Dakari paced on the ground, back and forth, paws starting to wear down a path in the grass. His constant companion, Sitara, was off on a solo flight at the moment. Which left Dakari plenty of time with his own thoughts.

Sitara had been on his mind more than usual. He found himself cherishing her smiles, and becoming insanely protective and jealous around her. This was not normal behavior for him. It certainly hadn't been like that in the beginning! They'd had comraderie, yes, but the fluttering heart and twisting guts were completely new.

Was he getting sick? But it didn't affect anything other than his thoughts? So was he insane? But nothing else in his mind had seemed to change either. He growled a little under his breath, swatting at a bush. What was wrong with him!

The cooling wind in her fur felt great to the Deava. Sitara had been grounded far longer than she was used to now that she had a traveling companion who was sans wings. Oddly, she hardly minded that she was forced to keep her paws on the ground. Dakari was interesting and fun and every time she looked at him she felt mushy. Thoughts of them parting ways was making her downright nauseous.

Hell, being away from the fox for too long was making her nervous. She veered sharply to the right, no longer feeling happy in the sky. Sitara needed to be next to Dakari. Why she needed this she didn't even try to analyze; it was obviously to make sure he hadn't gotten lost. Yes, that was it. She also refused to acknowledge the fact that other females too close to Dakari made her want to either sit on him till they were gone, or actively hunt the females and run them off.

Shaking her head to dislodge the errent thoughts from her mind, Sitara found Dakari quickly, catching him trying to attack a bush. Landing, she eyed the white and purple male. "Did the bush insult you?" she teased. Acting normally was priority number one.

Dakari snorted with mild amusement. "Actually it insulted you. With no one else around I was the only one left to defend your honor. It would have been nice if there was something to defend," he added teasingly. That was the nice thing about having a Daeva around. Comments like that were considered compliments. He gave the bush one last kick with his hind foot, then sauntered over.

Sitara snorted with amusement. She didn't mind sarcastic comments. In fact it was one of the things that made him so interesting to be around. He never really said the same old boring stuff. Plus, she got to retaliate with out him getting his feelings.

"Oh, I don't have any honor, do I? And since you had nothing to defend, am I to assume you lost to a bush?" She asked, teasing him back. "Would you like me to burn it so that it doesn't tell all the other bushes that it beat you?" She made her fire a bit bigger and raised her paw, shaking it threateningly at the bush.

Dakari smirked. "Actually, being the amazing smooth talker that I am, I managed to convince that bush that you did indeed have honor." He stood tall with his chest thrown out, striking his best regal pose. "You may praise me for my amazing silver tongue, and thank your lucky stars that you can say you actually know such a brilliant creature."

Sitara made a very Phimtastic face that her mother would be proud of. "Oh, Dakari! My hero! Battling those evil bushes and fighting for my non-existant honor!" She said in adoration before the ridiculousness of the whole situation over whelmed her. Sitara shook her head as she laughed.

After calming down, she gave Dakari a sidelong look. "So, should I ask what is irritating you enough to show it by swatting a bush? Or should I just mind my own business?" She asked her companion, keeping the concern out of her tone. "Or should I just ignore the whole thing and very smoothly offer a soothing flight while pretending I didn't notice anything?"

Dakari lost his composure when Sitara began to laugh and couldn't hold back a chuckle of his own. His face was still good-natured after they had both calmed down.

For Sitara's question, he shrugged. "It's nothing. I'm not even really sure what it is I'm worrying about. Must be your feminine-ness catching," he teased. "I wouldn't say no to a flight though. How's the wind today?"

"Oh yes, I'm just so ultra-feminine." She put her tail fluff onto her head and struck a pose. "See how stylish?" She grinned at Dakari, hiding her curiosity over what he was worried about. She also wondered exactly why she felt she needed to know.

"The wind is nice and balmy, not too cold. Very calm too. It's a great day for a flight. We really should take advantage of these days; winter is coming on which means storms and being grounded." Sitara grumbled, making a face. She brightened up a little. "And I saw a river not too far from here, so we can get some fish for lunch later."

Dakari made a face. "Not while you're holding me and flying," he said. "Last time we tried fishing like that I had bruises that lasted for weeks." Otherwise fishing sounded great. Fish wasn't something they got too often, since land animals kept them fed better.

He padded forward and wiggled between Sitara's front legs so she could get a proper grip on him. Everything seemed clearer to him in the sky, maybe he could scratch this mind flea and get rid of these pesky, worrying thoughts. Like how he'd felt so relieved and.....warmer when Sitara landed from her solo flight.

"Aw, you're no fun." She teased, though she agreed with him. That little experiment hadn't worked out so well. She dampened her flames and waited for Dakari to position himself. "Alright, here we go." She said. Sitara rose up a bit and snagged her claws into Dakari's ribcage, making sure she had a good grip before launching them into the air.

Flying had always been her favorite activity but, she realized with a jolt, solo flight paled in comparison to flying with Dakari. Sirata frowned slightly as she caught a thermal and took them higher; there were those odd ideas again.

Dakari felt that little thrill each time Sitara took off. He didn't know if he would ever stopped being amazed everytime they flew, and he prayed he never would.

As he predicted the cooling rush of wind made his mind feel much clearer. The wind had a mild bite to it, but the fur was warm on his face and Sitara's body warmed his back. It was one of the few reasons he was glad to be a slim male, it made it easier for Sitara to lift their combined weight.

And that left him to wonder. He had already concluded that Sitara appeared to be the reason for his confusing thoughts, since they had started after they began traveling together. So what about Sitara was confusing his mind? Could it be-?

Sitara tried to be logical about this. Flying solo was great, flying with Dakari was better. The only difference between the two was, of course, her companion. So if she liked flying with him more...then she liked.... She what?

Sitara blinked and her wings stuttered a little, causing the two of them to dip a little before she kicked back into gear. "Oops, sorry about that," she said quickly, "I got a little distracted." Of course, once she thought of it, the idea made sense. Complete sense. And she was so not going to tell Dakari...not anytime soon anyway.

Dakari turned his sky-blue eyes upward, ears pressed flat against Sitara's chest. "You alright. If you don't feel up for flying we can always land and walk. I don't think either of us will feel too great if we have to give the ground an abrupt hug."

Dakari didn't even try to tell himself his concern was purely self-interest. After all if Sitara fell, so did he. She might even land on top of him, which he knew, from play-fighting, would hurt. All were valid reasons, but he found his concern was for Sitara alone.

So he thought about Sitara a lot, he was concerned for her more than for him, and he was over-protective of her. A part of his mind, the denial part, was hiding the answer he knew from him. Dakari physically frowned, probing his mind further to give up it's secrets!

Sitara shook her head. "No, no. I'm okay." She said, smiling down at him. "I'm going to get us to the river a bit faster than I planned though." She replied. She didn't want to give her mind extra time to think on her discovery. She knew exactly Dakari's chance of survival if she dropped him and couldn't catch him, and she was not having any of that.

Sitara dropped her head a little so it rested on the top of Dakari's. "I really am sorry about the dip, I hope that didn't freak you out too much." She would hate it if he stopped trusting her to fly him places. She treasured these times.

Dakari chuckled lightly and thrust his head up a little to bump it into Sitara's. "It was fine. Nowhere near as bad as that flight through that storm. And I don't care if you think it was just a baby not even worth noticing, I still think that wind was horrible!" He was thankful Sitara wasn't very tormenting on that part, since he still did have those moments where flying raised his heart rate.
