Zac had chosen a booth against the wall to wait for her, tempting as it was to sit by the window and watch people go by he wanted to minimize the risk of people reading lips. You just never knew who was capable of what these days, and at least for this meeting he wanted to be discrete and serious.
He'd offered to pay for the meal, and fortunately it didn't look like it would cost terribly much being as she'd chosen the coffee house.

He'd ordered his normal Chai, and was waiting so that he could order a cinnamon bun, hot of course as well as whatever she wanted.
He tapped the small notebook that he'd placed on the table as well and reviewed what he'd learned about her. Scanty details to date but he'd add more after the current meeting. He wanted in depth notes about all the members of his team.

Besides, she was to be a particularly key player. It not only suited what he had seen of her personality, he hoped it would minimize any problems he might otherwise have with her... ambition.
He could at least respect her drive though, it had weighed heavy in his decision to nominate her 'second in command.'

Elena was annoyed. The weather was changing, becoming colder, making wearing skirts a little more bothersome than usual. Not that she was going to trade in her wardrobe. But it did mean she spent more time inside places - especially coffee shops. Which was why when her new captain had suggested a meeting place, she had immediately given him the name of her favorite little cafe.

It was, of course, a bonus that he'd be buying. A small grin flitted over the girl's face as she stopped in the entry way and looked around, reveling in the warmth that poured over her. Zac wasn't all that hard to spot; there were relatively few bluenettes around, after all. With another grin she found him and made her graceful way over.

"Hello," she said, refraining from adding 'sir' to the end of the greeting at the lat moment. They were civilians at the moment, and Elena understood exactly why he'd picked this out of the way booth. Which was why calling him 'sir' would be an unforgivable slip. Hopefully he'd appreciate that restraint. "You wanted to see me?" she added after the server had come over and taken her order and his addition.

He nodded and curled his fingers around his cup as he watched her for a moment, was he watching to see how she handled not being addressed for that pause.

"I did, thank you for coming on such short notice." He nodded and casually took a sip of the spiced tea drink he had a preference for.

"I wanted to speak to you about the roll I'd like you to take with the team." He said as casually as someone might ask about homework or dance recitals.
"I realize that it's for the moment...small, but I'd like you to act as my second in command." He said and twisted the cup casually in his hand as he watched her face and manners for how she took the statement.

She waved away the remark casually. As if she'd have told him no. Not unless there had been a phenomenally good reason, but he'd managed to ask at the perfect time.

Hardly unusual for him to know that much.

At his explanation for why he'd wanted to meet with her, Elena's blue eyes widened momentarily before they quickly narrowed in thought. "I'm honored," she replied, looking as serious as the moment called for, though she did drum her fingers on the table for a moment. "Best to lay this groundwork early, though," the girl said lightly, as if to offer her own explanation for why a second in command was needed with what was a three person team. For the moment, anyway.

"I plan to add more people... How fast will entirely depend on what I found out and if certain plans come to fruition." He waved his hand casually but there was something about the way he said it that said whatever plans he had in motion were very complex and heavy.
"Naturally... Im willing to accept any recommendations you might have as to...valuable assets to the team, including their weapons and a brief summary of their personality would be preferable." He said with a casual hand wave as though that were standard operating procedure.

He paused and watched her again for a moment.
"I'll have to fill you in on my...pet project of course, and I hope you'll have the discretion not to interfere, or participate until you are -sure- you understand what I am doing....besides that we'll be setting up a training routine to maximize our efficiency in working together."

Elena nodded her understanding, smiling a bit at the server who arrived to drop off their order. Taking a sip of her drink - salted toffee hot chocolate - the bluenette looked at her captain consideringly. "I'll have to start keeping a notebook myself," she replied semi-whimsically. It might even be a good idea.

"Oh, of course," was her reply to his next statement. "I dislike acting without knowing what's going on." An eyebrow arched at Zac knowingly while she took another sip. And didn't ask him what this 'pet project' was all about.

"And you will know in due time, it's with great fortune that you won't have to act just yet." He said with a smile that would have looked 'in place' on someone foreclosing on a loan.
"I'll prepare a file for you so that you can read up on the subject." He nodded and flipped the front of his own notebook open casually.

If there was any hope of reading upside down, it would be gone after one look. It wasn't even 'short hand' at least not any recognizable form of it.

"Much appreciated," she replied with a smile that was only slightly warmer than the one he'd offered. Elena had already noticed that her captain was rather obsessive about note-taking in general, a trait that seemed to be amplified when it related to the Negaverse.

Well, it took all kinds, she supposed. They'd recruited that maniac Scheelite, after all.

When Zac flipped open the book he'd brought, Elena's natural curiosity wasn't quite restrained enough to avoid trying to peek at what was in there. Unfortunately, he was one of those who wrote in their own special code and with a sigh, the bluenette sat back. "Mmm," she said after a moment. "Was there anything else in particular you want me to be doing?" A hand wave accompanied her next remark. "Other than the routine, which I assume won't be changing much?" Routine being collecting starseeds and either pounding on senshi or avoiding them if she couldn't defeat them.

"If you encounter any new senshi, I'd like you to tell me their name and their powers, if we know better the range and nature of their attacks if we meet them again we can at least try and anticipate them and possibly win, or at least drive them off." He said with a small shrug.
"I'm not sure what you have done previously, but I'll likewise share what I think will assist you in your fights." He nodded.

Elena nodded. "Of course," she said, sitting up a little before offering a one-shouldered shrug. "I haven't run into any so far, but, well..." She trailed off, frowning slightly.

"I haven't been active for all that long, truth be told," the bluenette said almost nervously, drawing a little circle on the table with her finger. "Managed to wind up in a coma." Like so many other people, but at least she'd woken back up.

"Captain Scheelite did as well, I don't think it will be terribly detrimental not to worry... I hope to do team training excursuses at any rate." He nodded slightly and seemed to roll things over in his head.

"When we do, I'll be assessing who fights best in what areas, we'll cross train to try and round everyone out and then work on...'trust', not to sound like a cheep book on building a better work relationship, but the better able we are to read each other we are..." he waved a hand letting the rest of it go unsaid.

Elena nodded again, cerainly able to fill in the rest of his sentence with ease. Taking another sip of her drink, she was surprised to find it almost empty. With a mental shrug, she knocked the rest back and set the cup down on the table. "Have you decided on a schedule?" she asked, looking at her always prepared captain expectantly.

"Also, if you like, I can jot down my cell phone number for you?" That would certainly make it easier for him to contact her.

"Once I finish my 'interviews' I'll be requesting a list of mandatory civilian events from everyone and will schedule around that. But yes your cell phone number would be excellent...here." He said and proffered a slip of paper that appeared in his hand rather the same way his smoke pellets now did, almost startling in its quickness.
"My own... I got a track phone strictly for use for the team so I'll not cross up someone calling for any other reason."

after exchanging numbers he nodded curtly. "If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to contact me, I'll be in touch with our schedule, and I look forward to working with you."
He offered a very 'professional' smile before heading for the door.
