Dwarves are one of the main humanoid races of the Dragon Age setting and one of the three playable races in Dragon Age: Origins. They are a race in decline, once boasting an underground kingdom spanning much of Thedas, but devastated during the first Blight and still losing both lives and territory to the darkspawn every day. In the dwarven language, they refer to themselves as the dwarva.

It has been said that only 5% of Dragon Age fans prefer playing dwarves. This thread is for those few, as well as anyone who feels even a slight adoration for the stouter race. All are welcome, including those who are simply curious about why we dwarf lovers feel the way we do.

I dunno, the female dwarves just looked a bit too much like kids in some cases...kinda annoyed since I beated the crap out of some of those...

They should have dropped one or 2 stereotypes...
But I think Dwarves never were the big choice in these kinds of universes...
They should have messed more with the dwarves having some abilities when under the earth and stuff...
Not a big fan but they really had a nice chapter...
(Also, I think Ogrhen really didin't help the dwarf popularity...lol)

It might be their size compared to humans and elves... but then again, dwarven ladies do have cute little round faces with dimples~ But then again, again, they are also cute and round in... other areas... >3

That's one of the reasons why I like Varric so much! He's a suave, charming dwarven rogue who sips expensive wines and wields a crossbow named Bianca. If that's not a total disregard for popular dwarven ideals, then I don't know what is. xD
Yeah. It's definitely a vicious cycle. Because they're unpopular, they rarely have chances for being fleshed out, and they're unpopular mainly because they aren't fleshed out... and it's even more disheartening, when you're hearing David Gaider (pooowerful Bioware guy) of all people going, "No Dwarven love interests because... ew!" *hopes and dreams: crushed* Q A Q
Abilities underground? Color me intrigued. Please continue. o_o

That they did. *nods in agreement*

(Oh ho ho, no, he didn't. Definitely a gag character. I know many who love him--dwarf aficionados and otherwise--but he really isn't doing much to change hearts and minds about his people. Not that he would much care to, mind...)

If you played awakening, Ogrhen just is worst...seriously...
Made him a champion, he freaking burps when he starts the aura...lol
But yeah, I love Varric

Oh, was just thinking of older games from Bioware when they had the dungeon dragon liscense, especially Baldur's gate, and never winter night...
Elves were a bit better in forest and at night...
Dwarves had bonus when under the earth to their score and vision...etc...
Just was logic to me...
But yeah....I mean, a romance with a dwarve...would be cool, after all I lost count of how many races I went at it with in Mass effect 1 and 2...lol

My favorite race is Dragon Age would have to be dwarves. I made a male warrior it was allot of fun playing as a dwarf. On the surface people would be all nice to you like "OMG, A Dwarf!" then on Ozimmar "Get out of the way BRAND! (or they would say duster)" In the end it was allot of fun playing as a Dwarf the other races are treated normal most of the time except elves which is the next race I'm going to try out. By the way I think my dwarf I created was the only one that was straight edge the other one (I don't remember his name, never picked him much.) that joins your party was a complete drunk he ashames the dwarf race......

True, they can look adorable but you have to work on it when you make her or him. **giggles**

My third char. was a dwarf. He was pretty awesome and I found it hilarious that Morrigan had to bend down to kiss him.
