It was another of those rare days. One that found the cream-colored hunter bathing in the river once more. She didn't do so very often, due to a number of reasons, such as the normal freezing temperatures in the area and the fact that some of the rivers could be pretty rough. Yet, this small stream served her purposes well enough, so after discovering it, she had actually returned more than once.
As it was, she had finished bathing from a recent hunt, and as it was starting to get a bit chilly, she took her leave of the waters. Instead, she picked a large, flat rock on the shoreline, climbed atop it, and lay down to let her fur dry before going on her way. Her long, flowing tail snapped once, twice, flicking out as much of the dripping water as possible before relaxing. She groomed herself idlly, senses as always, scanning the area from time to time for any signs of danger. A lone Krokotas could never be too careful.

He could hear running water a short distance away. It must have been a fast flowing river to keep from freezing solid in the cold, so Tomas was intrigued. How fast did the water need to flow to keep the ice away? Would it freeze anyways, if the temperature dropped? He always thought of these questions when he encountered something new. It was a never ending journey to learn as much as he could about the world.
Quiet Thought followed the sound until he reached the bank. He stopped to take a drink, then looked around. Everything was a dull blue, except for the water, which seemed to be a slightly warmer shade. Interesting. He was so immersed in his observation that he didn't noticed Samantha lying on the rock.

In contrast, Samantha had tensed immediately the moment the other Krokotas had come within range of her senses. She'd relaxed only marginally upon identifying the other as a fellow Krokotas, as he was still a stranger to her. For all she knew, he could be hostile.
That belief quickly dissipated upon sight of the strange male. He practically ignored her presence, though she was lying in plain sight. Instead, he seemed to be staring at the river intently, as if studying something. Were there fish in there? Not that Samantha could see from where she was lying, plus the waters had been too shallow, at least where she'd been bathing.
So what was it that he was staring at with such interest? Head tilting to the side, Samantha's own curiosity peaked and she decided to risk calling out, "Err...hello?" Best to wait and see how he reacted before going much further.

If Tomas was startled, he covered it well. His gaze lingered on the water for a moment before it flicked to the warm shape that was Samantha. Immediately, he was intrigued by her, too. How long had she been sitting there? Why hadn't she said anything until now? Why was she here in the first place? He stepped forward and lowered his head in a polite bow.
"Good day... I hope I wasn't intruding," he said, with a lightly apologetic tone. "It isn't often I see running water. Or a female such as you." He looked up with a grin. Harmless, but with a spark of mischief. "Is this your home?"

Samantha regarded the strangeer with an equally calm gaze. Sensing no hostile intent from him, she returned the polite nod in greeting and smiled.
"No, of course not. I was just wandering through myself, and as far as I know, this land is free for all." She chuckled a bit at his secondary comment, unsure how to take it at first, until she noticed his mischevous grin. Then she responded with a smirk of her own. "A female such as me? My, my, either you are a sweet-talking gentleman, or a deceptive trickster. I suppose it depends on how I take the comment." Her own eyes sparkled with humor, and she held back laughter for now.
It wasn't often she found someone that showed such possibility for interesting conversation.

He loved krokotas with a sense of humour. "I am whatever you wish me to be," Tomas said, continuing to grin. He found himself curiously drawn to her, and wanting to know more. Such was the life of an intellect, or so he thought. Always wanting to know everything about everything.
"Have you traveled far? I've been wandering so long, I can't remember where I cam from," he said, with amusement. It didn't help that he was taken away from his old packlands at the tender age of just a few weeks.

"My, my, a Krokotas from a dream, perhaps?" she teased back, still grinning from her reclined pose. She felt no threat from the stranger, and was relaxed enough to lapse into light, and perhaps even flirtatious, verbal exchange with the male.
It wasn't often Samantha indulged in such behavior, or at least felt at ease enough to do so.
Only slightly more serious, she nodded in response to the stranger's question. "Then I suppose that makes two of us. I've traveled long and far, criss-crossing the lands, meeting Krokotas of all types, and at this point, I've forgotten from where I've started. I wonder, does that make us like two leaves, tossed about on the wind, having lost their tree?" She chuckled a bit at the metaphor, reflecting that she never really thought of herself as 'lost'...just a traveler who wasn't sure what it was she was looking for.
