He took a deep breath, steadying himself... this project was important to him. He knew...he KNEW he could do it, but he needed 'permission'...in fact he needed the ULTIMATE permission. It was not only a way to sanction what he wanted, but it might be the ONLY thing that might keep Scheelite from terminating his project before it was even completed.

he organized the notes in his hands, hissed quietly to himself because part of his notes were in his own 'short hand' and prayed it would not raise too many questions about how often he took notes on 'people'.

He raised one hand to knock on the door and stopped himself.
He was not afraid, he told himself. He was not afraid, he was simply making sure that he had everything prepared to perfection. The consequences of this visit could be...severe for all he knew.

He took a step back, then a step forward and knocked on the door before he could over think things. He wondered as soon as he finished, if he should have brought 'cupcakes'.

Thankfully for Zac, cupcakes ranked low on Beryl's appreciation list.

The knock was nothing unfamiliar, the gentle rap forcing the redhead to look up from her paperwork. Bills, check stubs and receipts littered the dining table, alongside a small calculator (presumably swiped from Mr. Thompson's classroom). A pencil was tucked behind one ear, stray strands of hair slipping down to brush against her cheek.

Eyebrows furrowed, the young face seemingly crossed between agitation at being disturbed and relief from being excused from dealing with this 'checkbook balancing' task that she was apparently now responsible for. Never had she been forced to take on such menial work as accounting but unfortunately, when one freezes their second in command in a fit of revenge...she was left with no other option.

For now, at least.

Rising from her chair, the calculator was cast aside atop a Pier One receipt stack as flip flops made their way towards the door. Opening it, the short student was immediately recognized and her eyes shot down to his hand - a silent mental prayer being said that this young man had the decency not to come bearing cavity-inducing sweets.

Once satisfied, the door widened and her head tilted, lips pursing as if she'd just remembered she hated being disturbed.

"Yes?"

He made a small bow from the waist unsure what else might be polite to do given the expression on her face. He didn't think 'kissing her hand' would quite do given he was only a Captain.

"Sorry to interrupt you Your M... Madam." He said his hands tightening about the note book. "I was wondering...if I might bother you about a... possible project with one of the Senshi I've run into a few times."
He glanced her over hesitantly. Somehow doing bills didn't quite mesh up with what he recalled of his last meeting with her. He supposed she DID work...or had worked as Charonite's secretary but it still seemed, odd to see her with a pencil tucked behind her ear.

He wondered if he should offer to assist her with whatever her current project was or if that would just be jumping in over his head with impunity.

One hand ushered him inside, eyebrows having risen at the Captain's boldness. "I think this subject is safer spoken of behind closed doors, dear."

Her endearment lacked the sincerity that Ursula's dears and darlings held, causing her words to seem awkward and out of place. Nevertheless, the 'dear' was forced inside and the door closed, the Queen of the Negaverse soon making her way back towards the cluttered kitchen table.

One outstretched hand motioned towards the chair beside her as she took her seat in front of the bills, her attention (and other hand) returning to her billing task.

Without looking up, she gave a curt nod. "Project is a vague term, Zinkenite. If you wish to bother me, you're going to need to be a bit more specific than that."

He paused for a moment as though suspicious that the chair he was offered might be electric but did sit down before he stood long enough that it was truly rude.

"I'd like to corrupt a Senshi, with your permission and assistance of course." He added and offered her a small handful of notes, carefully re-written in long hand.
Approximate age, height, hair color, uniform. Name, a rough description of her attacks...

One sailor "Lyra" it seemed.

"She has... or rather she's been gaining self doubt, every time we've 'encountered' each other, I think her attacks are excellent for camouflage and they now do burning damage even if its slight. If we could bring her to our side it would seriously hamper any senshi that fought a team that held her... at...least that's my... assessment."
He sat ridged as a new recruit to the army, perched just enough on the edge of the chair that he wouldn't be falling off any time soon but his eyes never left her, and he was trying to look as confidant about his plan as he had before he'd approached her door.

Slender fingers continued to tap on the calculator, eyes focused on the checkbook and brightly lit numbers. The meticulously written notes and papers continued to dangle in his hand, almost as though she had no intentions of accepting them.

But, just as one would think she had chosen to ignore the offer, the well-manicured hand reached up and received the paper offering. Eyes glanced over at the notes... and then she returned to her checkbook, removing the pen behind her ear to scribble in various numbers from her calculator figuring.

Hope seemed almost futile, the idea dismissed until - "Corrupt is a rather interesting term to be using, Captain."

The pen had found its home next to the calculator, and the other hand moved to sift through the various notes. "When we take a senshi into our army, I prefer to view it as more of a... forced purification process, if you will."

Hands paused to study the appearance details of the redheaded senshi. Whether or not the name Lyra rang any bells in Ursula's former memories, it was not apparent. "Saying we corrupt individuals is implying that we are the ones defiling the situation and I certainly refuse to believe that you would think such a thing, Captain."

Eyes glanced up to meet his, then back towards the paper. She grew silent for several moments, then shook her head, orange strands of hair gently swaying with the motion. The smile on her face was nothing but wry.

"Humor me - how is it that you intend on capturing this senshi? And what if her little friends - or cat - enter the picture?"

Memories of the siamese had apparently surfaced from Ursula's memories into Beryl's thoughts. Perhaps she hadn't dismissed the idea, after all.

"Unless...I finish swaying her to our side before we 'recruit her'...Madam, she won't view it as anything but 'corruption', I apologize for the term." He ducked his head slightly, contrite or at least good enough to make the gesture of it.
"There is no guarantee that they will not show up, at all, but If I keep...questioning her beliefs in our 'encounters' and in turn making her question those beliefs, I believe our chances are better that she will allow at least me close enough to...purify her." He said carefully.
"The only questions are...will I have the strength to do it, and when will I find the best time to strike." He said straitening again, shoulders back, confidant of his assessment, and then paused.

"With your permission of course... and I'll be using my own...arsenal, and team to prepare for her team should they arrive, I'll assess them, their powers, if I feel I need more people I'll ask your permission to bring in other people whom I trust to behave rationally, and for what I hope is in the long term good interest of...our organization, and through it yourself."

he knew damn well he couldn't trust Scheelite to behave 'rationally' about Lyra, maybe not at all the way he'd been acting these days.. something dangerous and unstable about him had come to light.

Fingers began to rap against the table, an ancient habit that had formed decades prior to now, during days of disappointment with her own former generals over their own former ideas that inevitably failed. But this was the twenty-first century and things were bound to have changed...right?

The fingers ceased their tapping.

"I am always open to the idea of inviting more into our little... family." The smile was now forced, Beryl anything but a mother figure to her minions. "And strength will not be your concern - I am willing to assist you in those regards, as long as you can prove that your efforts are not in vain. I do not waste energy nor do I waste star seeds."

Her lips drew into a firm, thin line, the lack of makeup exposing how pale her skin and lips truly were. "How much time are you requesting for this mission, Zinkenite? Charonite wasted two years of my time - I refuse to allow any more to dwindle away unnecessarily."

"I will move...as quickly as possible." He said carefully. "But I will not waste your time, by moving with too great a haste." He did a very small bow.
"I will NOT waste your time with this." He replied and his eyes said he very much believed that if he determined not to, that he would not. It remained to be seen if he could hold to that.
"I know you will hold me accountable if I fail." He added and a small furrow appeared between his brows as he calculated what he would need to do.

"At least... two more chances to... 'encounter her' just to be sure of her state of mind, I recon that, in as many weeks, Her schedule has been erratic or I would give you a more confidant time of that, perhaps three if I can find her within that span. I'll Send you progress reports as well... He looked tense and considering.
"I hope... to do this within two months, I'd prefer to do it in one but if her current erratic behavior continues, I can't begin to promise that. I will NOT stop collecting star seeds, I will not waste them."

He didn't say that he himself had yet to 'consume' one for the boost of energy.
"... my greatest concern is that Scheelite might kill her before I complete my work." He said and then stopped, he didn't want her to think he sympathized with the enemy... "But if she's so week as to let him... then she isn't worth having... my fear that he will succeed is minuscule, though not...as a slight to his skills."

The fingers began to rap once more, her head tilting ever so slightly as she studied his face as he spoke. Finally, she rose from her chair.

"You have a month, Captain."

Hands reached behind her chair, pushing it back under the table. "This is not a high school date you are wooing. This is a senshi, an enemy to Earth and it is only out of my interest of your methods that I am allowing you to meddle for this long. If what you say is true - if she's weakening her resolve and coming to question herself -then I can only hope that this train of thought is spreading among the others."

Pausing for a moment, one hand extended out, two fingers motioning for him to rise. With that, she made her way towards the door, twisting open the doorknob before glancing back to meet with the Captain's gaze once more.

"I will see results, Zac. Let's just hope, for your sake, that the results I see are favorable ones."

His eyes narrowed, there were things there he wanted to say, a low burning fire that only just revealed that little lack of tact.
True he'd overestimated to try and ensure at least a month...that had worked but her choice of words.
Did she want it rushed.

"I promise you...madam, I have no interest in 'wooing' them, only to 'purify' something that I think will be valuable." He stood and bowed from the waist, but still never took his eyes from her.

"You'll see the results you want my queen." He said and made his way for the door, at least as tense as when he had arrived, and justifiably on pins and needles.
