He gave the change machine one last, dejected kick before finally giving up on it. Last time Toby checked, three quarters does not a dollar bill make. Finally deciding that it really was not worth twenty-five cents to battle further considering he regularily took things valueing quite a bit more, the Meadowview student turned around to ponder what sort of games could readily be available for three-quarters of a dollar. The options currently included a rip-off of Pac Man, something that was called 'Street Flayer' and a shooting game. Joy.
Wait a second, he was pretty sure he had change at least in the other pocket. With great concentration, Toby dug into his rather frayed left pocket, pulling out two paperclips, a wad of tissues, some half-chewed gum, and a couple of marbles. Where the heck was that other quarter?

Demy had long since learned his lesson with that particular change machine. Sure, a quarter might not be too much, but quarters added up and a missing quarter could mean the difference between a Totally Awesome encore on Guitar Hero or walking away from a challenge.
In other words, it simply could not be done. Rather than risk the change machine, Demy arrived with his pockets already jingling with change. It honestly had been a long while since he stepped into the arcade, but then again being in a coma did that to people. He still wasn't feeling particularly...himself, but he had somehow convinced himself that a trip to his old hangout would help.
He didn't, however, expect to spot a certain someone in the arcade. It was only a split second later that a rather horrifying exclamation reached the other boy's ears. "TOBY?! Bro? Is that you? Man I haven't seen you in ages!" Cue one crazy blonde at the other's side. Lord this was going to be one -long- day.

He had just finished digging up a rather large keychain out of his pocket when he heard his name, nearly dropping the keychain in surprise (talking cats were great and all, but talking items?!)
It then occured to him a few things. First, that the potentially talking item sounded an AWFUL like someone he had been trying to avoid for the past while. Secondly, that there was someone VERY CLOSE to his proximity, hovering over him. And thirdly, there was someone VERY CLOSE to his proximity, hovering over him, that happened to be the-person-he'd-rather-not-name.
He stifled a groan, and tried to put on his best surprised face. It kind of looked like he really needed to use the washroom. "Uh, wow fancy seeing you here Demy." His mind was racing with all sorts of excuses from 'Well look at the time' to 'Hey look over there!' but sadly, his legs were glued on the spot.

"I know right? Dude it's been so long, we have to meet up more often! But hey, what are you doing with this thing?" Demy paused his rambling a moment to poke at the machine, moving juuuust a bit away from Toby. Unfortunately for the other boy it wasn't quite enough to allow him a clean escape.
"This thing steals money, don't ya already know that? Sooo did it nab your quarters? I have extra if you do! Cmon we could go play a game or something...I could really use the distraction." Here he bit his lip, the first sign that something was actually -troubling- him. That happened often, these days, but Toby didn't need to know about that. Now was a happy time!
"Cmon, I'll even let you pick. What do you want to play man?" He was grinning happily, two steps away from draping himself all over his 'little bro' and forcibly dragging him to play games. Hopefully Toby would just go with it before it came to this.

"Oh I dont know..." came his tell-tale protest, but honestly, playing games seemed harmless enough. Not to mention, he was really beginning to feel bad with the look Demy was subconsciously giving him. It was similar to something his mom used to do when she wanted to say something but couldn't. "... but heck, sure I guess a game couldn't hurt."
The last part came out in a less-than-relcutant manner: Demy had won him over. Plus free quarters. Toby liked anything with the word 'free' in it.
He tried his best to nonchalantly move over to the game he had been eyeing all this time, Zombie Apocalypse 4. "So how good are you at shooter games... Demy." He had tried to say 'bro', really, but couldn't bring himself to do it. Not after the latter had pounded his face to the ground, especially not after Toby was still convinced he was the better. Really. And he would show them in this manly zombie showdown. "How about the winner gets to be boss for the day?"

"Noooot one of my best types of games dude, but I'm totally willing to play! I'm better at shooters than say...racers. Ugh, racers." Demy peered around the other boy at the game. Zombie Apocalypse 4. ...Interesting. Well, if one was going to be shooting things, better zombies than say...cute fluffy animals . Yes, shooting zombies was definitely the better option. One would feel MUCH more compelled to shoot a reanimated corpse trying to eat their brains rather than a bunny.
Unless it was that Monty Python bunny. Then...yeah, shooting it would seem like a good idea too.
"Zombie one yeah? I'm down for that...but boss hrm? Sounds like quite the interesting deal....let's go for it!" Not that he really knew what this 'boss' thing meant, but he figured going along with it would be fine. This whole thing could turn out fun!

To be honest Toby wasn't exactly sure what had made him say "boss", he probably meant 'have the upper hand' or most likely something like 'my ego is so tiny and I am vaguely humiliated so please humour me'.
Surprisingly the game was actually vacant at this time of the day; Toby picked up one of the guns (the red one) and waited. "Quarters." He made eye motions from Demy towards the 'please pay me' slot. It then occured to him that making small talk was probably the best way to actually convince someone to do something. "So.. uh... how... are...things?"
It took him a good fifteen seconds to say a sentence to the vague semblance of above.

Demy was all too eager to join Toby at the game and picked up the blue gun (yay blue!). "Quarters!" He answered back, quickly digging around in his pocket for the money to get the game started. As he pulled them out and stuffed them into the hungry machine, green eyes shifted to look over at Toby.
"How...are things? Heh, pretty interesting I guess. How'd the whole coma thing treat you? Knocked me right on my a** for a while. It was......an ordeal, I suppose. Everything about it is so fuzzy." He shrugged it off like it really didn't bother him as much as it did. No need to bother Toby about silly things like comas afterall. Money deposited, Demy put both of his hands back on the gun.
"How bout you? You doing okay? Whatcha been up to?" The hesitance in Toby's voice when the first question was asked hadn't really seemed to register with the blonde.
