Zac was sprawled on his bed, propped against his pillow and a few blankets to make a comfortable angle to read at when Dem finally got back to the room. He'd been anticipating the arrival for some time, and imagined the look on Dem's face, and a few possible reactions. Still... he did his best to resist glancing towards Dem right off the bat, too much like showcasing his injuries. "Welcome back..." He said as casually as he could and grimaced slightly because speaking made his split lip hurt. He raised one hand to dab at it to make sure it weren't bleeding again, it was but not as much as before. "hmm..." he said in assessment of it's persistence and grabbed a tissue. "Good day?" He added still casual.

Among the (numerous) changes to Demy's personality was the lack of any 'grand' entrance. The old days of literally throwing open the door and announcing his presence were gone, at least for the time being (though who really knew if they'd ever return). Instead the door opened slowly, and the blonde quietly slipped inside. Ghost-like really.
He only glanced up when he heard the other speak, and he offered a small smile as he turned to shut the door behind him. "It was alright...just going day by day ya know. Nothing too...big. Not today..."
Until, at least, he turned around and got a good look at the other boy. For a moment he stood rigid, acid gaze working behind darkened circles to try and figure out just what he was seeing. There was Zee, looking as calm as ever.
But he was hurt. He was definitely hurt.
"What the ******** happened to you?" Well that was...comforting. As soon as the words were out of his mouth Demy was walking forward to get a better look.

"You have once again failed to slam the door..." He observed as though that were FAR more important than answering the rather direct statement that was sort of a question. "...And you need to sleep..." He added dryly, though he expected to be ignored on that front or argued with, sleeping via coma was NOT the same as getting a nights rest, and the dark circles spoke volumes about not sleeping. He sniffed and dabbed at the slightly bleeding lip again and stared at the tissue as though it had caused this offence. "It would appear I got into a fight..." He added casually and shifted to 'read his book' though he kept watching the other boy to see what he did.

"Sorry, I forgot." Whether that was directed at slamming the door or sleeping was anyone's guess.
Demy moved closer, chancing a spot on Zee's bed to sit and further inspect the other boy. At least he wasn't sitting on him and pinning him down to find out just what happened.
Yet.
"With who? You won, right? Or do I have to go beat the hell out of someone?"

He rested the book on his knees as though he were being EVER so patient and nodded looking very satisfied. "Oh yes... I won." He said with -the- most self satisfied smile that ever graced his face. He started to say something else and shook his head his face going serious again, all the pleasure fading out of it like someone had turned off the water.
"You should sleep." He said again and turned almost pointedly back to his book."

Demy was a bit taken aback by that smile. He couldn't remember Zee -ever- smiling like that. Ever. Not after a successful school related plan, not after a mission, not even after one of their dates.
Never.
And now, now that he was in some fight he was smiling like that? What the hell was going on? "I slept for a month, I can't sleep." A pause, long enough for him to wipe at his tired eyes. "You should clean up your face."

"I did..." He shot back tersely. Was it bad again? He'd washed it twice... hmph.
"You could sleep if you tried.. human minds -need- sleep, take some nyquil if you have to." He said glancing back at the tired that layered in Dem's eyes. "I don't think can't is the problem... but it's your call... if you go psycho I'll request that transfer to a single..." He humphed staring back at his book. It wasn't even as though he were reading it.
It was a nearly empty threat though, it carried none of his normal angry vehemence.

"If you request that transfer to a single I -will- go psycho..." He wasn't joking, there was quite the hint at hurt hidden in the tone and look Zee got at his reply.
"I can't sleep. I'm scared." The shorter boy was the only one he'd admit that to. New Demy was a tough Demy, a boy who continued to hold everything inside and now met the world with the toughest face he could manage. It was getting tougher by the day. But he was still scared.
"So...gonna tell me who you beat up?"

"I will only request one if you -DO-" He said pointedly and sighed... his face at least softened slightly at that hurt look.
"...what do you need, NOT to be scared..." He offered after a long pause of searching that sad face...that scared face. "And...you don't need to beat anyone up, the fight went -exactly- as I hoped it would... don't worry. Now...please tell me what...I can do to help you sleep."

"You hoped for a split lip and a worried boyfr---r-roommate?" He didn't know where they stood, and the last thing he wanted to do at this moment in time was annoy Zee with his word choice one way or the other. Hopefully he wouldn't question the choice of words, not today at least.
"I...I don't know. I'm scared of not waking back up. I can't do that again Zee I just can't. But how do you stop being scared of something like that? It was such a freak occurrence the first time around, there's no way to say if it'll ever happen again..." Demy scooted a bit closer, chancing the movement once again. "I just don't know..."

Was that a brief look of triumph in Zac's eyes or a trick of the light? He shifted on the bed, not so much to move away but making room. "LAY down... you stop being scared via exposure, they do treatment programs like that for phobias, try taking a nap for a few minutes, if you start looking like its an unnatural sleep I'll punch you in the arm repeatedly till you wake up... how does that sound?" He ignored the question about split lips, but he still looked at least slightly pleased about...
Something.

"...Did punching me in the arm repeatedly wake me up out of the -last- unnatural sleep?" That look...what was that -look-? Demy searched the other's eyes trying to understand just what was going on. But Zac was one of those unreadable people. Just when Demy thought he had him figured out, things changed, and he'd spend forever figuring him out again only to be thrown off track.
This time was no different.
The blonde scooted closer, eying the empty space beside the other boy but not moving to lay down just yet.

"Really I can't say." Zink said matter of factly... "I wasn't allowed, TEMPTING though the thought was..." He flashed a smile that was at once amused and ridged, it vanished as quickly, like a tide sweeping clean footprints in sand.
He heaved a sigh and closed the book to look more directly at Dem. "You look...rather as though you have a question and don't -quite- know how to phrase it...give me a word, let me see if I can guess what's on your mind. It's been harder and harder of late and that BOTHERS me to absolutely NO end. It's like Sherlock Holmes without Doctor Watson, or those insufferable episodes where Mycroft is supposed to have left his ever so comfortable chair in the Diogenes club...which at the outset of the series would NEVER have been done."

"..You honestly thought about punching your comatose friend in the arm? Sheesh Zee, just when I think I know a guy you pull THAT out..." He grinned for just a moment too, but it was gone as quickly as it had come.
..That bed really was looking comfortable, and it was -so- tempting to just snuggle up beside Zac and pass out. But he couldn't. Just...no. He was scared, and doing anything past a supershort catnap was a horrifying thought.
Demy looked up, trying to follow along with Zac's thoughts, which he -couldn't- of course but at least he tried. It was cute sometimes just how much he tried.
A word, huh? "...Us."

Zink pursed his lips and looked thoughtful, he didn't look angry this time at least, or irritated, just thoughtful. He handed over the well worn plush Panda Mister Tenebrous, a rare gift indeed and a soft and squishy one to boot before he answered. "To...paraphrase the mind of 'Dem'... " he started with that hint of a smile again...he continued, shifting his tone to something measured and even, relaxing.
"...You wonder where we stand I'd guess, how do I feel...maybe how do YOU feel. What are we to each other and where are we going." He paused and tilted his head.
"Though in turn I wonder...do you wonder about us...as Zac...and Demy, or do you wonder about us, as Scheelite...and Zinkenite. I'm not as good as to be able to infer that from 'us'...not just at the moment I'm afraid."
