What a weekend it had been, WHAT a weekend.... the Crystal was safely...where ever it was that his uniform stayed when he wasn't actively being Zinkenite... he'd had a small moment of panic when it hadn't been in his pocket anymore, but as soon as he changed back he'd found it right where he had left it. He honestly wished he had somewhere more secure IN uniform to put it though, it was a panic to think he might accidentally fire the thing at some senshi even if what the queen said was true about it being no use to them.
He never wanted to see cake again though... he'd had MORE than enough cake when he was trying to find that damned crystal. Unfortunately...he was supposed to be 'home' again this weekend for his mother. She disapproved of the ball, or at least of his own attendance but had allowed him when he said He'd be there to make sure Beth didn't get into trouble. The irony of -that- statement hadn't escaped him in the least.
He'd had to slip back to the house so that no one would wonder why he'd gone back to the doom on a weekend he was supposed to be home too, but at least his bed was comfortable. They had all slept in that morning after the ball, something he counted his blessings for. Unfortunately as the day progressed his Mother had decided that she was feeling like a home maker which meant he had been evicted from the kitchen so that she could try her hand at being domestic.
He flopped down on the couch beside Beth and turned to look what she was up to just at the moment. "Did you like the ball then?...I mean right up to the point where it got crazy...where did you end up anyhow?"

Crazy weekend? That was a understatement. She wanted to go to the masque... it was supposedly going to be the 'hottest' event of the year. Kind of ironic when she thought back, everything WAS on fire... so technically it could be seen as foreshadowing when they said 'hot'.
Beth sighed, and sank more into the sofa... looking rather un lady like as she slouched. The couch wasnt the comfiest... but it did allow you to sink into it.
The negaverse had the crystal... or more likely, ZINK had the crystal. He was the only one to try and 'leave' the cake once they dug into it... when he left the crystals power fell and drained them all of energy. He was the only possible choice, she had to ask him about THAT later. Or try and take it... then again Beryl might have taken the crystal. She DID seem hellbent on getting it.
Ugh.... cake. Thats all she seemed to be able to think of mostly. She didnt want to see cake again for a LONG time... "Oh!" She said, When zac sat down and turned towards her. Her face turned a bit red. "Yes it was fun... i dont know what happened though. I admit i kinda... ran away once the commotion started." She lied. "I'm not good in those kinds of situations. How about you? I didn't see where you went!"

"More or less trampled, I did spend some time trying to see what the fuss was about." He said with a small shrug. Why not be as close to honest as he could...it would help keep his story strait after all. "Kinda weird... I ended up booking it though, just too much crazy for me." He shook his head. "I wish I'd seen you, I felt bad but when I didn't see you in the room I figured you'd already gone... Looked like some people got seriously hurt too." He added with an expression of concern. "And that weirdo bursting through the -wall-, god... the property damage alone will drive people even more crazy about the costumed wackos don't you think? Or...well maybe you missed that part...I'm just glad no one got hit with wall... it was this enormous WAVE... crazy."

"I was looking around for you for a while... it wasn't until i saw smoke coming out of the building that i got really worried. Was their a fire? I figured you got out safe... im glad i was right." Really she was concerned for her cousin... but she figured he was smart enough to get out safe. She hadn't seen him leave so she figured he was long gone. Then again she was kinda busy avoiding the fireballs and flaming youma and slippery flores and cake monsters.
Oh and Beryl, that kinda sucked.
"You should be more careful Zac! You could have gotten seriously hurt from what that sounds like..." She hated lying to him but hell what was she supposed to do?

"Umm...yeah one of the chandeliers went up like the big boston fire...-really- weird." He shook his head putting on his best perplexed look. "I was careful... I'm not hurt am I? I think they were more interested in the dayglow rock to be honest." He shrugged. "One hell of a halloween prank if thats what it was." He scowled a little and suppressed a shudder remembering his meeting with the queen. He stretched trying to cover and and flopped back against the couch and closed his eyes. "It's been a while since Mother got 'domestic'...I wonder what got into her."
He half wondered though if it was the letter he'd seen her clutching the other day. She'd looked so happy he had no doubt it was from 'Father'.

"Just call me captain paranoid then." She smirked with a shrug. "You just got over your recent spat with your... drunk friends. So i didnt want you to come out in WORSE shape.. you know?" She remembered that chandelier and inwardly twitched. She also remembered slipping on those damn icy floors... and the snow. God that was one hell of a mess.
"Prank gone wrong? I mean from the look of the smoke im guessing a big 'ol fire happened..."
At the mention of her aunt she turned around and heard..humming. yes like..singing humming come from the kitchen. "..You think shes going to poison the food? I've NEVER seen her this happy." Beth hadn't been around her aunt that often though, choosing to hide more than be social.

That made him twitch slightly... when she's not looking swap plates with her...then wait for to take the first bite." He said and it sounded FAR to serious for a reply.
"I think she got a letter from Father." He added with a small sigh. "Which would explain her mood."
He dodged any further commentary on the ball lest it look like he stayed too long for a normal civilian.

She eyebrow quirked at that, wondering if it had happened before... had her aunt tried to POISON Zac? The hell why in the world would anyone try to poison him? She chose not to touch the subject any further, fearign any reply he might give.
".. a letter? That's a good thing though, maybe? I mean.. shows he still cares?" She still wasn't entirely sure if he was bitter over his father still... "Well if it wasn't a good thing she probably would be throwing that extra cake at us."

He turned his head just enough to give her a very flat... "yeah, right." Look in reply to the idea of his Father still caring. "My bet would be...that she found an address to write HIM, and she got a reply not that he initiated this." He said and then made an UUUGH face at the idea of cake. "ugh... No offense to our cake but... I think I could go a long time without seeing sweets again." He said and shuddered.

"Wishful thinking?" She said with a nervous grin. She loved her cousin so much... but something about him still scared her.
"I think i ate enough cake to last a lifetime." She muttered, before she mentally caught her mistake. Oh crap. "I mean like when we made it last week.... that was a large enough slice to last a LONG time."

Zac's mother, perhaps fortuantly for Beth because Zac had shot her the most curious look for just a moment, BURST into the room with the flamboyant joy that might have been the equivalent of Martha Stewart on Steroids.
"I made DINNER!" She announced, as she re-tucked her hair into a tight bun and pushed a pair of small wireframe glasses up her nose.
"And you're going to LOVE what I have for desert!" She added folding her arms and looking very satisfied for herself. "NOT ONLY...do we still have some of that WONDERFUL birthday cake left over, but work had a party today and they had the BEST caterers, we have another 2 kinds of cake to choose from, isn't that WONDERFUL!??"

Beth could never understand why her aunts generation loved Martha Stewart so much. Yeah sure she'd seen some of the shows, and she can have some pretty cool ideas, but the woman never really spoke to her like 'role model' before. She about LEAPED off her chair as the woman banged into the room, with the prospect of dinner. "Oooh... what did you make?"
.... and then the cake was mentioned. Out of ALL THINGS....Cake. Not just any cake... three DIFFERENT cakes. The look of disgust and queasiness was apparent on her face. "....Uhm. I think ill skip desert if that's ok." She laughed nervously.

"Ah...me...too if thats ok, we had a lot of cake at..." Zac started to add as he stood, looking more than a little 'green' at the gills.
"OHH no you don't there will be NO diets in this house, you two are going to clean your plates and you can diet while you're at school. Come on! Come come come, I don't do this often and you're going to enjoy this if it KILLS you!" She scolded and ushered them onward to the dining room where dinner....and cake...waited.

If she wasn't already sore from the battle, and not as tired, she probably would have sunk her claws into the floor and begged not to go. "Nono! Its... its not a diet! I just... uh.... cake makes me sick. Yes sick! Please auntie i will eat everything else but the cake..." She pleaded with green soulfilled eyes. "If i got sick then all your wonderful food would go to waste!"

"Since WHEN?" Demanded 'she who must be obeyed'... for that was the tone she used, one Zac was very very familiar with. Enough so that he reached out to touch Beth's arm.
"It's my fault..." he interjected, after all they both had participated in the Birthday cake in all its rainbow glory. "We ah... I had a sweet tooth earlier and we hit up the pastry shop and pigged out...I think if we eat anymore tonight we're both going to turn into cake. B...But I'd love to take some back to school....for my teachers."
Her eyes narrowed at him, a glint of cold fury in them. "You want to take it back to that BOY... don't you." She said in low tones.
