Magic Types
• Seal Forming Magic
• Through a combination of channeling ki, then using hand seals to give shape and manifestation, a caster is able to do a variety of things. They can channel an element into an attack, with shape and effect of the caster's choosing. They can alter time and space in ways such as teleportation, and influence living things around them with illusions. The seals do not need to be formed by hand; some use drawn seals to be placed on a surface or object, or on scrolls and parchments.
• Weapon Projection Magic
• Similar to seal forming, weapon projection first involves channeling ki; however, instead of using seals to give the magic form and purpose, the chi is channeled into a chosen weapon. The effects it can place on the weapon vary from incredible cutting power or durability, to boomerang effects, to adding the effects of elements. It can cause the weapon to change forms in battle, reacting to the thought's of the caster. With this style, even an object not commonly thought of as a weapon can be used to deadly effect.
• Soul Magic
• Instead of channeling inner ki, Soul Magic instead draws energy from the spirit world of Lunaria to provide magical effects. This allows them to commune with souls of the recently deceased, to exorcise evil spirits, and in certain cases, look into the souls of other living Lunarians. They can even use this magic to enhance the souls of others, allowing them to recover from fatigue and injury at a faster rate. Users of Soul Magic can also call upon and employ familiar spirits to aid and protect them if needed.
• Living Souls
• This sub-category of soul-enhancing magic is often used by those conduits who specialize in living, or 'anchored' souls. Those specializing in this art may only 'sense' or hear souls that have lose their mortal bodies and are trying to pass on, but may not see them or have much or any association with them.
• 'Living soul' conduits are able to dissect or manipulate any mortally bound soul by extending their own spirit through 'threads' or other means in other to form or extract the piece of their opponent's soul.
Ex. A living soul conduit may wish to pull out one living soul's 'inner child' or 'dark side' to
converse or enhance them.
• Living soul conduits may bless or enhance another's soul.
• Before becoming a priest, living soul conduits will only be able to
extract a soul out half-way and must maintain physical contact with the soul for the duration of
the time. Also, un-tested soul conduits may only be able to extract the 'impure' form of one's
soul, which means the mortal's soul will keep their mortal attitude, while priests may extract a
'purified' soul, in which the mortal will not remember the experience and the soul will speak
without bias influence of a mortal mind.
(This means, before the test to become a priest the soul conduits who do this, when pulling out a soul, can just….pull out a soul that sounds just like the person before but the body can't move, it's pretty much a meat suit. However, after becoming a priest, they can pull out….the soul in a 'pure' version that won't have a shitty attitude or worldly attachments/grudges.)
• Dead Souls
• This sub-category of soul-enhancing magic is often used by those conduits who specialize in dead or 'unanchored' souls. Those specializing in this art can see and speak to the lingering spirits around the world but can only vaguely connect or see the souls of a living thing.
• Dead soul conduits tend to befriend spirits that would otherwise turn evil or vengeful. They do not trap them or enslave them. These spirits have different levels of difficulties to tame which is why the training is so intense. One may become possessed if dealing with an extremely strong spirit and too little willpower. A spirit may have a connection with an object or a soul conduit may use an item to focus their energy into.
• 'Dead soul' conduits may act as mediums for restless spirits and may even choose to extend their powers to help troublesome spirits pass on. 'Dead soul' conduits may access memories of a spirit's past life and/or adopt their strengths and powers momentarily.
• Before becoming priests, dead soul conduits may only speak and hear dead spirits and are unable to see them at all. This gives them the illusion of being 'crazy' or 'odd'.
• Priests may attract souls which reform into butterflies and follow, acting as 'familiars' or 'power sources'.
• Dead Soul conduits and/or priests often give off a 'cold' atmosphere depending on how powerful they are.
• As general rules known to anyone who would choose to become a soul conduit:
• A soul conduit may never destroy a soul.
• Soul conduits are generally religious although there are, of course, a few exceptions among them
• All soul conduits possess the ability to manipulate and enhance souls as well as 'heal' or 'channel' their own, or other souls.
• Ex. Using their soul to patch up their injuries or others'.
• Soul manipulation requires intense discipline and is incredibly draining at any level of expertise. Over time, a soul conduit may build more resistance to fatigue but it goes without saying that soul linking is nearly impossible to be used consecutively.
