It hadn't taken but moments for the Queen and all of the Negaverse - Lieutenants, Captains, Generals and youma - to appear in the subspace shortly after Zinkenite had slyly teleported out of the ballroom, crystal in hand. It was surprising, to say the least, but a few moments later and all parties were dismissed and forcefully removed from the subspace, leaving the dark Queen and the blue haired Captain alone with one another.
Alone...with the crystal.
The crimson jewel's powerful aura had waned, surprisingly, but the Queen remained confident in its abilities. Her smile was wide, wide and wicked as she approached the short boy, her staff gently clicking against the marble with every step.
"You have done well, Captain." Her voice lacked the pride the teenager probably desired, but it was praise nonetheless, "I expected nothing less from such a clever individual."
Merely feet away now, the injured hand cradled against her chest shifted to gesture at the jewel. The hand was covered in damp blood, from wrist to finger, shards of ice sticking out of her pale skin, evidence of the impact of Castor's attack. But her injury remained ignored. No, what mattered now was the crystal and dark eyes looked upon it eagerly as she stretched out her hand further, demanding the prize for herself.
"Do you even realize what you have, Zinkenite?"

Not so much pride in her words, but he still savored that praise like a man lost in the desert savors a few meager drops of water. It left him wanting more in much the same way, but he did not trust to dig for it here or from her. No...whatever praise he earned, would be freely given and taste all the sweeter for it.
He offered it up to her, a red gem to match her bloodied hand, though he did not dare touch her either, he let it fall as gently as he could into her waiting grasp.
"Followed your orders, my queen." He said very carefully, for all he knew he could be standing on dangerous ground, simply by not understanding the nature of that...magnificent crystal. Even as he released it his fingers still -itched- for it, that ....power that energy that coursed through him when he held it.

As quickly as it fell into her hand, it was snatched up. Fingers folded themselves over it, clutching tightly to the gem as though she refused to ever let go.
"I can't believe it....after all this time..."
The voice was hushed, distant. Her eyes had closed at some point and the Captain was forced to stand there, awkwardly, as his Queen appeared to be carried away by a memory.
Finally, her eyes once again opened and her clenched fist released its tight grip. The crimson beauty was lifted up for better inspection as she began to explain.
"What you have discovered, Captain, is none other than a fragment of one of the most powerful crystals in the galaxy."
Eyes shifted to meet his, as if expecting the awe and amazement to cross his face. She did not wait to continue. "A Rainbow Crystal. It's much smaller than they used to be, which tells me that there must be more out there than the original seven. It's imperative that we obtain them all."
Her hand lowered and closed again, the crystal tucked away safely in her grasp. "Once formed together...."
At that, she stopped entirely.
Something wasn't right.
Eyebrows furrowed as she released her staff, allowing it to float alongside her. With her newly freed hand, she moved the crystal, flipping it over in her open palm as if studying it for cracks.
"The power... but..."
The confused look faded as realization dawned across the Queen's face. Without hesitating, she reached out and yanked the Captain's hand, forcibly pulling it out in front of him. The crystal was shoved into his palm, both of her cold hands now gripping on his fingers and wrists.
What was discovered was nothing less than infuriating and long fingernails began to dig into his skin.
The red crystal's aura had grown stronger. When the crystal was removed from his hand, it immediately waned, growing significantly weaker. Once replaced into his possession, the power grew instantaneously.
"You...."
Despite her words being no more than a hiss, the fury of her tone was evident. It screamed of danger and as orange eyes glared into his, there was great reason for the Captain to fear for his life at that moment.
"It bonded to you?"

His eyes widened and he did his best not to cry out at the sharp dig of her fingernails that were inexorably leaving red crescents in his skin and that also felt as though she meant to dig them in far enough to peel the tendons out of his wrist one at a time as the rage in her face swelled.
"M...my queen, I never intended..." He said hurried and alarmed. She might very well kill him, she could without blinking...or bind him into crystal and call him a traitor for this. He had no idea even what he had done to 'bond' it to him.
"If there is some way to undo it..." He added hurried... sod the crystal, it didn't have enough power in it to save him from her fury, at least not that he was aware of. Almost unconsciously he leaned away, just slightly out of fear before stopping himself with the mentality that moving might add to her rage.

Narrowed eyes searched his and, after an agonizingly long moment, her hands released his.
His former leaders would have either taken the next moment to pinch the bridge of his nose or place a hand on her hip. Beryl, however, did nothing more than stare as she processed his words and the crystal's revelation in her head.
"No...no, even if I were to cut it off..."
Her hands returned to his, but instead of digging her long nails into his skin, she was gentle, abnormally gentle, as she examined both hand and crystal. Finally, a conclusion was made.
"I shouldn't be surprised - the Rainbow Crystals did this before, when they split." Eyes met with his once more as she explained, "When Serenity attacked my strongest youma, my Seven, the crystal broke apart and bonded with each of them, sealing them inside. They perished in the war, but both they and the shards were reborn here on Earth. The shards bond - that's what they do, until they can merge."
Bloody fingers folded over his hand, closing it on the crystal, tightening his own grip on it. "Until that time comes, only you will be able to harness this crystal's individual power."

Cut it off...
Even if it didn't seem like she was about to cut anything off those words were like a bolt of ice run up his spine. He was trembling as much as he tried to it. subdue it. He'd come very close do having his star seed ripped out just then...he was sure of it, and that was a best case situation.
Cut it off... he didn't even want to know what part she'd been considering, his hand... his -head-?
He glanced at the crystal again and back at her, part of him now wondered if HE would be 'sealed' inside this red stone as well, though he was not quite prepared to ask if that would happen, he was more focused on what she had just said...
"only he... "
"My Queen?" He said tentative, hoping that she might elaborate on what power he now held in his hand, what had he gotten into, and how deep was he?

"Zinkenite."
Their eyes met and she hesitated, then spoke:
"I will allow you to keep the shard - you have earned it, Zac."
Her hands were reluctant to leave his own, the hunger for the crystal's power still burning wildly in her eyes. But his hand was finally released and she moved to retrieve her floating staff, mauve skirts now trailing towards the throne beside where they stood.
"If the senshi were to obtain the crystal, it would be as worthless to them as it is to me. Nevertheless, it's vital that you keep the crystal with you at all times. Once all the pieces are collected, only then will the Negaverse be able to harness the true power those shards hold."
She took her seat upon the crystal throne, casting aside her staff. It froze where it was tossed, the ordinary looking mirror in its center now beginning to glow.
Leaning back, her injured hand moved to rest across her chest while the other took to the chair's arm, all the while her gaze refused to leave him.
"Do you understand me, Captain?"

His gaze danced nervously to that glowing mirror but he nodded, casting his eyes down in a show of respect, certainly not trust that he wasn't about to be fried. "Yes your highness, I am grateful for your generosity."
He wasn't sure what else to say or do, only to carefully curl his fingers back to close around that strange red stone. He would not lose it... but he did not trust others not to try and take it from him if only to deprive him of that power he felt running beneath his fingertips. It was a gracious and yet double edged reward she had given him.

"Good. Then there is nothing more to discuss. You will report to me if you notice any changes in the crystal. Do not force me to check in with you. You will not like the results."
Hundreds of red, green and yellow beady eyes began to appear from the shadows - the youma had returned to await their dark mistress, now that her private discussion was finished. Their gaze passed between her and the young boy, silent stares that watched every move, every sweat drop, every exhale. A single youma skulked out from its shadowy ranks and crept to her side. Her hand extended itself out and the monster's long, vile tongue reached out to lap at her injury, licking away the imbedded shards and dried blood.
"You are dismissed, Captain."
And with that, his presence was ignored, her head turning to stare at whatever (or, more scarily - whoever) she was watching in her mirror.

Zink Bowed again deeply, he did not waste time examining the masses of yoma that slithered, crept, crawled and oozed from every corner, if ever he might have believed that this places was made from them, rather than for them now would have been that moment.
He wasted no time in teleporting back to the relative safety of his own dorm room.
Changes in the crystal?... that sounded almost ominous in and of itself, but report he would, and wonder at whatever she watched in that twisted mirror.
