It was saturday, which Lily was up to knees in animal food, fur and dropping. She had finally been able to volunteer again and it seemed the staff had missed her and Eamon as well. They welcomed her back with open arms and set her straight to work cleaning kennels and filling food bowls before she got to play with a few of the new dogs.
Her shift ended at one so she had changed into her clothes and headed out giving cheerful see you next saturday's to the staff.
However, as soon as she got outside she realized she couldn't think of anything she needed to do. Her homework was done, the ice rink was closed for renovations, she had no ballet lesson and the park had some sort of marathon in it. Lily sighed, shakingbher head before deciding on having lunch in the cafe across the street.
Today promised to be interesting, maybe.

The park was blocked? Who closed off access to a public park, especially on a Saturday? Where was he supposed to sit, smoke and waste his day ... other than home and the little recreation area outside of his apartment place?
Sheldon sighed, defeated with his arms dangling like they had no feeling as he stared at the overly ambitious people who decided running was a good thing to do with their time [26 miles, of all distances]. His yellow eyes glanced around, seeing if there were any holes between the barriers and paths and found none. Damn.
But oh hey, there was that little cafe near the park and wasn't too far. Sheldon shrugged and began reaching into the back pockets of his jeans [forgoing searching into his over shirt, knowing full well that his lighter was in there] to see if he even had extra cash in his wallet.
His little search through the floods of little pieces of paper, however, distracted him from noticing the recently closed doors and he promptly ran into them. "Oh geez!"

Lily let the door shut behind her as she entered the cafe, but turned aburptly at the thump that followed a moment later to see a boy had walked into the door.
She was back outside in an instant, her face frantic. "Are you okay? I didn't see you there! I shouldn't been paying attention. I so sorry. I should have held the door," she said in one quick breath.
Lily stood feeling ansty and really bad about what had just happened. Not to mention people were staring. "I can buy you lunch, if that will make you feel better," she offered softly, "I really am sorry."

When Lily got to him, in her frantic apologetic state, he was on his knees trying to collect the contents of his wallet that had flown out upon impact. Sheldon was unharmed, even though he didn't look it from the few healing cuts and bruises he had acquired from the Halloween fiasco. His arm hurt sure, which is what hit the door, but other than that. He was fine.
Sheldon looked up, wide eyed at the agitated girl that was fussing over him and held up his hands. "I'm... fine," he told her. "I should have watched where I was going." Was she listening to him?
"Aa, thanks," He offered weakly to a young woman who held out a few old movie ticket stubs that had fallen her way. Another man gruffly handed him a receipt that actually wasn't his, but the green haired boy took it none-the-less.
"You really don't need to buy me lunch or anything," He continued to explain as he finally stood up, his wallet once again complete. Would a goofy grin help the situation? It couldn't hurt, perhaps, as he spread one upon his features. "Please calm down..."

Lily did not hear the boy at first and remained frantic until he stood. She breathed a sigh of relief, stood, but held an unsure look on her features. He smiled and asked her to calm down so she breathed in deeply and counted to ten.
Once she was calm she gave him a smile to let him know she was calm. "I glad you are okay. Sorry I panicked on you. I know you said I do not have to but lunch is on me, I insist."
Lily turned grabbing the door handle and holding the door open this time. "Well what are you waiting for," she asked smiling.

Well, this would mean he'd get a free lunch. But, Sheldon really wasn't the one to take people up on these offers. Usually it lead to sitting at the same table ... and talking. "No, it's really okay," his hands were up again in defense as he took her up at least to the opened door.
"That's just negative reinforcement for being a dumbass for walking into a door," she was an insistant little thing, wasn't she. "Thanks though." He added a few seconds later, trying to make it to the counter and order before she could get past him.

Lily shruged when he again said no to lunch, but laughed lightly at him statement. She the door thing was her fault, but at the same time it wasn't often someone actually walked into a door.
"If you insist. I definitely am not one for negative reinenforcement. Would not want anyone to think walking into a door equates a free lunch", she said walking behind the boy. He tone was far from the high frantic tones fron moments earlier, but instead took on a more cheerful excitement.
When she reached the counter she smiled at him, "I'm Liliana", she said quickly before looking over the cafes drink menu, trying to figure out if she would have tea or hot chocolate.

She seemed to be in a better mood at least now, judging from the tone of her voice. That was relieving really, which meant that the pair could get on with their lives. And later their separate ways.
For now it seemed like he was stuck with her and probably through lunch, given that she introduced herself. "I'm Sheldon," he replied to her while he also glanced at the menu. He had never been to this cafe - he had walked by many times but never inside - so he was unsure of what they had.
"Turkey sandwich," he suddenly told the tired looking cashier behind the counter. "And a coke," was added before the guy could even ask. Silently, Sheldon pulled out a few crumpled bills and slid them across the counter to pay. After getting his change and receipt, he side stepped to let Lily get her own order.

Lily was happy the disaster was over and neither party was no worse off than before. "Nice to meet you sheldon," she said after she had decided on a drink and he had given his order.
The cashier smiled at Lily and greeted her with a long time no see. Lily grinned and replied my parents decided on an extended vacation after the coma thing. The cashier frowned saying she could see why, even though she knew not the whole story.
Lily really did wish to hold others up, so she ordered a chicken salad wrap with a ice tea and moved to the side, with promises of catching up later.
Lily looked to Sheldon and gave an appologetic glane before smiling. "I volunteer across the street so I am hear often."

Sheldon watched in silence as Lily and the cashier engaged in a familiar type conversation, like they knew each other. Like they were old friends and catching up. How... odd. His mouth formed into an 'O' as she explained herself and for some reason, he found himself looking to the side to where she might volunteer. He was aware of the animal shelter somewhere around her and ... perhaps the park, but really.
Cool yellow eyes returned to the red head, looking up and down to get a better judge of her. She was polite, flustered over people, held vast small conversations and... volunteered. Was he in the presence of a girl scout aspiring to sainthood or something? Awesome, it would make him seem like a jack a** if he tried to ditch her or something.
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by another Cafe employee, trying to get his attention to give him his food. "Oh," he lamely supplied, "thanks," followed a smile as he took the food in hand.
"Um, I'm going to go eat outside," Sheldon gestured to the patio area that was closest to the park. How was this supposed to work anyways? He had no idea what the protocol was for this sort of thing, if he was supposed to ask her to eat with him... if it was polite or if he even could go on his merry way and never see her again.

Lily watched a Sheldon was handed his food then said he would be eating outside. She looked to the window and smile. That sounded like a good idea, she had not eaten outside in some time and there were too few days left where one would be able to without freezing.
"It is a very nice day out today, isn't it," she said smiling, before the another worker handed her food, with a come by again soon Lily. She smiled politely and turned to Sheldon.
"Would you mind to terribly if I joined you? It would be nice to have some company while I ate. That is if you do not mind." Lily stood tray in hand with a plesant smile awaiting the boys answer. She really wouldn't have minded if he said no, but she hoped he did not. It was always nice to make a new friend and she had nothing to do in the current moment, other then eat.

Sheldon turned around when she spoke up again, talking about the weather. Was that directed at him or the employee that she had been talking to? The boy remained silent, unsure and glanced around.
"Oh, um sure," he replied after she directed a question to him; positive that was at least meant for him. Don't be a jack a**... he repeated in his head like a mantra, even being a little daring and opening the door for her. "After you ....?"

Lily flashed a bright smile at his exceptance, though she blushed a little as he held the door open. She could not help, but to think back to the earlier incident.
She walked past and headed to an open table looking over to make sure ir had been cleaned before sitting down. She wondered for a moment if she should have let him pick the table, but it was a bit late for the after thought.
She looked out to the street watching the cars go by and people meandering about. A few people even went into the animal shelter. All the while she appeared to be thinking and not at all relaxed.
She looked Sheldon, "You do not come here often do you," she asked at random.

Sheldon was not the observant type, and thus totally missed her little blush as she passed by him. The door closed behind him as the green haired buy followed her to the table of her choice, not minding in the least that she was the one to choose it.
He sat down across from her and began to pick at his turkey sandwich [mostly to see if there was any thing odd about it, that was attempting to make it gourmet and less simple]. He looked up at her question, pausing in his actions, "No," he told her, "I've seen this place a bunch of times when I go to the park though."
"I take it, you do..." He added in, referencing earlier.

Lily nodded, "Yes. I usually grab a quick bite to eat after volunteering on Saturdays before I head off to volunteer at the community center. There was some sort of trip today though, so it is closed. The ice rink is closed, I haven't got ballet, and the park is roped off. It weird not having anything to do."
Lily looked back over to the animal shelter, before taking a bit of her own chicken salad wrap, eating it in the most well mannered way. She swallowed and looked back to Sheldon.
"I think I might volunteer some at the shelter, then maybe study in the library. Doing nothing, just does not come naturally to me."
She ate a bit more of her warp and had some tea before speaking again. "What about you?"
