Hey everybody. Guess what? It's November! What's so good about November? No, I'm not thinking much about Thanksgiving (although some mashed potatoes, stuffing, and creamed corn is starting to look especially yummy), and I'm not too worried about elections. No, no, that's not what November's all about. It's time for NaNoWriMo! For those of you who don't know, you may be missing out. It's Na (Nathional) No (Novel) Wri (Writing) Mo (Month) for crying out loud! All you have to do is write a 50,000 words worth of a novel. You don't even have to finish the novel, and you have a whole month to do it! You should start at the beginning of November, not before, and put in your word count before the end of November and the start of December!

Click here for the Official NaNoWriMo Website.

And don't forget to register an account if you don't already have one. You can't collect the prizes without one. At least, I'm pretty sure you can't. What do you get? Well, you get some cool banners to put on your website, signature, blog, or whatever, a certificiate saying that you made it, and sometimes they even offer free, limited time available printings of your novel. I tried to get it done once, but I couldn't figure out how to get the cover to work, so I missed out on the printing, but I still have the banners on my website. Not only that, but in certain areas you can meet with other NaNo novelists in person and discuss your progress, your novels, et cetera.

I've won NaNoWriMo three years in a row, if I remember correctly! I started in 2007. Okay, so I've abandoned my novels since then, but my writing's improved. As things are, I'm not sure if I'll be able to complete the NaNoWriMo tournament, but I intend to at least attempt to compete. Of course, I still plan on working on my novels either way. The problem is that I might be moving to someplace where it might be a lot more difficult.

Everybody who makes it is a winner, so what are you waiting for?

Of course, if you don't want to participate, that's okay too.

Update: I've made several terrible mistakes. First, before the start of NaNoWriMo/before the start of November, I had already begun to write a couple of good novels/novel length stories, one of which I decided to restart/rewrite for NaNoWriMo, but I realized a couple days or so ago (and part of me probably realized it before too), that the story that I had already begun to write was much better than the one that I was trying to write for NaNoWriMo. I other words, the original idea was better (and thankfully I still have it).

My other error was that I waited too long to discover this. For a while, I was farting around, playing video games and killing beasts on MMORPGS, and so I devoted more time to that then to my writings.

Now, with having a job and everything, I hope to catch up, but may not. I've decided to highlight and recolor what I wrote in the original copy, and count what I've done so far (starting today, not what I wrote before NaNoWriMo, because that would be cheating) toward trying to reach my NaNoWriMo goal.

Another problem, however, is that I may have to spend the last week of November somewhere without internet, so even if I do manage to catch up, I may not be able to put in my word count before it's too late.

In a way, I'm unofficially dropping out of the race, having little hopes to make it, but I am still going to devote some of my time to my novel (the one I started before NaNoWriMo). Maybe if I can come up with the 50,000 words before the end of November, and manage to put the count in, I might still win. I'm not sure though. *Sigh.* Winning isn't everything at least.

I was soooo excited for NaNo to start. Then yesterday my back started hurting and today it's just worse. So It's becoming hard for me to start this NaNo.. sad

Can I have a link to your account? I hope your back feels better. If I can't have a link, I guess I'll search.

I remember doing this once. Didn't win, but I had fun. Maybe I'll try again this year...

Yeah, it's loads of fun, and I want to write novels anyway, so a challenge is pretty good motivation. Even if I scrap the novel afterward or give up, at least I got to toss some ideas around/try them out ^^.

Thanks. How's the NaNoWriMo site working for you? It loads pretty slowly for me, and sometimes seems to stop altogether, but I'll try to add you eventually ^^;.

Okay, Deafening the Silence, I have added you ^^. At least, I think I did. It's taking pretty long to confirm that I pushed the button >>;.

I see you added me smile I don't know if I added you back... It's super slow for me too because everybody and their dog is trying to update and such.

Aha. I don't know either sweatdrop . I haven't checked yet. In fact, I've been lazy so far this month, although I do have a little over 5 k written so far. There's still a lot left to go though.

lol You need to get your butt into gear, kid. We're supposed to be at 15k today I believe.

I'm around 6 k right now, give or take. I have a job this year, so that's one reason. Another is I've been too busy farting around with MMORPGs and RPGs, XD. I'm working on my novel write now though.

((I spelled "write" that way on purpose, btw >>;.))

I wanted to do it, but then college happened.
PostPosted: Sat Nov 13, 2010 6:54 pm

If I remember correctly, I was in college in 2008, but still made it. I'm not sure though. I know each college and each person are different, so it's kind of understandable. I mean, priorities, right? Aha, I wanted to work on my novel some tonight, and even opened the file, but I'd been on my feet a good chunk of the day and was gone all day and most of the evening, and now I'm taking my behind (and the rest of me) to bed. Those are my priorities ^^;.

I'm not even to 8.5 k yet today, but I'm on a roll with this typing. I'm hoping to be at 15 k at least before the end of the day, and maybe more. It's 1:44 PM where I am now.

Update: It's 2:32 PM where I am now and I'm a little past 10 k, and I actually stopped from time to time to post things online and browse the web and such. If I can keep this up, typing a few k a day, maybe I'll make it. I might work on some more later, but it's some sick stuff that I'm writing, so it's kind of painful ><;.
