In a simple solution, there rests a bounty of smaller steps to get there, and Corin was the journey and resolve.

The Gadwall is 46–56 cm (18–22 in) long with a 78–90 cm (31–35 in) wingspan, and the male weight on average 990 g (35 oz). The breeding male is patterned grey, with a black rear end, light chestnut wings, and a brilliant white speculum, obvious in flight or at rest. In non-breeding (eclipse) plumage, the drake looks more like the female, but retains the male wing pattern, and is usually greyer above and has less orange on the bill.
The Gadwall is a bird of open wetlands, such as prairie or steppe lakes, wet grassland or marshes with dense fringing vegetation, and usually feeds by dabbling for plant food with head submerged. It nests on the ground, often some distance from water. It is not as gregarious as some dabbling ducks outside the breeding season and tends to form only small flocks. This is a fairly quiet species, the male having a hoarse whistling call. The young birds are fed insects at first; adults also eat some molluscs and insects during the nesting season.
The Gadwall’s closest relative within the genus Anas is the Falcated Duck, followed by the wigeons.
There are two sub-species, but one is extinct:
~ A. strepera strepera, Common Gadwall the nominate subspecies.
~ A. strepera couesi, Coues' Gadwall, extinct circa 1874, was located on Fanning Island.

Kevin Louvard ♂ | Owner | Corin's less than ideal, changing owner. Though he's stubborn and secretive, as well as less than emotionally adaptive to others, and very likely socially inept, he still makes a kind owner. Thanks to Corin, his loneliness was lifted and they've developed a special bond together, almost like father and son. Corin himself loves Kevin as he would have had Kevin really been his father, and displays an unshakable loyalty to the older male. He enjoys surprising Kevin and in return, being surprised by Kevin's rapidly changing interior and exterior ways.
Amelia ♀ and Gregory Louvard ♂ | Strangers | Kevin's parents, whom Corin hasn't really met officially yet. Kevin will mention them at times to be kind people, and Corin shows an eagerness to someday meet these folks whom are so close to Kevin.
Nicholas Louvard ♂ | Stranger | Kevin's little brother, whom Corin hasn't met officially yet either. He is the one who gives his hand me downs to Corin to wear, so Cory would love to thank him someday.
