Melusine woke up as she usually did, hoping it had rained overnight. It never did, and she was always a little disappointed when it was as dry outside as it had been the night before. Giving a good shake, the lioness tip-toed from her den. She really didn't want to wake anyone up, but she was thirsty and required water. Well, that's what she'd tell if anyone happened by. Melusine really just wanted to dip her toes into the crisp water that the pride drank from. She'd love to dive into the water, but feared that she might get in trouble if she did so.
She crept stealthily from her den towards the drinking water, slinking low to the ground like a snake. That was fun to think about. Melusine the deadly cobra, slithering through the grass in order to take a morning sip of water to refresh her parched mouth. It became a game for the odd lioness as she zigged this way and that, slowly but surely making her way to the drinking water, oblivious to anyone or anything around her.
