He lead the way into the elevator, punching the button for up and glancing at his former team mate, it was odd seeing him with an eyepatch. They had an uneasy 'relationship', blackmail for blackmail and as far as Zink was concerned, an odd if slightly twisted respect for the other young man. It was in no way lessened or amplified by his recent injury.
"Are you positive you are up for this?" He offered, just to be sure that Wolfram was truly up for a spar. It wasn't as though he were the most dangerous opponent in the negaverse, at least not physically. But with his smoke he'd be able to reduce conditions to almost blind...at least in some ways that would level the playing field for them though.

"It is good though to see you out again, I am tired of seeing my associates in the hospital"

It was as close to deeply sympathetic and caring as Zink had ever come, at least in Wolfram's company.

He had been out and about from the hospital for only a little while, and stuck at home for a little while longer. His parents had been set on keeping everyone close before his dad and sister moved, and his mother was all the more protective with waking up and seeing that her son had been alone without anyone for several weeks and was missing an eye for it. He knew she felt personally responsible some way, the guilt of a parent, but he was now away. He was now back on the streets, and he could now work on being a Captain.

That meant practice and plenty of it, and that meant looking back to his very limited connections in the Negaverse. While he could not say he and Zinkenite were friends – more associates with some small knowledge of each other and a sense of being comrades as far as working for the Negaverse – he was at least glad that he took up the offer of assisting him.

Still, it didn't mean he wasn't nervous. The slightly shorter Captain (He wasn't surprised Z was also promoted) always had an air of being crafty and seizing someone else up for weakness. It was that idea that made Wolframite wonder what Zink thought now. Did he wonder if Wolframite was more of an asset as a Captain or burden as a one-eyed Captain? He was self-conscious of his patch, an addition he still was getting used to.

Still, he had to move on. He had goals to meet and people to decapitate.

"I'm good. I've been in the hospital long enough, and don't need to be hanging about while others do all the work. I'm no good like this." Like a lump waiting at home and doing nothing. He needed to patrol again and be useful to his team, to the Negaverse, and to earth.

The elevator shuttered as it reached the fourth floor and opened to a dark, dank, and cobweb-thick floor. He breathed in deep.

There was just one problem with training. They decided to do it around the Halloween season, and Ladon was a fraidy cat when it came to ghost, ghouls, and haunted houses.

Zink moved forward into the dust and cobwebs with little regard, were it a horror game it might seem like he would be one of the first to go. The non believer whom was so quickly consumed by zombies, or vampires or the like.
He paused when he didn't hear Wolfram immediately behind him and cast an expectant glance.

"Your the injured party... You get first strike in this..." He said simply. It was the honorable thing to do after all, and it wasn't a 'real' fight so offering such a thing seemed less onerous.
Then again sometimes letting them strike first gained you something...well, so long as you could dodge it.

"Are you alright? If theirs too much dust for your eye..." He added. They could after all find somewhere else to train.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 02, 2010 6:06 pm

He was looking about, taking note of a particularly FAT spider that was handing above from a massive cobweb that looked as it could hold a small baby. The idea of a body covered in webbage and being carried away didn't improve his mood, and he slowly stepped out onto the dust-covered floorboards to only freeze at the sound of a long cccccRRREEEAAaaaakkkkk that was just too movie-ish to be everyday. It was like he was seeing all of this through a camera lense and that any moment, the music would start and some quick shadow would rush behind him. What was the rule again? If you were a virgin, you didn't die.

He hoped movie rules were true in real life. OHhhhhh, he hated Halloween! He should have trained on the Eve! No! That was bad too. November. Nothing spooky happened then.

It was Zink's concern that made him stop gripping his heart and look in fake serious at the man. "No. I'm fine. Why can't you have first strike?" A little bit of defensive machoism was in his tone that he had hoped was less toned down than it had been. The words 'eye' and 'injured' him all translated to pity, and he didn't like it.

He moved over to Zink, looking about. He wished there was more light, and he fought the compulsion to grip Zink's sleeve and whimper. THAT would be awful.

"Do we just start here?" He looked around, wondering if he'd step on any discarded bones.

What was that? That noise. Was that a cat? A rat? Headless zombie! DAMN YOU TATE FOR MAKING HIM WATCH THOSE MOVIES WHEN HE HAD SAID NNNNOOOO THE ENTIRE TIMEE!!!!

"First strike it is then." Zink said and casually palmed a smoke pellet and loaded it in one smooth motion before firing it into the dust at Wolfram's feet.
The dust did nothing but exacerbate it, fat spiders now concealed in mist and the vague stench of smoke pellets as Zinkenite shifted his goggles into place.
"You look rather concerned with our location" He added as he shifted where he was standing to move closer towards where he had last Seen his fellow Captain.

Ah blast. Smoke pellets. He should have known this attack from Tate's account of her own attack by Zink when he was still a lieutenant. Waving the smoke from his face, he then watched as it rose up and covered cobwebs, and everything around him. There could be the cold hands of the undead near him and he wouldn't see it coming! EEEEHHHH!!!!

He jolted when he heard Zinkenite's voice and he curls his hands to his chest, transforming in a ripple to his uniform and soon after holding his own weapon. "What are you saying?" He said in a strained voice. "I'm just worried I might fall through a floorboard. The place is old." And could be haunted with the ghost of the undead.

He heard a creak that could have probably just been him, but too freaked out to notice, he turned about, holding his weapon. "Zink..?" He asked, wondering where he was. He …didn't want to be ALONE IN A CREEPY HOUSE!

The floorboards did squeek, he doubted very much that they were -that- old though, more that they were at loosened at the nails to make sure they did. He moved closer till he could just discern Wolfram's outline in the fog before he leaned in and said.

"Watch your step then."

And shifted backwards quickly to dodge any lashing out he might do.

To Wolframite, it wasn't the healthy breathing of a teenage boy telling him to be careful, but the strained, rattled breath of death blowing at the back of his neck to sentence him to hell! The words barely registered and he completely forgot that Zink was the only person here and of course the only person to talk to him as he spun around and screamed. And it wasn't a macho, deep, manish scream. Not only did Ladon look young, he sounded young, and anyone could have fun poking at the fact that his scream was highly feminine. It blended well with the Halloween season and probably a few people in the lower levels of the building thought some guy was probably getting some clinging action from a squeamish girlfriend.

But it wasn't the case, and Wolframite was breathing deep, gasping as he looked about. "Don't DO THAT!" He shouted, catching his racing heart as he stepped back away from where Zink's creepy voice had talked to him. It was good that there was fog coverage, though if his red face was anything like Rudolph's nose through the fog, he might be easy to pick out in the thick smoke.

Great. Now he just gave Z more blackmail and he couldn't find the goddamn door either. It didn't do Wolframite any good that he was backing right into a large spiderweb.

Zink couldn't help himself... that -scream-, it was priceless. Wolfram did good work, he Knew that... but that -scream-.
He tossed back his head and gave a short burst of laughter. In the dark and the fog it probably sounded like that of some mad scientist coming to collect body parts for his beasts.

"I think...if we ever need someone to play bait again, Captian, I'll ask you...though I can't promise 'pants'." He chuckled.

Frustrated with himself, he gripped his weapons and gave a full-out pout at being laughed at. "Shut up! I don't LIKE being in some goddamn house in the MIDDLE of the night during HALLOWEEN in the DARK and HEAVEN KNOWS with WHAT around heERRREE!!!" He shot back and started to throw anything that felt like a spider across the room. His hands patted and ran trough his hair, throwing off both bug and heavy webbing from his hair and shoulders and then just all over to make sure it was all gone. When he was done with that, he threw his weapon over and over and over in the direction of the cobweb mass he just walked into.

When he was done slashing at the webs with his knives and chains, he let them sag as he panted. He gave a large shiver at just THINKING of those gross bugs crawling on him, in his hair, all over him. "I HATE spiders!"

a Long silence greeted the aftermath of the outburst...

finally...from against as far a wall as he could reach came. "....Duly noted."

He shifted again as the smoke started to settle...outlines becoming more clear. "I do envy your weapon I must say." He admitted glancing at the bladed chain. "Are you set up for a team yet?"

He crouched low and sudden and swept his foot out to try and sweep wolfram off his feet.
PostPosted: Tue Nov 02, 2010 8:02 pm

The floorboards creeked and shuddred as his bottom hit the ground hard, and he grimaced at the impact his tailbone made on the aged wood. While the smoke did nothing, the dust that kicked up made him cough, but he wasn't stopping. He gripped the chain and made a half circle in front of him to sweep the blade out to cut in front of him before moving to get up.

What a ROOKIE mistake! Stupid. Stupid. Stupid! He was training and getting distracted by spiders and creepy ghouls when he was here to fight Zinkenite. The man was no doubt judging how poorly he was doing and either thought he was hopeless on his own or just downright questioning how he even became a Captain.

It was the talking that gave away Zink's position, but the settling smoke was helping. It seemed Zink's attack was temporary, and Wolframite felt suddenly glad his weapon just didn't dissolve.

"I ...haven't even started thinking about teams." He didn't think he was even up for the challenge of handling other people under his care when he couldn't do so himself. He would have to protect anyone he had under his charge. "I...don't think it would be smart to give me someone to watch over." Not wen he was the only person to protect them and make sure they stayed alive. Then again, a Lieutenant on their own was never good. Still, it was no guarantee. He saw entire teams wiped out before.

...and had failed to help them.

He felt guilt again for team Tra-La, but pushed it aside as he got up, holding his weapon once more.

"My weapon is fine, but the blades have no handles, and a chain is different to a jump rope. There is a lot more length to deal with." He looked in the smog. "...and the knives cut." He wasn't working with wooden handles anymore. If one hit him in the face, he was going to get badly hurt from it.

"Yes... I'm rather delighted that they cut...except for where they might be aimed at me." Zink said and in the clearing smoke you could see he was rolling something in his palm...another pellet.
"Mine do not...but their plentiful." He flashed a smile and fitted it into his slingshot and aimed it between wolfram's feet before firing.

It cracked and belched forth more noxious smoke into the air, bitter and wretched.

"You'll just need time to adjust... would you like you work in conjunction with mine? I do Work in some tandem of course, with Scheelite... but I think it would benefit us both for the duration."
PostPosted: Tue Nov 02, 2010 8:27 pm

He only had enough time to watch the smog float down, settling as he made out the ghostly outline of the other Captain, who seemed to be musing to himself as he rolled a small ball in his fingers. Then, slingshot out, he threw it to break and puff great plumes of smoke between Wolframite's feet.

He stumbled back, wrinkling his nose as he waved the air away. "It seems you have more than one trick." He managed through a held breath. Not just pellets for disguise, but smoke that could really send your tear-ducts and nose burning.

These are all distractions. He told himself. Zink was leveling the playing field of weapon-welding attackers and using his own advantage. It was a tactic. Instead of meeting head on, one-on-one, weapon to weapon, he moved on his own terms. Someone could get frustrated or exhausted looking for him.

So Wolframite waited, and held out his weapon. He looked at the long length, and remembered what Zink said about not liking them being aimed at him.

He looked down at the floorboard and pressed on it, hearing it creek. Hmmm. There might be something there.

"You mean form a team together, with Scheelite too?" He knew that Scheelite and Zink were close, being 'together', but he didn't know how that team worked if he was added as a third wheel. "Don't you think that would throw off that...duo thing you have going?" In short, weren't they sort of doing a dating team thing?

He licked his lips. He had tried doing wide sweeps of his blade, but it worried him. He always had to catch it in time or he risked having it spin around him and the knife coming at him. He could always throw it out and see if it hit anything, and so he tried. Picking what would be his 3 o'clock, he threw his blade, holding one end to stop it from flying away.

He froze... as the blade nicked by him, it was sharp enough to part the fabric of his sleeve but by some trick of fortune it did little more than cut a shallow slice into his arm.
Shallow slices somehow hurt more though he reckoned, though never having been truly stabbed he could not swear to that, and had no plans of EVER finding out.

"Scheelite has his own team." He answered staying for a moment where he was. "I'm offering you a temporary place on mine, until your sure of yourself. It will give you practice without risking anyone's respect. When I work with Scheelite, it will simply be a pyramid dynamic rather than a gate... the three of us could preform horse shoe tactical attacks as well... the results could be outstanding." He finished and crouched low enough that he used his hands to trace his way across the floor to a new position, more evenly distributing his weight to be quiet.
