I really don't like Christopher Hart's books or the man himself. He hires artists to do the illustrations for him, and he hardly compensates them for their time and effort. Besides being a scammer, his books are not very good and teach all sorts of bad habits.

Why would you encourage this man to keep ripping off other artists? :/

Wow. I'm surprised at you people. This girl is nice enough to share her excitement and all you do is shoot it down. It's ok to express your own opinions and all, but you don't have to stomp around on other peoples'. Perhaps your in the wrong space if you don't share the enthusiasm, and perhaps your critique would be better put to use elsewhere.

I'm sorry, but it's not a discussion if everyone is just saying nodding their heads in agreement. And simply because some of us have different opinions on the subject matter doesn't mean we're not allowed to express it.
And quite frankly, I think his books are terrible. He doesn't draw most of the artwork in those books, and his writing brings down the subject matter to the most demeaning way possible. Perhaps the OP is too young to see through this, but he basically tells people in his books that his way is the ONLY way to draw, when that is simply not true.
He's known as a cash cow among art communities. Fun for beginners, sure, but a man known to jump around bandwagons just to make a quick buck in the eyes of other artists.

oh yawn, I can't believe we've all stooped to arguing over a book. Let's get back to the art, shall we? (And I never said you couldn't express your opinions.)

The topic is on Christopher Hart's books. OP likes it, I don't. If you want to talk about something else, move on to another topic. I will lock this thread if this thread is derailed any further.
