Lt. Raite hadn't even been out for five minutes yet, merely standing on a deserted sidewalk to scan the area when a scream erupted throughout the air. "GRAAAHH!" A person, holding a metal stick in hand was running up to the negaverse lieutenant, planned to knock him out with that.
"You terrorists killed my sister!" He yelled out indignantly, planning to take revenge for his family member's death. Lt. Raite looked back with his gray eyes. He wasn't sure of exactly who he killed, but he really doubted that he was the one at fault here. How bothersome. Why did he have to take up the slack for another negaverse officer?
His foot whirled up, stopping the metal pole's descent. "Are you that eager to meet your sister's fate as well?" Raite didn't care either way, but if that was what the man wanted, Raite wouldn't deprive him.
He went off the defensive and onto the offensive, throwing some force behind his kick to send the man flying. The man hit the front of a building, temporarily dazed by the impact. But before he had a chance to recover, Lt. Raite had already thrust his hand into the civilian's chest and pulled out a glowing starseed.

Something felt wrong. Kind of like a youma, but at the same time it was completely different, a completely different kind of 'wrong'. Themis had only recently henshined up and set out for patrol, and then the feeling had hit him straight on.
What he saw was a little surprising - he was up on the roof, hands balling into fists. Sailor Themis had never met a negaverse agent before. He'd had his own mental image of what they were, and... it was proving to be completely shattered. This guy... was about as old as he was, give or take.
And he had his hand right in the other guy's chest. There was no time to call for the backup he might need - he had to jump in right there and right now.
Some senshi would have started to sprout things about love and justice - some would have made a much bigger show of themselves. But not Themis. Even as a Sailor Senshi, Themis wasn't the kind to sprout out s**t and taunt unless he truly had a reason to do so.
Some senshi said hello by screaming on top of their lungs. Sailor Themis said hello by dropping off the roof like a shadow, and then kicking Raite straight off the civilian.
"Let him go." It was the only thing he said, and he slid into some kind of battle-stance. He was trying hard not to look nervous, but he was. This wasn't like a youma. This wouldn't be like training with Taranis.
This was a much different ballpark. He lunged for the starseed - if he was lucky, he could catch it again before the negaverse agent did - then he had a chance to putting it back where it belonged.

Raite took the kick squarely in his ribcage, thrown back by the unexpected hit. But he caught himself in mid-air, minimizing the damage by landing on the ground with a slide of his foot.
"Persistent." He uttered in a flat voice, apparently, life hadn't given him enough senshi to contend with already. And it was another male no less. Would he be just as good as Taranis? Or Chaonis? Or not? He wasn't sure, already sensing some apprehension within the other male. Otherwise, that would be a disappointing fight.
The glow of the starseed caught his eye. The starseed had slid across the sidewalk, Raite having dropped it when he fell. His feet prepared to jump, and Raite propeled himself towards where the starseed was, barely making in time when he slid across the cement, holding the starseed in his gloved hand. He nearly collided with the senshi, but he had no plans to leave himself open to the other male.
"Trying to save him first?" Normally, the senshi that he saw were far more interested in defeating the negaverse rather then retrieving starseeds first. That was so much more naive then the senshi he had seen so far. "Hn." His tonfas materialized in his hand, ready to fight. "Don't tell me you're new on the job."

Damnit. This hadn't quite worked out as planned - but he had to get that starseed back. That much he knew - if he didn't, the unconcious man would forever be unconcious... one of the many bodies if DC hospitals that remained forever comatose, and eventually got pulled off life-support. If he failed, the man would die, one way or another.
That was a tall order for someone who was as new to the job as he was, but Themis had no other choice. There had been no time to call for backup - Raite would have liked been long gone by then. It was a quiet, almost grim determination that had him standing here, in spite of the odds stacked against him.
To be honest, not even Themis himself really understood it. Before... he'd never acted like this, before.
Raite wouldn't get graced with a clear answer - Themis wasn't that stupid. "Cut the small talk." He wasn't interested - instead, he dashed forward, hand hard in a fist, aiming for Raite's chest, but then switching direction to try to hit at his side instead.
Taranis' words were swirling in his mind. Punch where you can make the most damage. Don't use your power at the wrong moment. People die that way.
Themis didn't especially want to die.

Themis tried to move out of the way, but he wasn't quick enough - the second tonfa move hit him on the side as he moved away, and the senshi clenched his teeth. Pain was something he was getting somewhat used to, from being thrown all over the place by youma. The adrenaline of fighting also helped - it was easier to just forget about it at this moment, but he knew it would catch up with him later.
He couldn't see a way to pull off his attack effectively with a scenario like this, with him as the sole fighter - this was bothersome, to say the least. Even if he had managed to unleash it, he would need to stay still, and the second he moved, the effect would be gone, leaving him right where he'd started. There were ways he could have worked it at his advantage - but he didn't see them, due to this own inexperience.
Instead, he reached for and took the pole the civilian had tried to use against the lieutenant, and tried to hit him in the chest. If he managed to knock the air out of his lungs, maybe he'd get some sort of upper hand ?

Raite saw the glint of metal out of the corner of his eye. However, he couldn't react in time, "Damn..!" One hand threw out his tonfa to defend himself. The force of Themis's hit the body of the wooden weapon, threatening to splinter it if any more force was applied. Instead, Raite was sent back flying into a nearby parked car, the tonfa clattering to the ground near him. The starseed had slipped from the sudden movement, dropping from his coat to the ground in front of Themis, with it's tantalizing glow.
His black locks settled messily over his face frm the impact, Raite tossed his head back to catch a clear view of the senshi. His gray eyes watched Themis with a disinterested gaze now. He used a weapon, huh? How pathetic. He had little fighting skill, and no senshi attack yet so far although Raite knew he had one. He picked himself up, his gloved hand reaching for the wooden weapon at the same time. Raite yawned, holding his arms high above his head to stretch his limbs which were cramped by the crash. "You're weaker then I thought."
And once more, without a second warning, he lunged for the Sailor Senshi, his tonfa aiming for another swipe.
