Phase One of my Guild Construction Process

I am sectioning my guild construction overhaul between our roleplay subforums, and our chat/community /discussion subforums, and after some consideration I have decided that the roleplay forums come first in my ongoing efforts to finish old/previous projects and create new, interesting aspects of the guild. Here are some notes on my current musings:

Roleplay Subforums

● Each subforum has (or needs to be given) a “home” sticky, which houses a main banner (such as this one), an introduction (such as Hogsmeade’s), and a listing of threads (like Hogwarts) that include cataloged roleplay scenes. I need to do these, and find ways to expand them.

● Ideas for expanding home stickies: adding a post specifically for history, adding signature graphics (such as No Home Like Hogsmeade, Little Shell is Where It’s At, etc), including a map, highlighting important aspects of the town, etc.

● Because I want each location subforum to have a unique feel that is specific to the subforum, I am also going to implement forum-specific stickies in each subforum that aren’t necessary reading, but contain interesting relevant information, like the in-progress Wizarding Drugs sticky in Morbus. I’ll be having Kat write a restaurant review thread for London through the taste buds of Lee Jordan, and Ottery St Catchpole will have its own radio show sticky with Luna Lovegood very briefly reporting on recent happenings in the community (such as the Minister’s recent affair with a bagpipe-playing vampire, and the Weird Sisters’ breakup over a handsome House Elf.) London will also be getting a randomly updated sticky of Jello Fishes’ recently played song lists - all squeaky-clean, fun pop and rock hits. Hogsmeade will have an open letter from the mayor discussing D3er hooligan activity and what the village is doing to stop it.

● I’d like Scarsburough to have a couple of unique stickies as well - I’ll be making one for Early Bird Academy, but the rest are up to Cassy and Lor. Some other ideas include trivia lists (ex, “did you know…?” type lists), extended history, residents’ stories (ie. interviews with residents about the area), “clippings” from local newspaper, local events bulletin board, etc.

● Kat and I need to build several subforums from the ground up: Avalon, La Villa de Sang, Godric’s Hollow, Ottery St Catchpole. And many of the subforums need substantial bulking-up, such as the Beach House and Little Shell. Everyone is welcome to help add threads to these subforums - if you can think of any kind of location/business that we don’t have, please inform me.

I will be posting about my struggles and progress in this thread, so feel free to stick around and discuss my efforts (and Kat’s) as we push through construction that will probably take months.

I have wanted to be able to do the Sticky banners forever, but with free art programs it just doesn't cut it. I'm really hoping to obtain Photoshop of some sort for Christmas. I know I could make graphics you would love if I had the means to. n_n

Maaaan I would make so many graphics....

There are so many subforums now, I find myself clicking through them a lot and just looking at the threads. Just because we haven't explored a lot of these areas yet I feel like I am visiting places I shouldn't be, like trespasssssssing.

Now I have lost my train of thought.

I got to play with Adobe Photoshop when I took a class on it in high school -- and, oh man, it was amazing. gonk heart But the sticker price on that s**t is $600.

Yeah, the number of areas overwhelms me as well.. mostly because I need to fill them crying

I feel bad for Kat, because it's her job to go through every single thread and make sure the images are HQ and fit the size proportions. I just find pictures and come up with a witty line or a description. XD

I'm asking for Photoshop Element for Christmas which is basically a less expensive version of Photoshop that has just the more basic controls. It has everything I would ever use anyways, plus is only $100 or less so yeah. That will be so great, I have always wanted to be able to make awesome graphics for the guiiiild.

Alright. Who wants to help me out with London?

I need to have all of London's major landmarks -- universities, historical buildings, tourist traps, etc -- represented in their own threads. This requires research and picture finding, and will probably result in 20+ threads. The mod willing to do this will have to select a picture, and write the thread description (funny or informative, y'all know it doesn't matter) for me to post, or they can use the reserved threads, or s**t, y'all can hope on The Wizarding World and post them up yourselves if you want. We can work out the details. n_n

I ALSO WANT DIFFERENT COLORS USED IN THREADS THAT MATCH THE PICTURE, DAMN IT. I need to stop being lazy and do this DX

WHO WANTS TO DO DIS?

Having only six hours this week will give me a considerably large chunk of time to consistently work on the guild.

Definitely want to start with London. Adding threads, creating/expanding the stickies, etc. Really want everyone to get involved!
