I've been in another mood for EV training, and most of the pokes I'm working on have been Water type. Since the only WiFi I have access to is on PBR, I usually do the random 3v3 battles and I decided to make a 3 member all-Water team! Let's see how this works. So far, I have this:
Tentacruel
NN: Kulala
Nature: Bold
Item: Leftovers
EV: Max Def, 100 HP, 152 SDef
Moves:
Toxic Spikes
Rest
Protect
Surf
Strategy: Set up two layers of Toxic Spikes and Rest off the damage. If my opponent switches, I'll probably try to stall some by alternating between Rest and Protect to build up the poison damage, but I'm not sure how this will work.
Vaporeon
NN: Maestro
Nature: Quiet
Item: Leftovers
EV: Max HP, 100 Def, 152 SDef
Moves:
Acid Armor
Baton Pass
Protect
Surf
Strategy: The idea for Vaporeon here is to stall out some poison damage on my opponent while stacking Acid Armor to pass on to Gastrodon for intense tanking. Simple enough. *Shrug*
Gastrodon
NN: Sluggums
Nature: Calm
Item: Leftovers
EV: Max SDef, 100 Def, 152 HP
Moves:
Rain Dance
Recover
Surf
Earth Power
Strategy: Gastrodon's purpose here is to take hits like a champ while stalling for more poison damage on my opponent. He's also my switch in for Electric types that threaten my setup, killing them off with a nice STAB Earth Power. Recover is there if I need it.
I have a lot of worries for this team, but I'm not sure how to counter them. I know that a well placed Taunt will probably destroy me, which is making me consider having Starmie as an alternate:
Starmie
NN: Skittles
Nature: Timid
Item: Expert Belt
EV: Max Speed and SpAtt
Moves:
Grass Knot
Ice Beam
Psychic
Surf
Strategy: Starmie might make a decent switch in to kill off Taunters, but I'm not sure about this either. I'm actually thinking about switching out Grass Knot back to Thunderbolt, but I'm still on the fence about it. Grass Knot would be handy to take out pesky Mud (Water/Ground) types that like to hang around past their welcome, but... Eh, I just don't know.
