Isolde was really exited. Really excited. So was her mom. Isolde was moving out of the house, and into the school dorms. She had carefully packed and labeled everything she really needed; her dad had gotten her a circular-dial phone so she could call home if there was anything she needed; Marta, Jane, and Candy made sure she was set for clothing, and Oliver was ready to drive the fifteen minutes out to the school. Mother was too busy freshening her martini to say goodbye, but Daddy came out to say goodbye to her and give her a hug. "You behave at school, ok sweetie? And you can come home whenever you feel homesick. And for holidays. And whenever me and mom are out, you just call the house and let the staff know if you need anything, ok? Like if you want to go to the mall, just ring up Oliver. Now, this envelope has all of the important numbers and copies of your paperwork, so make sure you lock that up. Oliver has a little safe to put in your room, and the combination is your birthday, ok? It's also got one of my credit cards in there, so you don't need to come begging me for money, ok? I love you, pumpkin." "Thanks Daddy! I'll be good at school! I'll see you and Mom and Grampa at Thanksgiving!"
Move in day was quite excited as she watched Oliver and Pacifism carry her things into the room, and Marta make up her half of it nicely. Her roommate should be arriving soon. Just as she was locking up important things in the safe, she heard another person come in. It was a girl.
"HI! I"m Isolde! Why do you have a soccer ball?"

Willow was also extremely excited about moving into the dorm. All her big brothers had moved in too. Edmund had been there the longest, and Gavin and Kei hadn't been there for much longer then a week or so. She'd already heard about how much fun it was to be able to live on their own. Though, neither of them had roommates yet, and Willow did. Kei told her she was very lucky though because her roommate was going to be his best friend Isolde. Isolde sounded very nice, but Willow wasn't sure how well they were going to get along. Sure, her and Kei got along pretty good but... she had a feeling that Isolde was very girly. There wasn't anything wrong with that, but Willow was aware she wasn't the girliest girl in the world. She didn't want to admit it, but she was very nervous about meeting Isolde and living with her.
Nothing could put a damper on the fact that Willow would temporarily get to live far away from Nadia. Nadia was just... so mean to her and Kei when Mom wasn't looking. Willow couldn't stand it. The downside was that Isolde and Nadia were friends too, and that made Willow worry she'd come over visiting a lot. Maybe she could ask Isolde to try to hang out with Nadia not in their room?
At any rate she was almost to her room carrying a soccer ball that she hadn't been able to fit into any bags and her pillow. Her Mom was struggling up the stairs with the rest of her things. Willow had offered to help but Sun insisted that she go check out her room first.
Willow walked into the room and was barraged by who must have been Isolde. Willow blinked at Isolde in surprise a moment and as she did so she noticed that Isolde DID seem really girly, and really pretty too. It made Willow feel self conscious a little but she pushed it aside and offered Isolde a smile instead.
"Hi Isolde, I'm Willow! Guess we're roommates now huh?" Ugh. It was such an obvious statement, Isolde must be able to see how nervous about this she was. "Umm I have a soccer ball because I like to play with it? I'm not really serious about the sport or anything but... it's fun." She offered another smile. "You don't like soccer do you?" Willow doubted it very much, but it was a natural thing to ask.

"I've never played! But I might like it if I did play, I don't know. But I like to dance and ride horses and daddy says if I get good enough at riding I might be able to join a junior polo team at the club. I don't think polo and soccer are very much alike though, cause polo is played on a horse and you have a long stick-thing and the ball's really tiny."
As she chattered, Isolde took a good look at Willow. She had pretty purple skin, and her hair was pretty, too, even if it was cut short. She was kind of nervous about Willow, too; Kei had told her that Willow was kind of a tom boy but Isolde really wanted to get along with her. She just didn't want to mess up her clothes doing it.
"I know Kei and Nadia and I met Gavin at the ball, and Kei told me about you! It's really good to meet you. Don't you have another brother?"

Well so far, Isolde didn't seem so bad, Willow found herself thinking. "Oh I've never watched polo, but it's like those logos on polo shirts right?" She'd seen them in the mall in the boys department while going shopping with her family. "I don't think they're very alike at all either. But um, if you wanted to learn soccer sometime, I'd be happy to show you."
Crossing the room Willow sat on the bed that was obviously unclaimed and set her pillow down at the top of the bed. She put the soccer ball on the floor and then turned to give Isolde a smile and an answer. "It's really good to meet you too! Kei has told me a lot about you. A lot of good things." She left Nadia out since... even though she'd heard about Isolde from Nadia, Willow just didn't want to talk about her. "We do have another, he's the oldest and his name is Edmund." She thought about mooing like a cow, but then thought better of it. If Nadia thought it was weird, maybe Isolde would too. Instead she cleared her throat and continued. "He's been living at the dorms a while so you'll probably see him around."
Just then Sun came bustling into the room with the rest of Willow's stuff. She was slightly short of breath from all the carrying she had been doing up the stairs. She plopped Willow's things down with a bit of a thud and then turned to address the girl who must be Willow's roommate. The girl was alone, her parents must have already dropped her off. Sun offered her a warm smile. "Hello there, you must be Isolde! I've heard so much about you from everyone, it's nice to finally meet you."

"Hi, Miss Sun!" Isolde had very, very briefly met her before, usually at dance class, but only in passing. "How are you? Isn't it exciting to be moving in? I haven't seen Kei yet, but I got some clothes re-tailored for my wings that I really want to show him! And Willow is going to teach me about soccer."
Isolde was determined to charm Miss Sun, as she was the mother of not only her best friend, the aunt of her oldest friend, and the mother of one of her other friends, but the mother of her roommate. She wanted Miss Sun to like her. And to say it was ok to take Kei shoe shopping once their feet stopped growing.

Luckily for Isolde she was already making a good impression on Sun and on Willow too. Sun gave her a bright smile. "I'm doing just fine Isolde! Happy to be helping Willow to move into the dorms." Sun's voice dropped to a conspiratory whisper as she leaned in to talk to Isolde "She's really very excited to be moving in with you, you know." Sun gave Willow a sidelong glance with a little mischievous gleam as Willow groaned and gave a protesting cry of "Mom!" "Anyway, I'm sure Kei will want to see your clothes Isolde, the ones you're wearing are adorable! So are you. Once Willow teaches you soccer you should come over and play soccer with all of us. You can come over anytime you want!" Sun began helping Willow unpack.
Willow was glad that her Mom liked Isolde, because so far she did too. She shot Isolde a grin as he mom babbled on about soccer and such. Then she began putting her things away with her mother's help.
