Today was a good day for the cub, so far she spent her day wondering about the rouge lands. She had watched the clouds, even chased a few butterflies. She was currently under the shade of a tree rolling around on the leaves. She laughed as she felt them crunch and break underneath her.
Her den was only a sight away, her mother was laying down keeping an eye on her cub; well it wasnt really her mother just a lioness with a kind-heart who looks after her like a mother. Nyota knew that she wasn't her mother but still she loved her just as much.
She continued to roll around the leaves before rolling on her stomach and standing up. She shook herself off and dirt and bits of leaves flew off. She giggled before returning onto her back to watch more clouds and have a laugh. Although the clouds were few in number she still enjoyed it.
She bean to row thursty and got up and ran off the her mother. "Mum is it alright to go get some water i promise i'll be right back." She said her voice sounded as if she sang the words instead of mearly speaking them. Her mother simply nodded and the cub took off for the nearest watering hole, humming a joyous tune, bouncing and jumping about enjoying her day. How could this day possibly get any better? She thought to herself as she grew closer to the watering hole.

Zu was a born wanderer. He was always straying a bit too far from his mother's watchful eye and today was no different. The little cub was a happy-go-lucky tyke, but as the oldest of his litter his mother was oftentimes too caught up with watching his younger littermates, and that left Zu free to wander. He was always within hearing distance of his mama, and didn't like to stray TOO far, but there was always that little bit of excitement that thrilled him when he was off alone.
Taking a sip from the little watering hole that was near his mother's den, Zu kept a close eye out for any intruders. He was wary but not overly so, and didn't hesitate to even splash in the water a bit, enjoying the dampness against his little paws.

The young cub made her way to the watering hole, she saw it come into view and thats when she sprinted toward it. The breeze threw her fur felt cool. As she got closer to the watering hole she spotted the lion cub but that didn't stop her. With a leap and a holler she found herself jumping in with a big splash for such a small cub. The water was nice it wasnt hot, but not cold either. She found in soothing.
As she came to the surface she was laughing swimming in a circle for a moment before slowly swimmg to shore. She was drenched,looking likee the wet cat she was she shook the water from her coat. "That was such a rush!" She said incoherently with excitement. She looked at the lion cub examining him, she smiled softy and simply nodded acknowledging him.

Zu watched the strange lioness cub jump into the water with such happiness, and he couldn't help but smile as the water lapped at his little toes. He imagined the water was pretty cold, but she seemed enjoy it. He returned her nod, watching her carefully though the grin never left his face.
"Is it cold?" He'd never gotten that wet before on purpose, it'd always been on accident. He'd trip and douse himself in a puddle, or when the rainy seasons came he was rather unlucky at dodging raindrops. Zu waited for her answer before continuing his questions. He wanted to know her name, and where she lived! He didn't have friends. His mother liked to keep moving, which was fine with the cub, but having a friend even for a while would be nice too.

Nyota smiled at the cub, “It’s perfect!” She said sweetly and enthusiastically. The water was actually quite tepid, Nyota actually thought about going in again. She continued to analyze and observe his features.
“Plan on taking a dip?” She smiled and let out a little laugh. She never had any siblings to play with and she never strayed too far from home. Actually she’s never really had a friend before; usually its just her and her mother; maybe he could be her first friend she grew giddy at the thought. She moved a tad closer to the young lion and sat down.
“I’m Nyota” She said with a gentler smile and a melodic tone. She wanted to be as friendly as possible. She wasn't sure how else to act but the smile seemed to be working, she noticed the slight grin on the lions face. Today sure was turning out to be splendid for Nyota.

Zu grinned at her. She seemed to be about his age. He shook his head, glancing sideways at the water. "Nah, I don't like water too much. It's good fer drinkin'." He shrugged, the grin on his face deepening when she laughed. "I'm Zu," he replied. "It isn't short for nothin'." He got that a lot. Zu was his name, just Zu. Nothing more.
"Nyota is a nice name. Where d'ya live?" He idly scratched behind his ear. She was awfully friendly, and Zu wondered if she liked to play tag or hide and seek.

"Zu" She smiled as she repeated the name. "Well Zu I love playing in the water its soothing." She scanned over the waters surface as the sun was shining above it, she looked back over to the cub, " You should try it sometime." Nyota said with a some what scarcastic but admirable manner and couldn't help but laugh.
Gaining her compsure Nyota simply smiled and said, "Its nice to meet you Zu, I only live a little walk away from here, it's just me and my mom." She stated He was very inquisative, Nyota was a more play now sorta of gal. But she found it to be a little cute that Zu was so cautious and curious. She couldn't help but let out a little giggle.

"Soothing," he mumbled, eyeing the water with something that might've been distaste. "It looks wet." He shot her a look out of the corner of his eye, watching her as she looked over the surface of the water. She did have such a nice laugh, and one she used so readily. It was nice.
"It's nice to meet you too," he back-pedaled, beating himself up inwardly. His mum had always said that he needed to work on his manners, but Zu sometimes got too excited to remember them. "I live back that way," he gestured with his head, dipping it back behind him with a quick jerk. "It's me, mum and my little sisters. There's five of us. We haven't been here long. Do you like to play tag?" His sisters didn't.

“Of course it’s wet silly, that’s the fun part!” She laughed. He thought it was funny; he acted as if the water was going to kill him. But Nyota wouldn’t pressure him; she saw he didn’t like it.
Nyota moved forward some when he back-pedaled. She could see he was... awkward... He wasn’t sure how to act. It was refreshing and a tad bit funny. “Big family” she said her tone a little more melancholy; Nyota was always alone; she didn’t know what it was like to have siblings. It must be nice to play whenever you felt like it, Nyota thought bleakly. However, the smile never faded from her face.
Her eyes grew wide when he mentioned the game. “Tag?! I’d love to play tag!” Excitement radiated from her. She’s never played games with anyone! This was so exciting for her. Does this mean this young cub Zu was going to be her first real friend? She grew delirious at the thought her tail wisping back and forth against the ground as she tried to contain her excitement as much as possible.

"My sisters don't like to play tag," he groused, eyeballing her as if to rate her abilities at the game of tag. He wondered if he could beat her at it; even if he couldn't, it would still be a fun change from the constant bickering and whining of his sisters. Nyota seemed excited enough to play the game.
He eased closer, looking as innocent as he could before he reached out a paw to thwap it lightly against her shoulder. "TAGYOU'REIT!" he chirped, twirling around swiftly to run away from her before she could thwap him back. She was probably the best girl he'd ever met, and if she could play tag and have fun, she was probably the best girl he would ever meet in his life.

She was shocked at his comment, who doesn’t love to play tag, she thought in surprise, well they don’t know what they’re missing. Nyota was caught of guard for a moment as she was still lost in her own thoughts, but it wasn’t too long after getting tagged that she begins chasing after him. She wondered if she was faster than him. She chased after him trying to catch up; the distance between them growing smaller as she tried to follow him.
She finally got close enough and she saw her chance; her chance to pounce. She ran slightly faster and kicked off the ground. She reached out her paw and thwaped Zu against his hind leg before landing on her feet. “TAG NOW YOUR IT!” She exclaimed with radiance before running off in the other direction.

This was obviously going to turn out to be the best day ever. Not only had he made a new friend, but he'd made a new friend who liked playing tag. She probably also like playing in mud, catching bugs and collecting rocks. As Zu ran after the dark little lioness, he couldn't stop the happy grin that stretched over his muzzle.
She was also faster than him! He had a bit of baby pudge that he hadn't yet grown out of, so he wasn't able to catch up to her quite as fast as she had. "Hey!" he called out, winded by their short little play session, "You're fast, Nyota!" Zu thought that was pretty neat! "I need to grow stronger, I guess." He beamed at her, exhaling in a rush.

Nyota continued to run as fast as her little legs could take her. This was the most fun she's had in her life. The huge grin never left her face, she heard the tired cub call out at her; and she slowed to a stop. Nyota took a look at the tired lion and couldnt help but begin to laugh. She sat at the spot she was at which was a few feet away from the exhausted lion. "Cmon slow poke you cant be tired yet! We just started," She hollered with a vivacious tone.
Nyota began to move closer to Zu but thought it would be safe to sit out of reaching distance; this could be a trick. She smiled at the cubs complement, "Maybe i'm not fast maybe your just slow." She said laughing in a jocular tone. "Besides you'll grow stronger in time, your still a cub." She roared with laughter. Why am i so giddy, the young lioness thought. It cant be because of.... no thats ridiculous, well then again.... She began to analyze her friend further, he did have some charming characteristics...
No, she quickly shook off the thought. She gain her composure and smiled at Zu, "Would you like to take a break?" She thought it was what he need since it was clear he was exhausted.

Zu grinned at Nyota, cocking his head to the side. "It's not easy to play tag by yourself," he explained, looking over his shoulder to where his mothers and sisters rested. "I will get stronger," he agreed, that grin on his muzzle growing larger as he continued beaming at her. He liked that she didn't call him fat or lazy or weak. She'd merely politely asked if he'd needed a break.
She was so nice.
"I should probably get back to my mom soon," he said slowly, the smile leaving his muzzle at the thought of leaving his new-found playmate. "She worries," he explained, sighing softly.

Nyota smiled as she sat in front of her new friend Zu. “I know the feeling; normally I can’t do anything but watch the clouds or chase butterflies.” She remarked at him; she looked past the young cub, curious as to what he was looking at. But the sound of his voice drew her back to him. “Well when you do get stronger we shall play again” She said equally beaming at Zu. Secretly she found Zu rather…. Well cute… although she would never admit it unless he admitted it first.
“But… but you just got here…. There are so many more games we have to play….” Her voice was somber. She looked down at the ground for a moment before looking up. Nyota tried to seem ok that he had to go but she wasn’t…
“Promise that next time we meet well finish our game” She smiled. “I want to how much stronger you get” She let out a giggle as she looked into her new friends eyes waiting for his response.
