Giselle liked taking little trips away from the pride; sometimes she felt as if she was there too often, the males would get tired of seeing her pretty face and they'd have no use for her. That was something that Elle feared. Becoming old and saggy was not a pleasant thought, and so she welcomed the exercise as well. Anything to keep her looking lithe and youthful, she would do. Another thing that Elle loved about being away from the pride was meeting new wanderers be they lion, cheetah, leopard or any mix of the three. The midday air was hot, but the silver cheetah didn't mind it. Her pelt was light enough that it deflected most of the burning noon sun. If she overheated, she'd find a nice fat baobab tree to laze under. If she grew too parched, she'd find a little puddle to sip daintily from. That's what she found herself doing now, drinking from a little puddle of water that had gathered in a rather large dish-shaped rock.

Jicho was currently doing what he seemed to do most of: wander. The brightly-colored lion didn't mind. If he'd ever had a pride, he couldn't recall it at the moment. Nope, he lived on his own. Always had. Sometimes it got a little dull, though, without anyone to chat with.
That seemed like it was about to change though. Jicho brightened up, spotting a cheetah in the near distance. He broke into an easy lope, squinting at the cheetah.
Female! Yes! Lovely! She appeared to be an unfortunate shade of dull gray, but as he grew closer he could see that she was patterned with spots in much more appealing colors. Oh, boy. "Good afternoon, madame!" Jicho called cheerfully.

Elle's ears flickered slightly in the direction of the lion; he was bright.. very bright. She did so enjoy his mane, though; the blend of colors in his mane was very striking. Elle stopped in her tracks, schooling her body into a graceful shape of elegance. Tail tucked about her feet, ears lowered demurely, a small smile on her muzzle. It was second nature to the cheetah.
"Good afternoon," she responded, dipping her head slightly in greeting to the male. She watched him carefully. Sometimes it was hard to make out the intentions of another. He seemed to be polite, but you really couldn't be too careful out here on the savanna. "How are you?" she purred softly, a single brow raising in question.

Better and better. This cheetah was indeed lovely, and just the picture of elegance. All feline ladies had different, excellent attributes, and Jicho quite admired the gracefulness of cheetahs. She had pretty manners as well, which delighted the brightly colored lion. Sometimes ladies out on the savannah were less than pleased to meet with a strange male, no matter how polite Jicho was.
He put on his sexiest smile, raising his thick black eyebrows at the lovely lady. Nice though she might seem, she might still be wary of him. He didn't want to do anything to alarm her.
"I was feeling rather tired, but the sight of your loveliness has refreshed me," Jicho said grandly, bowing his head slightly. "My name is Jicho, dear lady."

He certainly wasn't the most handsome lion that Elle had ever laid eyes on, nor was he the most charming. But he was being polite, and that was something Elle could appreciate. She was an entertainer in her pride, and so she was used to pretending to be affectionate to even the most ugly of lions. Her expression didn't waver in the least, and with a demure smile and a slight flutter of her lashes, Elle introduced herself.
"I am Giselle. Your flattery is well-received, I assure you, Jicho." She really couldn't even remember what he said, but she knew she was expected to give a graceful and welcoming response. If he made any funny moves, though... she would go from sweet and graceful to claws-bared in the blink of an eye.

Clearly this Giselle was a rare flower, well-trained in the art of pleasing males. Jicho approved of her mild, pleasant manners. A very nice female, although unfortunately rather dull to look at. The play of colors in her spots was the only lively spot in what seemed a tragic ocean of grey.
Despite her plain-ness, she was a very nice female. "It is wonderful to make your acquaintance," Jicho purred, amused by her fluttering lashes. Already smitten, probably. "Are you local to the area, or a wandering beauty?"

Ew. He just purred at her?
Elle flicked her tail as she rose to her feet, edging away from the male just slightly. She didn't want to appear outwardly disgusted by the thick-browed lion. Though his mane was pleasing to look at, his smooth voice and the way he looked at her set off alarm bells in her head. Her tail flicked once more as she seated herself a few feet away, idly grooming a small, dainty paw before she spoke.
"Wandering for now," she said softly, watching him carefully. He was bigger than her, yes, but she was certain that she could outrun him if he tried any funny business. "I have a pride that I call home."

Was the cheetah sidling away from him? Shy, probably. One with such dowdy fur was sure to be a little uncomfortable with the attention of incredibly handsome lions like himself. Jicho let her edge away without following. If he set her running she would likely outrun him before he had a chance to catch up and woo her.
He nodded at her words. "I'm a wanderer myself." Interesting that she had a pride. Pride lions - er, felines - tended to be touchier than rogues. "I imagine that you're quite popular at home," Jicho said. "It seems a shame for you to be out here on your own. Adventuring is all very well, but it can get dull without company."

Oh, thank the Gods, he wasn't chasing her. She felt much more comfortable with this space between them. She couldn't read what was going on in his mind - part of her didn't want to, and part of her was a bit intrigued about what he was thinking.
"A shame? Mm, I don't think so. It can be refreshing. I enjoy meeting new faces, and it gives those in my pride a little time to miss my face." She smiled a little smile that didn't quite reach her eyes this time. "Sometimes it's rather nice to be alone and without company. What about yourself, Jicho? Do you have a pride to call home?"

Hmm. Jicho wasn't sure what to make of her words. To give her pride a chance to miss her? Poor, poor gray cheetah. She must be pining for someone back home, someone who had chosen another, flashier female. That seemed likely. Brave of her to venture out, but a silly plan. Jicho mentally tsk-tsked. Sometimes females did the silliest things. It was a pity she was such a mouse, really - the cheetah's manners were exemplary.
"I've never been much for prides," Jicho replied. "I enjoy seeing new places and new faces ... the rogue lands can be dangerous for a feline on their own, though." He really did look concerned. This cheetah was too docile and tender to be able to take care of herself out here.

He was so boring! And he just wanted to keep talking. He must not have any place he needed to be. Elle didn't either, but she was utterly bored out of her skull sitting here yapping with this lion. In the beginning, she'd hoped that he would be as exciting to talk to as he was interesting to look at. She was sorely disappointed.
"I am sure I can handle myself." She'd been training back in the pride at Nyoka's request; someone with Elle's brains and beauty was what Nyoka needed in her spies. "And I never wander horribly far from home."
