Fayalite on a rare note of feeling social, decided to go out and collect some starseeds. What did being social have to do with collecting? Everything! Going out to the local clubs usually worked. Heck in her current gear she could probably get into some sort of steampunk convention and theyd think it was all her costume... blending in was the key to collections. Blending in was easier for them, most of their clothing was at least SEMI normal. Better than the frufru skirts of the senshi, they stuck out like a sore thumb.

No... the negaverse blended in. It was like a war with the home field advantage. The negaverse belonged, the senshi did not.

She jingled her pocket a few times with her new found star seeds. She chose to collect in a remote area of town, where it was common to find bodies in dumpsters....lucky for her.

There were much bigger threats than Fayalite prowling the streets tonight, but it seemed as though they were drawn to similar locations. Perhaps he'd sensed her and had decided to move in--or maybe she had been an afterthought when he'd already arrived. It was hard to say. Still, the General was silently making his way closer to the Lieutenant, though their last meeting had hardly gone smoothly.

"Lieutenant." He noted simply and seemed content to simply pass her by. ...Was that it? Seemed to be. He had nothing to say, and not to Fayalite especially. So long as she was doing her job (and she was, from the sound of that jingling pocket), Obsidian hardly felt a pressing desire to interject.

A while ago, maybe. Not anymore.

"General?" Was all she managed to say, looking up and catching the eyes of Obsidians with her own. She had not seen Obsidian since their last meet up... her intro to Negaverse 101. She had heard rumors about the man, mostly about him being promoted. Seems at least those rumors were right... or he enjoyed changing his clothing to confused people. She was suddenly glad that she didnt call him 'captain', she had a feeling a sword to the gut wouldn't have been too pleasant.

Fayalite was also surprised he didn't call her that annoying nickname she hated.

"...What no hi? " She tacked on, placing a hand on her hip and thinking that maybe... just maybe she would have gotten a hello. As it stood, she felt more like saluting the man as he walked past than chatting. While that would have been fine and dandy, she chose to press on a little more.

"... Why the sudden hair style change?" She almost hadn't realized it was him, if not for his voice he could have strolled right past her.

Little Miss Badass. He remembered. To be told, she still somewhat played the part, but didn't they all once they gained that first taste of power? He had. Her request for a greeting did earn a pause from the taller man, though the look he gave her suggested that 'Lieutenant' was as much of a hello as she was going to get.

"It was time for a change." He said mildly at the question, and that seemed to be that. He had no inclination to divulge any further information to a Lieutenant; personal lives and the Negaverse were kept separate now. It was easier that way, for everyone.

"Have you been productive?" Obsidian inquired, not above nailing her on wasting time chattering if she could better be focusing her attention on gathering starseeds.

'Little miss badass' averted her gaze as Obsidian gave her that look that would scare the eggs out of any chicken. Fayalite knew her place in the Negaverse, she was on the bottom of the totem pole and like a wolf pack... she knew her place. He was clearly one of the alphas/Beta's of the negaverse, she might not be a 'omega' personality but she sure as hell at the moment was no alpha.

"Really random thing to change, i mean you did rank into general. Do all generals have a shirt hair quota or something?" She wondered if their was more to it than that. Fayalite figured it was a stupid question but he WAS the first general she caught the eyes of. Maybe it was some weird initiation thing.

At the question Fayalite pulled out a hand full of starseeds, maybe four or five in her palm and a few more in her pocket from the glow they were giving off. "Just a little." She pocketed them again, she had been collecting for a few hours now and planning on heading home soon after she dropped them off at the 'star seed bank'.

"...Something about you seems different, General." Always using their titles the words slipped out of her mouth before she realized it. Her eyebrows drew together as she looked up once again at him, curiosity telling her to keep pressing... even if he wouldn't like it. "Were you always this Cold? I remember you being more.......alive?" Oh yeah she had a feeling her mouth was going to get her into trouble this time.

It seemed that the both of them had gone through some changes in their own, separate ways; last he recalled, Lieutenant Fayalite would have rather eaten dirt than so easily accept her lower ranking. A brow quirked at her continued comments, and his lips may have thinned, but no palpable irritation had entered his voice quite yet. "I don't believe it's any concern of yours, Lieutenant. What I do with my personal time is just that; personal."

His gaze quickly flickered over the seeds she had captured, and Obsidian had seemingly deemed it passable. It wasn't easy, hiding so many bodies in one night, and he may have shifted his gaze to a nearby dumpster as though considering.

"I believe that would be my new ranking that makes a difference, Lieutenant." Well, there was a shadow of the old Obsidian; he was lightly admonishing her in a condescending sort of way.

"Life only has as much value as you invest into it," He continued after a moment, almost absently. "When those investments die, sometimes it's easier to simply let go than rebuild." A simple, careless shrug.

A body or two were scattered around the area if Obby REALLY wanted to look for them... But fayalite was not stupid enough to put all of them into one, that would have been suicide. "No theirs no body in that dumpster." She saw his gaze go towards it, though she conveniently mentioned only THAT one being empty.

"Your rank is partially who you are, you deserve it." She shrugged, she complimented him but she knew he probably would disreguard it. "Even if you invest your whole being into your life, sometimes things just happen that you cannot control." Her eyes seemed to go out of focus for a moment. "Shutting yourself off from the world when you lose something you care for, in the long run, will turn you into something you dont want to be." She would know.

No body in that particular dumpster, hm? He looked amused, if only for a moment, but the expression soon faded from his gaze as he focused on her once more.

"We're all already something we don't want to be." Said the General. "Some of us voluntarily chose to step away from humanity. Others were forced. No matter the story, everyone damns themselves at one point or another. The question is, do you fight for something that is worth caring about? Is that enough to redeem a monster into a man?"

Obsidian stepped closer still, now looking down at the young woman without a trace of emotion on his face. "Do you hold the answer to that riddle, Fayalite? Or are you fumbling around like the rest of us, and hoping you won't fall off the path?"

Something he could not control... Nikki's death, and Ursula's. All the power in the world hadn't been able to stop those deaths. Or would it? Had he been strong enough to stop Beryl, stop the Senshi... would that have really altered the outcome?

With a sigh, the man only shook his head. "Awareness is the first, painful step. Changing yourself is something entirely harder."

She resisted the urge to step back as he stepped forward. This man was clearly one with power inside him and while afraid of it she too respected that power. Yeah when she first joined she was a snippy little teenage twit whom didnt know her place... but as the saying goes. Beat me once, shame on you... beat me twice, learn your damn place. Or something like that.

"May as that be, are we truly something we do not want to be? We are still living are we not, trying to get by pass this day by day? Their is always room for self improvement, working down a path. You would think if someone was truly unhappy we would not grasp for life so much as we do." Or is that just a show of cowardice? They really did not have a 'back out' clause when they went to the negaverse... it was like the mafia. Your either with them or against them and if it was the latter, you had a death wish.

"I only know my own personal answer to that question, General."

Fayalite looked up for a moment into Obsidians eyes again, this time meeting them and keeping them. She too was searching for answers, but she found her ultimate peace eventually. "I was searching for that answer since i was abandoned as a child. When you have oh, Twelve years of wondering why everyone you knew around you keeps dying... you start to wonder and eventually learn to accept it and move on." Fayalite probably just revealed a little more about herself than she was meaning to, but when you have a General looming over you sometimes you said things before you realized them. She was forever alone up until the negaverse, and only then did things start to go her way. She had a captain.. a team... and a life to dedicate to the negaverse. Thats what her meaning was for now. Even if her original reasons for joining were on the same subject... its a stupid childish thought to think if she wasn't human, she would be closer to her lost family.

It was a continuous struggle; to that regard, the man would give her credit. Living... He could see no honor in giving up entirely on life, although it held very little meaning for him at this current moment. What would his death accomplish? There was no Heaven for him to see Nikki again, and, truthfully, he didn't believe in a Hell, either. It would all go to waste.

The General was quiet for a long time as he pondered over that, a hand briefly brushing his hair out of his face.

So she had nothing to live for, previously, and now he was in her shoes at a much later date in time. Time again, always time; would he never be free of waiting? Forward was the only path to take--but he didn't need Fayalite to tell him that.

"Keep those thoughts close, Lieutenant." He finally said, looking back to her again. "Self-doubts will drag you down, here." And those who had doubts never survived long in the Negaverse. Perhaps it was luck that had only enabled his to surface now, instead of long ago.

She wanted to fidget, the quiet was too long for her. Making her not that relaxed and uncomfortable. Had she said the wrong thing? She had jsut given a piece of herself that she told NO one out.... absolutely no one knew what happened to her parents. Then again, she didn't really specify who she had lost... but it was implied. Well, s**t.

Not able to not fidget anymore she shifted positions and had to stop herself again from stepping back before realizing it. Fayalite was also playing with her gloves... a response that was common when under pressure.

Oh she knew to keep them close, she sure as hell was not showing weakness in this department. "Ive moved on, looked towards the future. Sure the past still hurts at times but, whos doesnt? We all have our own monsters in our past. I think the hardest thing to get over was telling myself it wasn't my fault." Fayalite shrugged.

"... You know general. Things might suck at times, but if you really needed someone to talk to, ask ok? While you might try and keep your civilian life and your negaverse life separate... they are connected. Sometimes just having an ear is enough." She shrugged. "Take it from someone with experience not having someone there to talk with, it sucks."
