You hear the annoying hum of several pairs of tiny, beating wings. Turning towards the sound, you see a swarm of flies in the sky. Noticing they have your attention, they swoop down towards you in unison, stopping precisely twelve inches away from your face. Immediately they separate into small clusters, each collection of the flying insects zipping and buzzing to form words:
Swimmers can have their oceans. Runners can claim their grounds. Because WE own the skies. And we intend to show you WHY. When they feel satisfied you've read the first message, the flies rearrange themselves again to form the rest of the promotional ad:
Have wings? Have a form with wings? Have the ability to fly? Then the Freakuent Flyers want you! Sign ups and Try outs are at the Track Field. And yes, we have air clearance. I think.
By this point, the Track Team Captains had cleared the Track Field and made it usable. Much to Maritess' luck because it was spacious enough to hold try outs for the club she and Coralie had formed. There was plenty of airspace and adequate landing pads. She hoped they wouldn't get in the way of anyone's practice in the meantime.

ooc - The Freakuent Flyers is a synchronized flying club. Which means your student must have usable wings, or have a form with usable wings, or have the ability to fly. - Enrolled students only. But we do love you quest students! - Tess had been sending out FLY-ers promoting the tryouts and would have personally tried to recruit other students to join. - Please include the form when you make your first post. - This ORP thread will be open for one to two weeks. If you signed up your student in the interest thread and do not post here, your student will be removed from the list. - Feel free to PM me suggestions/ideas/questions.
Positions - Captain (Coralie) - Vice-Captain (available) - Choreographer (Lucien) - Uniform Coordinator (available) - Manager (Maritess)

Maritess is hovering beside a table that looked as if it had been dragged all the way from the nearest classroom. She doesn't look winded in the least. Maybe she got there really early and had more than enough time to set things up for the tryouts. On the table is a sheet of paper and some napping penstrictors as well as a couple of cans of amniotic cola (sorry, Tess didn't have enough time to get Haterade).
"Hi, I'm Maritess, the club's manager, but please call me Tess," she practiced, "I just need you to write down your information here," she gestured towards the pad and the penstrictors for what was the nth time that afternoon. Silently, she hoped there would be interested students and if there were, she hoped they wouldn't think she was undermining the Captain's authority in setting this up. Wasn't that what the managers do? Logistics and stuff?

Lucien was the first one there, in fact, he had been there long before Maritess had found her way to the field next to the table. He hadn't seen how it had gotten there. Lucien had just been tired. Classes, Track and Field, and laying on clouds really had been taking their toll. Taking a nap on a cloud was the solution and when he heard the voice of someone not too far down from his lazy position in the sky, Lucien peered over the edge of the cloud and looked down. Rejuvenated from his nap, Lucien remembered the flyers very clearly: Freakuent Flyers Try Outs.
He yawned and slowly sat up before pushing himself off his cloud and gliding down to the ground. He landed without much of a noise and with graceful steps he was off, bound and headed towards Maritess. He stood in front of her and as he went to speak, all that came out was a "Yuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnaahhhhhhh."
That wasn't what he meant to say at all. Well, maybe a little.

Tess fixed what she believed to be a most professional expression on her face when she saw Lucien arrive. She was about to go into her spiel when he, uh, did he try to say something and ended up yawning? She blinked, not quite certain what to make of it, and instead ended up reaching for the pad and a penstrictor. The writing device hissed in outrage in her grip but grudgingly allowed the winged vampire to offer it to the other student.
"Hi, I'm Maritess, the club's manager, but please call me Tess, I just need you to write down your information here," she sounded less confident than she had been moments ago. Focus, Tess, focus! You can do this!

Igneous stood on the edge of the track field and watched the aerial maneuverings. She gave a wistful sigh and kicked the pile of pumpkins at her feet, sending them scattering.
"Rats and three eyed cats!" she muttered as bent over to pick them up. Chip fluttered around her head, echoing the aerobatics going on above them. "Go on, Chip!" she waved a hand in irritation at her feathered friend.
She had come to the field to practice pumpkin throwing only to find it being used. So not only was she not going to get to practice but she had to watch all the... flying going on. She spread her own wings in reflex at the thought of flight - that elusive, dreadful dream of hers!

Lucien nodded to Maritess, shortly whispering "Tess" under his breath as he picked up one of the pen-strictors that she was offering, which really wasn't all that pleased about it. It squirmed and hissed from one hand to the other before calming down ever so slightly when Lucien gave it a good squeeze. It seemed to enjoy that, or at least Lucien seemed to think it did.
"I like to fly," he said, turning his head away from Maritess and onto the stone angel that had made her way to the field. Lucien recognized her, she was at the Track and Field try-out, trying to impale team mates with various hurling objects. After a moment, he turned his head back and filled out the paper for Maritess, clearly signing Choreographer on the paper.
"It's a pleasure," he said, no smile to be found on his face.

"Some Cap'n! Pay'n as much 'ttention as a bee ta weeds! I thought ya liked fly'n? Hopeless gal!" Complained Wilfred vocally from Caralie's head. How he had the guts to do so when she was darting through the air like an arrow on her broom was a bit of mystery; usually flight was the only time Wilfred was quiet, for fear of being thrown off somewhere.
But Coralie was focusing, strangely enough, and perhaps he sensed that. She had been serious enough to not bring Luka along and now she was taking the most direct path across campus to the track and field where, well, she should have been to begin with. When she spotted the table she jerked her broom back a bit and immediately let it plummet straight down perpendicular to the ground. When she was a few feet away, in a rush of air, she brought her broom to a slow, sinking hover and allowed herself to ease her feet into the grass. With one motion she hopped off her broom and brought it up into her right hand.
"Sorry, Tess," Coralie said, looking genuinely apologetic, "Should have been here sooner. I didn't know you were doing it today." After going over to stand at the other girl's side she turned her head over to see Lucien and quirked a brown, dawning a more typical amused expression, "We have a recruit already?"

Maritess was grinning now that there were more students at the signups. "I love flying myself," she says, eyes darting to the paper and reading "Lucien. Oh! You're on track and field too! So am I!" she wished she had been at the tryouts but she wasn't entirely certain what use she would have been.
When he turned towards the stone angel, Tess was about to fly to her when Coralie arrived. "O-oh! I'm sorry!" she apologized, looking embarrassed. She'd been so busy trying to get other students informed, she completely forgot to tell the Captain! What is wrong with you, Tess? She seems to be doing a lot of apologizing since she got to school. Old habits die hard, she supposed. "I thought you would have seen the flyers. Y-yes, we have an applicant!" she excitedly gestured to Lucien, "And he wants to be a choreographer, too! And I think we have another potential applicant over there!" she declared, excusing herself to fly towards the winged student that had appeared.
Maritess was secretly hoping the other ghoul would join. It would be nice to not be the only winged student in the club.

Iggy found herself mesmerized by the other students zipping about. Oh the freedom of movement they had! She finished stacking up the practice pumpkins and whistled for Chip, who had been waiting for her on a nearby post. The pigeon gave her a glare before pointedly turning his back. "I'm sorry, Chip. C'mon, let's go back to the dorms. I'll share some cookies with you. "
With a chirrup the pigeon accepted her apology (he did love her after all) and he swooped over to his favorite perch on her wing.
No sooner had he settled than he took off again with a squawk of alarm. Igneous turned to see where he was off to only to see another student approaching them. It was one of the flyers... one without legs?

Julian walked up to the table with the sign-ups for the synchronized flying club. He had seen the advertisements for it and thought it might be a way to get some exercise and learn how to fly better than he did. He showed up just as the legless, winged ghoul left the table, leaving only a boil he didn't know and...
"Hi Coralie," he said, his hands in the pockets of his pants. For once, all his books were in a black backpack that was slung over one shoulder. He gave her one of his nervous smiles as he stopped beside the ghost and looked at the sign-up sheet. So far it looked like the other boil was the only one involved, besides Cora and the legless girl. He carefully took one of the more docile penstrictors and scrawled his information down to join the club, or to at least show his interest in trying to be on the team.

Tess flew faster when it seemed like the stone angel student was going to leave. "Wait! Don't go!" she exclaimed, holding out a sheet of paper with one hand and a penstrictor with the other. "You have wings! Wouldn't you like to try out?" she added managing to catch up to the other ghoul.

Lucien stared at Maritess, thinking back for a moment. He didn't recognized her, she wasn't at try-outs? Maybe he missed her or just forgot. Considering this, he found himself scratching his head a bit. "Oh, what do you do?" He asked her before he looked to Coralie who had a talking hat shouting off her head. He didn't say anything, rather, he couldn't think of anything to say about that. It was just weird.
Lucien watched quietly as a new winged creature joined. He didn't know him, and he gave him a single greeting with a hand gesture before he watched as Maritess rushed off to try and keep the stoned creature from leaving. He wondered, could stone wings fly? Stone was usually heavy wasn't it? Lucien couldn't imagine, but he could feel how painful it must be to have wings and not be able to use them to glide in the sky.

Trying out for this club had seemed like the logical thing, as far as Morton was concerned. The school pretty much required it's students to engage in... extracurricular activities, and if he was going to be stuck in a club, the gargoyle had decided he wanted to be stuck doing something he was either good at, or really enjoyed.
He wasn't half bad at flight and while he did, in fact, enjoy it, he also enjoyed napping under the sun on the roof of his dorm room. Something told him that there were absolutely no clubs that promoted napping, so he'd chosen the next best thing that came to mind. Upon spotting Julian and Coralie, he snorted, "We keep running into eachother - maybe we're not all that different after all," he scribbled his information down on one of the sheets of paper and placed it on the table, turning his head to watch the half/bodied girl... persecute another student.
Swiftly deciding it was none of his business (even if it WAS interesting - was that other student also a gargoyle?), he turned his attention back to the group around him.

Igneous turned at Tess' call. She sighed as in the background she could see even more students arrive to flit about. Her eyes widened at the latest arrival - was that boy also made of stone? How could he fly if he was only stone and bone like that? She shook her head to clear it of the thought and turned to the half-girl who had caught up with her.
She ignored the paper and penstrictor ad shook her head. "No, no I can't join your club. I have these things," and she lifted her wings slightly, "but they are useless to me. I can't fly - my weight is too much. No flying magic, nothing special here - just a chunk of stone with useless wings."
