Stretched out in the shallows and leaning back on his elbows, Set'al watched the trail of large bubbles that burbled to the surface of the lake, following his dragon's movements beneath as he fished for a tasty snack. Pipith quite liked crustaceans, crunchy and juicy as they were. If only they were larger! It was hard to find and eat enough for an actual meal.

Now, a herdbeast-sized crustacean...that would be a fine thing! Seizing upon one - a normal-sized one, that was - he popped his head out of the water to enjoy it.

...only to be subsequently vexed when he got a piece of shell stuck between his teeth. Miiiiiiiiine.

The man rolled his eyes. Well, come over here.

F'ren yawned, he finally had time to himself and get some long overdue sleep ... when Toulonth wanted to go down to the beach, while he could have let her go alone, he thought it was as good a place as any to take a nap, so he got her ready, climbed abroad and set off.

They were soon winging above the water "i like it here" he said to Touonth "Oh look there's another Dragon" he pointed out, the sleepiness driven out of him by the straight flying. "HELLO DOWN THERE!" he called, just before Toulonth let out a Bugle of greeting to her fellow Dragon.

"Good day to you and Yours!" she bugled.

Uh-oh, company! Not that Pipith minded company of the green variety, but he had crustacean in his teeth! That was no way for a handsome, dignified, and all-around magnificent bronze such as himself to be seen. He half-emerged from the water in a hurry, presenting his rider with the problem at hand. Quickly, Set'alMine, before they see!

Set'al suppressed a laugh and pulled the troublesome piece of shell out of his dragon's teeth, dropping it into the water. There, perfect again.

He waved at the pair while Pipith greeted them. Good day to you as well!

Toulonth landed carefully, trying not to kick up too much sand with her downbeats, F'ren leapt lightly off her shoulder, wobbling slightly as his foot slipped "oops, hehe, Hello there!" he piped up, smiling at the Bronzerider.

Toulonth's eyes whirled as F'ren removed her harness. She stretched and yawned before heading out into the water "i wonder if there are any Dolphins around" she mused, 'out loud' so that F'ren or Pipith could hear.

Hmm. Not rude, but not entirely polite, either. Where was the introduction? Pipith might have been a little offended if the green were an adult, but supposed he could forgive a Weyrling. Maybe with just a little reminder...

An uncannily well-timed reminder from his rider to Be nice! stifled the urge. Set'al was very insistent that they tread lightly around pretty much everyone here. I am Pipith, the bronze settled on, ignoring the mention of dolphins. He didn't find them particularly interesting. And you are?

"Hey," Set'al returned, smiling and sitting up. "Nice day for flying, huh?"

Toulonth coughed apologetically "I'm am sorry Pipith, i am Toulonth, i wanted to see dolphins but i should have greeted you properly" she explained, though not excusing the fact she had failed to introduce herself.

Fren stifled a chuckle as his Dragon's lapse, "She's been eager to see Dolphins ever since K'ro told us about the ocean, we kind of....snuck away for a while" he said with a cough. "I'm F'ren"

They look like big fish, Pipith said, satisfied by the apology, and sank lazily back into the water. Sometimes he wondered what they might taste like, but Set'al insisted that dolphins were not meant to be eaten.

"I know how that goes." The rider's smile was sympathetic. Weyrling life was hectic, and he was very glad it was now several turns behind him. "I'm Set'al, and this is Pipith."

"oh" replied Toulonth, a little disapointed. She swam out deeper though, putting her head under the water and bugled below the surface, hoping to attract any nearby creatures.

"She's Toulonth" he said, relieved that Set'al didn't immediately berate him for the stunt. "Hello Pipith" he called out loud to the Bronze. He took off his flying gear, even in the heat of Trine, one had to wear the right clothing for flying, it might be warm but when your Dragon is higher up, it gets colder.

Try not to scare all the food, Pipith requested with dry amusement. He acknowledged the green's rider with a turn of his head before dipping back down under the water in search of more delicious snacks.

"The water's nice after a bit of flying," Set'al noted with a slight grin.

Toulonth was disapointed, either there were no Pods in the area or they just didn't feel like socialising either way, no Dolphins answered her "I'm sorry Pipith, i didn't know you were trying to eat here" her tone low.

"Mmmhm" F'ren concurred, wondering if he should strip further, down to his shorts beneath his trousers. He could do with a swim, but the warm sun felt nice too. He comprimised and removed his shirt and shoes, leaving his feet and chest bare. "You're new to the Weyr right?" he commented.

I like crustaceans, he explained, They're very crunchy. But it takes a lot of them to not be hungry. Aha! Successfully hunting out another one, he lifted his head to enjoy it - and breathe. That was important, too.

"Yep, that's us," Set'al confirmed. Word did have a way of getting around. "Guess we're kinda hard to miss."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 30, 2010 1:42 pm

"crust....aceans?" asked Toulonth, not having had much experience with anything other than the herdbeast she ate at the Weyr. "oh, that doesn't look like food" she commented seeing what he'd brought to the surface.

F'ren laughed at his dragon "she's a little confused, we dont eat all that much from the sea. at least.. the dragons dont anyway" he explained. "don't worry, i was just checking that i hadn't forgotten you" he chuckled "though it's easier to remember Dragons than it is people, with Toulonth around"

There's meat inside the shell, Pipith elaborated, crunching away happily. Very juicy. You should try one.

"They're not my favorite, but he certainly enjoys them." It pleased the bronze to be good at 'hunting' the strange little creatures.

"Dragons are more distinctive than people, aren't they?" Enormous, brightly-colored, strikingly-patterned...each one definitely left an impression all its own.

"Inside?" she mused, searching for one herself, after coming up for air a couple of times she foud one large enough to deal with "i wonder if i could get the meat without crunching the outside" she said, laying down with the shell in her claws, turning it this way and that, trying to figure out a way to get inside it without breaking the shell.

F'ren laughed hard at the look of concentration on Toulonth's face "Sorry Set'al, but that's funny, i wish i could draw that!" he exclaimed between breaths of laughter. He was rewarded by a glare from Toulonth, before she went back to her shell. "I meant that Toulonth likes to remind me of names" he smiled.

Why would you do that? The older dragon was baffled. The crunch is good.

"That is pretty good," Set'al agreed, chuckling. Greens really had a way of being charming, even when they weren't trying...well, maybe not all of them, but in general. "Oh, she's got a memory for them, does she?" Pipith had a very typical dragon memory, though it was a little longer when it came to grudges.
