This prompt is the big group activity for the week. Everyone is encouraged to throw a pet - or more than one - into the fray. The more, the merrier! There will only be one of these each week, led by Lumi.
Posts will go in this thread, after Lumi gets things rolling. There'll be a new thread each week. This week's prompt It seems as though Ms. Elizabeth Swann has gotten herself into a predicament of sorts! The Park Ranger left some deeeelcious chocolate cake out on her counter and Ms. Swann couldn't resist it. She craftily snuck in through an open window to steal the cake - she is the Pirate King, after all! Unfortunately for the Pirate King, she's a little ... hippier than usual. Those pregnancy pounds from her last litter haven't quite been shed yet. On her way out of the Ranger Station, Ms. Swann got stuck in the window! =O Now others from the Oasis are gathering around the Ranger Station to try to help. Or to point and giggle. Will they get her out before the Ranger gets back??

The Ranger shuffled out of her station, looking quite pleased with herself. She'd just taken a delicious chocolate cake out of the oven to cool. By the time she came back from her patrol, there'd be some tasty cake to frost and eat. Mmmmm!
Unfortunately for the Ranger, a crafty otter was skulking around nearby. Perhaps one of the craftiest otters, in fact - she had once been elected King of Pirates!
King or no, though, she found herself in a rather sticky situation a few minutes later, as for some reason, the window was a lot bigger on the way in than it was on the way out.
Anyone passing the Ranger's station would see the stately otter hanging out of the window, wriggling around and trying to get free.

Unfortunately for Ms. Swann, one of the first otters to wander past was her great-granddaughter. She tilted her head, red wavy hair falling to one side over her shoulder, and gazed up at Elizabeth in the window. "Grandma-ma?"

As Moonglow strode along, glad to be away from the rambunctious blue pygmies she lived with, she couldn't help but notice the commotion near the ranger's station. Ordinarily, she avoided the human dwelling, but something seemed wrong. Walking slowly up to the small otter outside the building, she looked up at the one in the window. She'd never seen either them before, but then again, there were many strange otters on the reserve she'd never met. These were the sort who dressed themselves up, and they did seem to know each other. "Oh- oh my," she said softly to the younger one on the ground. "Does... does she need help?"

This wasn't how her day was supposed to be!! She knew she had packed on a few and her pants and jacket were tighter then they usually were on her usually slim frame, but she had chalked up the added weight to winter settling in AND just giving birth to her three new pups. Oh they were safe, Hector was on clam watch today and Cornelius was over as well, visiting and inspecting his younger siblings.
But who cared about that, how in the world did she get into this embarrassing position and how was she supposed to get out now?! She was the Pirate King, Pirate Kings didn't get wedged in windows! And Pirate Kings weren't fat! She supposed it wasn't too bad, the Ranger wasn't here, neither was her human or anyone from her family.
Oops, spoke too soon! Hearing 'Grandma-ma', she lifted up her head and sure enough, there was a hair full of red hair and her great-granddaughter, sitting there. "H-hello dear! It's been so long since I have seen you, you've gotten so big!" she said, as if trying to play off the fact she was stuck due to her...fat fur! Of course she felt herself blush in embarrassment when another otter showed up, a female as big as her.

Selene had been taking a nap when beneath the lids of her eyes colorful visions had begun to form and swirl and pulse. She hadn't seen much and thought much of it had faded into loose strands of fog-covered memories--the building had been quite clear. Possibly because she had seen it before. She stood in front of it now, magenta eyes staring straight into the air before it until she seemed to be looking through the building. From the angle she currently had, she saw nothing, but intuition told her there was something here. She walked, rather than floated like her mother might, around until she found the small grouping of otters. After staring at each of them for a moment, allowing her to make sure there was no threat from them, she turned her attention to the stuck pirate lord. She was a very lovely female and everything seemed to point that this had never happened before. Something had changed--not the window, the female's shape. "Hum," she murmured in thought. She seemed to slowly come to some sort of conclusion before settling herself. "Hello," was all she said, a soft melodic whisper of air.

"Lookit that!" The first voice to come from the duo was just shy of being completely obnoxious. The small critter pointed a claw in the direction of the window and cackled gleefully. The mini was just that, small even for his type. His bright colors caused him to be easy to spot, unlike the brown otter he stood beside.
"She done got herself stuck like a rat inna trap, ranger's gonna be damned mad later, eh? Heeeheeheeheeheeeheeeeee!"
"Shut yer trap!" Clarence popped the smaller otter upside the head, though none too hard, just enough to firmly enforce the fact that he was in charge, despite having been a mini once, himself. That seemed like ages ago and he was still getting used to being so much larger than he had been for many seasons.
"Y'gonna get us seen, y'miserable lil' wretch. Y'don' keep yer yap shut I'm gonna toss ya in that there station t' let the ranger deal wi'd ya, ya got me?" Despite his words, he was grinning goofily, enjoying the misfortune of the other otter. It wasn't like him to want to help and, truth be told, he didn't. Unfortunately, Ankle Biter was loud enough to draw attention to their hiding place amongst the bushes, so there was little point in remaining there. He pushed the mini out ahead and plodded towards the window, where others were gathering.

Sybil was off on her own, wandering the reserve sticking to the shadows, and enjoying the peaceful silence being away from the river dens. Much to the way she preferred things. Soon she found herself near the park ranger's cabin and from the shadows she could see that there seemed to be a small gathering of otters forming. This in itself she found rather odd. Moving a bit closer to the group, she stuck to the shadows to get a closer look at the situation. It was then that she noticed the female otter in the window, whom also seemed to appear stuck there. Though she hadn't spent much time around her family, she did vaguely recognize the female as one of her mothers friends. Curiosity getting the better of her Sybil flew out from the shadows and over to the window to further analyze the situation.

Jessamine sat down in front of her great-grandmother in the window and rubbed her nose with one paw. "It has been a while, yes. I've been living on the other side of the reserve, lately."
She glanced up at Moonglow when the bigger otter appeared and shrugged a bit at her question, then looked back up at Elizabeth. "I'm not sure. What are you doing up there, Grandma-ma?"

Damshe Ralke had never been to the Reserve before but that didn't worry him. He knew how to handle things out in the wilderness and always enjoyed a good hike through beautiful nature. His goal was to locate the Park Ranger's station, a reasonable sounding way to start his first trip here.
After a few hours of wandering, he finally found it. However, he was quite surprised at its current condition. That is to say, he hadn't expected a group of otters to be surrounding it, with one apparently stuck in the window.
Damshe halted a few yards away from the small group. It appeared to him that he was the only human present and he wasn't sure that the otters would appreciate his intrusion. So, he decided to watch and wait for now. Though, the urge to help was there...

Lizzy glared and frowned when she heard the cackle of laughter. Oh yes, laugh it up...but you wouldn't be able to run far after she was free, besides, all the running would help shed those unwanted pounds!
She sighed a bit and looked down at the slowly growing group, and blinked when she saw...was that a human?! Oh geez, how much worse could this situation get?!
"I don't really think it is...pertinent on how I got up here dear, I think we should concentrate on getting me out! Your Grandfather will start to worry." she said, trying to get her to focus.

She felt, rather than saw or heard, the presence of the human. She twitched her ears back, concentrating on it for a moment, before turning her attention back to the otter in a rather sticky situation. Intuition told her the human meant no harm--wanted to help really, but she wasn't about to alert anyone to his presence. She would, as she often chose to do, let others figure it out for themselves. If asked, she'd be truthful, but there was no sense telling them now.
Selene wished one of her siblings or mother would wander by, perhaps their telekinetic abilities could be of use. She had never quite managed to reach much potential in that department. She could lift rocks and sometimes a mini or rabbit but she'd never attempted large things. Even small things sometimes had a habit of crashing down, and she didn't want to hurt someone. She was sure any telekinetic poking or prodding or pushing she did wouldn't do good at all.
"Hum," she murmured--a habit that seemed to be her way of telling others she would say something soon--staring at the window. "You can't go back?" A rather obvious idea, really, but best to get the obvious out of the way.

So the otter in the window was the littler female's grandmother. Hmm. Interesting. However, this wasn't half as interesting as the newest arrival- a human. That wasn't the ranger- what was it doing here? Alarmed, Moonglow took a step back to get a better look at it. So very tall... with much shorter hair than the Ranger. Was he a friend of hers? She wasn't sure, but she surmised he wasn't. After all, if he'd been a friend of the Ranger, then why wasn't she here with him? Perhaps, though, he could be helpful. "Excuse me," she called up to the femme in the window. "But maybe this human could help. He's got thumbs. He could get the window open, if we could figure out how to communicate with him."

Jess tilted her head again. "Trying to back up is a good idea, although then Grandma-ma might be stuck inside, instead." She glanced over toward the human who'd arrived on the scene when Moonglow pointed him out. "Or perhaps, if she did get stuck inside, he could operate the door, like the ranger does.
"But ... we'd need someone who speaks human." She crinkled her nose and looked back at the rest of the group. "Do we know someone who speaks human?"

The pair seemed much less inclined to cause trouble when the human appeared. In fact, both seemed to be much more inclined to approach the forming group of otters. Whether it meant harm or not, Clarence held a distinct distrust for just about anything larger than himself, especially flabby, furless, clothes wearing things. The dark brown otter slipped amongst the group as if he had been there and his noisy little miniature friend seemed almost too afraid to speak, hiding behind the larger otter's paws.
"I don't speak it, nope~ What otter in 'is right mind would wanna, y'know? They're pretty dangerous, humans. What with their guns and their cars and their televisions and their hamburgers and their scrunchies and their-" He gave a growl and glared at the small critter that was biting his hind paw.
"I think they got et, spikeface, y'ain't gotta elaborate no more!"
