Slowly, slowly, Rat peeked around the edge of one of the junk piles that filed the yard she called home. Carefully she eased past the remnants of old furniture and used cars, her last meal a vague memory to her mind and her stomach, which had started growling again recently. She was going to need to leave this safe haven for another meal hunt soon, which always made her a little scared, a little more afraid of being caught, but she had to eat, and that was that.
Her ears pricked as she heard noises coming from another section of the junkyard, a section where sounds shouldn't be coming from. Someone was here with her!
Hastily, she climbed to the top of the nearest junk pile, snagging her tail on the way and letting out a squeak of pain. Once she got to the top, she peeked over it and stared down, another squeak escaping her - this one of surprise.
Only one thought remained in her head as she scrabbled for hand and footholds and all but fell down the pie of junk in the effort to reach her new favorite thing in the entire world, and only one word escaped her mouth.
"Shiiiiiinyyyyy!"

Gera as of late had been craving metals...more so than normal. It was getting to the point where if he wasn't careful he'd absorb things without even realizing it. It was becoming a dangerous thing as well his Aunt Trin wasn't exactly thrilled to find one of her camera's missing....
So Gera not wanting to steal had come to the scrap yard...everything here wasn't wanted right? His large bulky form was going through hand outstretched to touch various pieces of metal allowing them to absorbed into his body.
He half turned when he heard and caught out of the corner of his eyes a figure. Shiney? The golem boy turned to look at the girl, he...thought it was a girl.
Analyzing target....
"Shhhs..." He muttered to himself, ignoring that inner voice that liked to try and take ahold of situations.
"Are you alright?" He asked the girl instead.

Rat scrambled to her feet and stared at the shiny-person standing in front of her. She'd never seen a shiny-person before, though she really didn't spend much time around people anyway. Usually her encounters with people started with them screaming her name and running away, though there had been this one time when an old lady decided to beat her over the head with a broom until she'd left the house she was in... but still, none of them had been shiny!
And oh, he was asking her... something? She wasn't used to being talked to, so she twitched her ears and listened closely to what he was saying. He was... worried about her? Because she fell? How silly, Rat fell all of the time! She could tell that a reply was expected, but she wasn't used to talking; she knew enough words to tak to herself, but since she'd never had to have a conversation with someone before. Frowning, she tried to remember the word he had used, and then nodded.
"Rat is... alright. Fall all the time!" she said, relieved that her sentence had gotten out clearly. She had been half afraid it would fall apart on her. Who knew people had to use so many words when talking to each other?
"Shiny-person... why here? This Rat's place," the rodent-like teenager said, nearly doing an internal cheer because she was actually making sense - she had managed to get those stupid words to fall together in a way that someone other than her might understand! She wasn't... what was it, "dumb"? She just never had anyone to talk to but herself, so she wasn't used to all of the rules of words and talking.

The golem boy looked to the rat girl and realized she was labeling herself as Rat. Well he supposed that made sense...even if he was a golem though he didn't go around calling himself Golem... maybe he was thinking too much.
Destroy her...
Gera ignored the voice, turning to face the girl fully, he was rather heavily armored with no battle to go to, but he did glow nicelyl...
Still getting use to having expressions and emotions he felt his face betray his surprise. She lived here? This was her home? His face wilted for this meant he had been stealing her things.
"I did not know..anyone lived here...I am sorry, I will return your things.." He struggled to remember what exactly he had been absorbing for unless he could bring it to mind he wouldn't be able to bring it back.

Rat shook her head. These weren't her things - did he not realize that. She frowned and thought, reaching a hand out and touching a piece of... something that was shiny, like shiny-person.
"Not Rat's," she said, trying to explain with her limited knowledge of words. "Rat's place, not things. Things go, things come - not Rat's," the teenager added, tail twitching as she stared at the shiny-person, praying he understood her. She liked this shiny-person!
"Shiny-person... take food? Yes? Shiny food?" That's what he was needing, right? Shiny people needed shiny food? That had to be it, she just knew it... "Take lots, lots shiny food for shiny-person!"

A wave of relief washed across his face, so this stuff didn't belong to Rat? That was good. No great! He felt that gnawing hunger that demanded he consume more metal.
"Th..thank you." He replied finally as he went to reach for a golf club sticking out of the mount and it grew hot and then absorbed into his body. He continued to move about 'eating' what he could find before he finally paused. He was being rude again wasn't he?
"Does Rat not eat this too? Is Rat hungry?" He inquired with a tilt of his head. He felt bad, after all here he was stuffing himself and Rat was sitting there watching him.

Rat grinned. Oh, now he was making perfect sense! At the shiny-person's question, she nodded eagerly. "Rat always hungry, don't eat shiny things though, all for shiny-person!" She looked around, sniffing at the air, and then dove for one of the junk piles, eventually sorting out a half-rotted sub sandwich that had gotten thrown in there who-knew-when. "Food! See? This Rat's food!" Was she getting her point across? She hoped so, but she had no way of knowing.
Ugh, if only she knew more words! But to learn more words she'd have to talk to more people, and talking to people meant she'd get hit with brooms or something that hurt more. Or people would run and scream. It wasn't really fair, but she'd grown up with unfairness ruling her life, so it wasn't a big deal at all. As long as she could keep finding food and stay alive, that was all that mattered.
People, shiny or not, didn't matter in the long run, right?

Gera watched the girl , he was about to say something when she dove into the trash and came back out holding something that didn't look edible. Even by his standards. He stood there wondering if he should say something.
Filthy creature..
She was a bit dirty, but she wasn't filthy. Okay maybe she was filthy but that didn't bother Gera any. He moved to sit down he had picked up a can and it heated up in his hand and then absorbed into his hand.
"We can eat together then?" He inquired still feeling bad for the girl. He wondered if he had any coins still left in his system ...from the time he helped Ryuu a bit too much with gathering money.
Thinking on it he knew the answer was no. So he ate another can and there was a part of him who paused as he had reached for a pop can.
"You can get money for these.." he murmured holding the pop can up for Rat to see.
