-The night was chilly and brisk, the moon a gigantic orb hanging low in the sky. It was the sort of moon that farmers used to help harvest the fall crops far past dusk, the kind of moon that made the night almost as clear as the day. The shadows that normally crept along the street were nowhere to be found, but it also made the shadows that peeked from the depths of the alleyways appear that much more black. Like tangible things, things that could suck you deep into them like a pool.
That was what Sailor Polaris was thinking about as she slid into another alleyway, attempting to stay hidden from the small group of teens that were traveling down the other sidewalk. Perhaps it was the upcoming holiday, or simply the realization that soon snow would keep them stuck indoors, but the streets were fuller then she'd remembered in awhile. Her back pressed to the bricks, listening and waiting for their voices to soften and disappear.
It was a strange night tonight and she had a uncomfortable feeling in her chest that something was going to happen.-

A few steps away, in another shadow, was another senshi. This one was not quite so pure-hearted in his reasons for hiding; he didn't want to remain unnoticed so he could pursue monsters. He wanted to stay hidden so as to be a monster himself.
It wasn't enough to just kill someone. He liked seeing the betrayal in their eyes as they died. Sometimes they tried to convince him not to do it. And sometimes, it worked--sometimes he'd back off, just for fun, just to come back later. He could do that, with some civilians; and you could tell which, because they were the ones who didn't threaten with a gun or pepper spray, just begged.
He was tempted to do something in front of this other senshi--and just like that, a group of teenagers passed in front of the alley's mouth. Perfect, he thought, and he strode past the white-haired girl with purpose to his steps, grabbed the nearest kid's shoulder and thrust a hand into her chest.
As expected, the other children scattered. He smiled as he watched them go, and pushed the girl off his hand; opened his palm to admire her brilliant, glittering starseed. "I'll trade you," he said, turning to face the alleyway. "Hers for yours."

-Though she'd noticed the shadow her attention must have been too fully on the teenagers to notice the figure that lie within it and the power level that she probably should have felt. It wasn't until the figure actually slunk past her and out into the street that she noticed a presence. She didn't have long enough to wonder if she should be worried a human had seen her. Or why a senshi might be walking out in front of everyone.
The ebony and green cloaked senshi touched one of the teens. Screams and then something she'd only ever seen in the hands of the negascum. A starseed glittered in his hands and suddenly his attention was on her.-
"Wh... WHAT are you doing!?" -Confused wasn't a strong enough word for what Polaris was, and it was obvious from the yell that sounded. Why was a senshi doing this!? She'd never met a corrupted senshi.. or even any of the rogue senshi that had experimented with wayward starseeds. One thing was certain though.. she had to save that girl.
She stepped out of the alleyway and into the street, positioning herself in an aggressive stance to attack even though well... she didn't know if she would. They weren't supposed to fight each other..-
"We're supposed to protect the civilians not steal from them! What business do you have with the starseeds anyway!?" -Her words were dutiful and she was oblivious. She hadn't realized entirely yet the seriousness of the situation.-

As predicted, it brought the other senshi out of the shadows, into the street. Spinel turned to look at her as he tucked the starseed into his palm; he was feeling rather tired, and it'd be good for a quick boost if the girl put up a fight. It looked like she just wanted to talk, which was fine with him--more than fine, actually. He didn't like to be stressed while he was killing someone, after all. Hands at his sides, he tipped his head a bit. Her fuku was rather indecent. He decided he didn't like it, couldn't like it. The senshi was already dying but that inspired him to make it a bit faster.
(They would be stressed, of course, but that was part of the fun.)
He loosened his chokehold control on the evil aura, letting the skin-crawling sensation of pure evil bloom to be even more obvious. "You really don't know," he asked, because--did she honestly not know what a Negaverse senshi looked like? Well, even more reason to ******** with her, he presumed. "They're a source of power, aren't they?" And Spinel liked power. He adored it. He resisted the urge to play with the starseed, kept it safe in his palm.

-The wave of dark energy that suddenly spilled into the street cast a shiver down her spine, pimpling the flesh that was hidden underneath ivory gloves. It wasn't like a youma. Not even like one of those negaverse soliders. Magic radiated from it and as he spoke the pieces slowly began to come together.
She'd heard almost that exact phrase before. From Lt Sassolite. Her arms spread, prepping her attack, but just as quickly dropped once again. Her attack was too wild. It risked the starseed and the girl far too much. If he was a senshi degraded enough to join with the bad well then.. she hardly put it past him to use the girl as a shield against her metal.- "I've heard that before from the Negascum which I guess means..."
"You are a wolf in sheeps clothing, aren't you?" -She nearly spit the words her shoulder hitched downward, her body shoving forward and across the street with the speed and foot control of a dancer. She risked being hit by whatever power he had, but she was dead set on trying to plow him over. Get the girl away and then make him a traitor shish kabob.-

Oh, she was unhappy. Well, as if that mattered; he didn't think it did. "It means I am purified," said Spinel agreeably; "I know what you senshi are really like. Backstabbing, murdering bitches all of you." His voice trailed off, turning to a curious hmm? She was going to do something, but stopped. Hm. He didn't puzzle too much over it, though.
Instead, he picked up the girl. There was the risk of the senshi attacking him, and he wanted a shield of some sort besides his powers before they inevitably engaged.
"I suppose you could say that." He rather liked it, wolf in sheep's clothing. Spinel didn't bother moving out of the way; he had underestimated her strength, but the civilian's body between them was more than enough cushioning to keep him from doing anything but being bowled over. That knocked the breath out of him, but there were several loud cracks from the chest of his human shield. "Careful, dear, you'll kill her before you even get anywhere near her starseed," he said brightly, once he'd caught his breath. Then he shoved the two girls off, retreated a few steps away--it was easy, ring the bell three times and wait for the senshi to try and get near him. There was no way.

-She seemed less than impressed with his words, well used to the assertion from the other side that they were the good ones and senshi the bad. Of course they always seemed to say it while huddled over a corpse or soon to be corpse that they were thieving from. And what was it they said about actions speaking louder than words?
A genuine look of regret crossed her face as she heard the damage she did to the limp girl, only deepening as the dark senshi tormented her verbally about it. She'd never killed a civilian.. even with her dangerous attack, though she had injured one or two. Even if she beat the dark senshi, if she killed the girl it was just as much a loss.
As he pushed away and retreated a few feet Polaris settled the girl on the ground behind her. He'd made a mistake by getting rid of his shield, and she was going to make him pay for it. Pushing up from the ground she rushed him again.-
((I didn't know if his power would deflect metal or just people sooo.. physical attack again just incase it wouldn't work against the metal ;D))

"Up and at them, are you," he laughed; his bell was in his hand, he was ringing it when Polaris was barely a foot away, and then she was blasted back by the effects of his bell. The closer in they were, the farther they were thrown when he attacked. It had been worth the risk, he thought as he tugged out the starseed. He really was tired, and you know, if he needed a boost it would be okay--he'd already given the Queen multiple starseeds over the past few weeks, and his job wasn't strictly starseed collection anyway.
The crystal crunched between his teeth; they had a particular flavor, starseeds, one that couldn't quite be mimicked or even compared to the usual flavors of food. It was like eating light and energy. Like eating a star. He swallowed, slid back into a competitive stance. "Too late," he sighed, "what a shame." It was all one word; whattashame, uttered with a mocking smile and a queer light in his eyes. "I guess without my ace in the hole you'll just have to fight for vengeance, won't you?"

-She hadn't expected the sudden burst of energy that had suddenly propelled her backwards accompanying the soft twinkle of the bell. So unprepared Polaris was that she found herself quickly lifted, coming down roughly on the ground a** first before slowing her skid with her elbows and gloved arms. The burn of skin on asphault was bitingly painful, ecspecially on such a sensitive part of her body part. But the pain was muted in a moment as she registered in horror the destruction of the starseed.
She'd seen them crushed before... taken away.. but never this. His smugness was infurirating, but his complete lack of humanity as he murdered the girl finally and fully was just too much.
The scream of despair was caught behind clenched teeth, she hadn't even bothered to get up from the ground. It wasn't even strategy that prompted what she did next, no, but the anger and vengence he'd taunted her about.
It wasn't very often she set herself as the target, and as soon as she'd done it all the small metal items in the area began to shiver to life. Cans, loose bolts, the corrupted senshi's bells beginning to mingle into a deafening and chaotic melody. All at once things began to fly towards the senshi, who had finally lifted her arms to shield herself.- "Magnetic field!"

He didn't fight to hold onto his bells, but this was probably because he was surprised. His weaponry had never been turned against him like this--it actually wasn't against him, just turned away. All the same, it was a very mystic and strange power, not unlike his abilities with his bells.
Stupid to expect anything different, really, she was a senshi, wasn't she?
Still, it was enough to make his breath quicken. Those were his bells, they were a part of him-- a huge part of him, an important part, and she had yanked them away just like that. As easy as breathing--he was not in control of this situation, he thought suddenly, and out of instinct he reached for one of the most fundamental of corrupted abilities: teleportation.
In that moment, Spinel--and his bells--disappeared.
